Poor Ramsey

Lavar spent his first 5 seasons with 5 different defensive coaches/systems...we have all wondered how much better he could be of there was some consistency.
The same thing goes for Ramsey. The guy has been promoted, demoted, dangled as trade bait, programed by Spurrier, deprogramed by Gibbs, demoted for an over the hill QB, and now loses his 2 starting wide receivers.
I do not know of 1 single QB in the NFL that has had to go through this much in their first 3 seasons. If you do please let me know.

Denial. There were a few Bucs fans that thought the same about Keyshawn...and McCardell for that matter.
Coles spit on Gibbs' legagacy. He turned his back on the entire team. He is gone.

One QB who put up with worse conditions comes to mind - Archie Manning. The guy was drafted by the Saints and couldn't get out...without FA guys were stuck. I don't remember how many games they won during his career there but the poor guy was hammered game after game. You may not like Peyton or Eli but if you saw what happened to their dad, you'd feel sorry for him...
Ramsey at least has some hope!
Modern era -- no one comes to mind.

OK, "modern" era, consider Joe Theisman. Played in the CFL after being drafted by the Dolphins, who already had Griese (why did they waste a pick??).
George Allen traded a 1st round pick to get Joe, who got to watch Billy Kilmer and Sonny Jurgenson in '74.
Joe finally got to play a little in Allen's last couple of years, when first Roy Jefferson and then Charley Taylor got hurt and retired.
Jack Pardee took over the team, made Joe the starter, and had Joe Walton change the offense, but Pardee couldn't do a thing about the Redskin receivers. They had none. The best, Frank Grant, got a raise and then discovered that he didn't want to play all that hard...so Pardee made him disappear. Joe went through '78 and '79 without a real WR. At least Walton stayed as OC, and Walton moved John Riggins from I-formation blocking back to one of the two RB's.
The Skins drafted Art Monk, who started the year that John Riggins decided to take a vacation...hence, one WR, but no big runner.
Then Pardee was fired, and Theisman had his third HC and third offensive scheme.
Of course, the Redskins won most of the time, even though Joe T. had to wait five years to get his receivers.
In that way, Archie Manning probably had it the worst. Plenty of consistency, but consistently bad.

The QB side has been discussed above. BUT...
How about the fans? At least Ramsey has suffered ONLY three years. Do you want to begin to count over a DECADE for most of us?
Man we were not even competitive until Joe came back and that does not still mean wins!

let's not feel so bad for patrick, he really didn't do anything to win his job. All his performances have been mediocore at best, and given his past competitors at the position he looks like our knight in shinning armor, when in fact he just makes less mistakes than the others and sneaks a win in every now and then. Don't get me wrong I like the kid and I hope a full season at the position will develope him into the player we all hope he is. I just hope he doesn't get the smoot/pierce syndrome and hold out demanding more than he's worth. Since he's been named the starter for next year I cant stop thinking how we are going to pay for 2 starting qb's. let's all pray Brunell does the right thing.

yeah, the 2nd Giants game was mediocre...
Ramsey has had many great games since he's been in the NFL. Some of us seem to have a really short memory.
Ramsey will perform well next season and he'll get a big contract for it. He'll be our QB for years.
Brunell will also do the right thing. Stay on the roster as long as we pay him. That's what is right for him and his family. And, that will be one or two more seasons.

I don't feel bad for the fans (including myself). It is our job to support the team through thick and thin, players on the other hand are selected by the team to have their career here (while the fans choose who to root for). When a player is selected, especially a young QB, you just hope the the club sets them up to succeed instead of throwing speed bumps in front of him.
Since the time of gladiators in Rome fans see their favorite "players" come and go, win and lose. It is a fans job to support the team and maintain the teams history.
I totally get your point that we've been through hell. The players get to bail out when their contract is up. But the only way for the hell to stop is to let the key players develop properly.

What did it take you so long and make these great points?
