Randy Moss is heading for Oakland, the receiver's agent said Wednesday.
Dante DiTrapano, Moss' agent, confirmed to ESPN's Chris Mortensen that the Minnesota Vikings and the Raiders had "come to an agreement on Randy playing for Oakland next year."
The Vikings pulled off a rare NFL trade, dealing Moss to the Oakland Raiders for linebacker Napoleon Harris and the seventh overall pick and a seventh-round selection in this year's NFL draft.
The Raiders will assume his $7.25 million base salary for next season. But because they need salary cap space, the Raiders will pay him the veteran's minimum of $665,000 and pay him the difference in a signing bonus, which they can spread over the final four years of his original eight-year, $75 million deal.
As a result, Moss' salary cap number will be reduced nearly $5 million, to a manageable $2.4 million. If he plays well next season, the Raiders likely will tear up the remaining three years of his deal and give him a new, lucrative contract. If he does not play well, the Raiders can release or trade him, with relatively minimal salary implications.
The Vikings, meanwhile, will save nearly $2 million in salary cap space, and they inherit a modest Harris contract. The 23rd pick in the 2002 draft, Harris has two years remaining on his original six-year, $7 million contract that included $3.775 million in guaranteed bonuses. The Vikings are responsible for his base salary next season of $541,000, and $658,500 in 2006.
