M. Strahan would you pick him up?

I saw on ESPN insider where they were saying that Strahan may possibly get cut. Its an insider article so I couldn't get the details.
Would you guys want him here? I know he's a Giant but the boy is a beast. He's going to want a lot of money but he's a player that I'd be willing to give a pretty penny to.
I know this goes against my usual about how we need to evaluate our talent thats already here but this guy is a monster.
Strahan or a comparable rusher in our defense just does gives me the chills!

i think he has too big a name, he'll be very expensive. now, i wouldn't neccessarily have a problem with that if he were a bit younger, but he is getting old-- he's 33!i definitely get the vibe that he has reached his peak and is just about to start the downside of his career. i wouldn't be surprised at all if his play declines substantially each year over the next few seasons- if he can even stay healthy. i base this on no logic, just a vibe i get from The Force.

I agree, too old and too expensive for us to sign. However, he's still a stud DL. I don't beleive he's done yet, like Bruce Smith was...He could help someone for sure.

I would sign him in a second but his asking price would be too steep. If he could find a way to fit into our salary cap, I would sign him.

Demetric Evans and Ron Warner already fit our system, not to mention Daniels and Wynn. Maybe through the draft we could pick up a DE.

I think we are all set at any position where Strahan might play. How should we improve of the best defense in the league? (OK, one of the top three defenses; none of the three is so much better than the others that they can be called the all-out best. Just to be exact, here.)
But, ignoring the salary etc, Strahan would be a great player to have on the Redskins.
Yes, we know he is a beast in the field, but, as I mentioned last year, he is a fine person. My son delivered pizzas to him a few years ago, and said, "What a nice, down-to earth, guy. You'd never know he was a great football player, except he's so big." He is active in township affairs, and would have been elected to the town council if he hadn't decided that playing for the Giants would take too much time.
Strahan would be a great community person as well as a powerful player for the Redskins...

The guy can play when healthy but i just dont think we will spend the money on him, he has a few years left but he will want major bucks.

I would sign him in a heart beat, IF it didn't keep us from doing what we need to do on offense. However, unlike most of you I still think he has 4 or 5 years in him where he would be more productive than 90% of the DE in the league. 2 years ago he was the most complete DE in football, without a doubt. Last year is hard to tell because he got hurt.

Not if he paid us a $1,000,000 a year to play and picked up Towel Boy duty. I can't stand him, his fake sack record and basically every other thing about him. Other than that, I guess he's a pretty darn nice fella :0)

I'd rather live with Warner/Arrington and Clemons as our DEs for passing downs.

The problem is that these guys just arent that good. I would be very happy to see strahan sign a 2 or 3 year deal with the skins.

I would not count on LaVar playing DE on 3rd downs. He hates it, and I have explained this before in a differnet forum, but LaVar will not be plaing DE.

yes he will. He's said many times that he hated doing it for Lewis, but that now he just wants to win and wherever coach plays him, he'll just do his job. Williams has also eluded to the fact that Lavar will play some defensive end. That was before LA got hurt, but it will carry over into next season. With Lemar and Pierce's emergence, I have a feeling we will be seeing a whole lot of situations with LA at DE...

This is a double-edged sword. You like a guy with his intensity, athleticism and tenacity. You wonder why a guy with his record and popularity in NY would be cut; normally, this is the kind of guy you build around. Was the injury so severe ? Was his replacement so great ? Did the Giants take off after he went down ? "No" to all of the above.
I wonder if you'd find it surprising that this is thie first of I've ever read of any possibility of Strahan being released, and I live in NY.
Appropriately, it's posted in a forum named "HogWash".

When did Williams say he wanted to use LA at DE? I can see having a real fast linebacker like C. Clemons play DE on third downs if we dont pick up a speed rusher via draft or FA, but it seems like such a huge risk to put such a talented player in LA in at DE, which is where he got injured before, playing DE. I have seen absolutley nothing to suggest that Williams will do this, and it seems foolish to put a player in a position he hates when it is not absolutley necessary.
