Culpepper lets feelings show

During the season, Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper was diplomatic whenever he was asked about teammate Randy Moss.

But during the offseason, especially this week in Hawaii, Culpepper didn't mask his true feelings.

In two separate interviews there, Culpepper questioned the Vikings' patience with Moss, and he indicated his displeasure with the receiver's late-season antics.

Culpepper said he didn't voice his genuine opinions during the season because he wanted to avoid internal strife. But when asked about Moss' decision to walk off the field with two seconds remaining in the regular-season finale against the Washington Redskins, Culpepper told FOXSports.com on Wednesday, "There's no way to justify that... it's terrible."

Reached in Honolulu on Thursday, Culpepper did not back off his comments, but he made clear that he still considers Moss a good friend, even if they have yet to speak this offseason.

"It's not my decision," Culpepper said of the speculation that Moss could be traded this offseason. "If he's there, I'm cool.

"I'm just tired of answering all the questions about him. That's all people want to ask me about. That's my last Randy Moss question I'm answering."

Pressed on the subject, though, Culpepper made clear that he wants Moss to remain his go-to receiver.

"I want him as my teammate," Culpepper said. "But it's not my decision."

Asked what he wants from Moss, Culpepper said: "I just want him to play football like he loves the game. That's what I want him to do. If he did that, I think we can win the Super Bowl."

Culpepper and Moss are one of the NFL's most prolific quarterback-to-receiver duos. Although Moss finished with 14 receiving touchdowns, he was not chosen to the Pro Bowl, only the second time in seven seasons he has not made the Pro Bowl.

With one of the greatest statistical seasons ever by an NFL quarterback, Culpepper secured a spot at the Pro Bowl.
