If cheap, he may do for a year.

nope, didnt seem like he played to much this year. and i dont think we need Hugh. I mean hes a good locker room guy and all but he got cut from Jacksonville and hardly played during the season and Super Bowl. but i guess if he would sign for real cheap, why not.

I would have say no even if it was for cheap... I'd rather have a young cheap player who might become someone than a veteran who can only stop the run at this point of his career. The DE's we have now are great for filling lanes - if we add a DE I hope it is for a pass rush.

Rotator cuff tear, bicep tear slowed down Douglas' rush

By LES BOWEN

There was more to Hugh Douglas' lack of playing time down the stretch than met the eye, Douglas said yesterday, as he headed out of the NovaCare Complex and into unrestricted free agency.

Douglas said he suffered a rotator cuff tear in his right shoulder in the first game of the season, and the tear slowly got worse. He said late in the season he realized he had somehow torn his bicep, as well. Douglas, 33, said he will have surgery for the shoulder injury.

"We really didn't understand how bad it was until the [Dec. 12] Redskins game, when I had to play" because of injuries to fellow defensive ends Derrick Burgess and Jerome McDougle, Douglas said.

Douglas said that because of his injury, "I was kind of that emergency guy - in case of emergency, break glass. I didn't have a problem with that, especially with the games meaning more and more toward the end of the season. You just have to sit back and let the guys that can do, do it."

Douglas said he would like to come back next season. That's uncertain, with the Birds expected to re-sign pending unrestricted free agent Burgess, and looking to get 2003 first-round pick McDougle more plays.

Douglas, by the way, said the official game sheet from the Super Bowl that lists him as not having played is wrong - he said he got in for two snaps.

Hugh is at the end of the line, we have no use for him. We have Evans, Warner, that played really hard, they just need more playing time.

No. We don't need him. A year ago I would have said "maybe" but he had almost no effect on the Eagles' season.
