SOME PLAYERS THAT MIGHT BE RELEASED

Chad Morton should be one of the first to go, he is way to exspensive and has not really done anything to justify his salary. Lennie Friedman, he is a career backup ,should be able to draft a guard / center. Rock Cartwright i like him and he plays special teams but i think the team will release him. Michael Barrow, i just can't see the team keeping him. He might not ever put on a Redskin jersey.

They can all go as far as I'm concerned. Rock was the only name I waffle on. He's a teamer and we need good teams guys, however if he isn't a part of our offense as a back, he may be expendable.

Chad Morton is expensive?

Not at a million bucks cap hit he ain't.

Rock Cartwright - Free Agent. He doesn't need to be released.... he's not under contract.

Barrow may be released but contrary to popular belief, his cap hit isn't bad at $2M and if he was seviceable for a year, even as a backup to Pierce (who needs to be re-signed first), keeping him another year would lessen the cap blow that much more when we did ultimately release him. Right now, we'd save about a dollar of cap to cut him. He has a cap hit this year of $2.156M... he will cost us 2.08M in cap to cut him. We could prorate that by cutting him after Jun 1, but my point is only that we won't realize any REAL cap savings.

Friedman costs very little as well, and to me would seem to be an excellent utility backup who can handle all interior line positions. Hhe is expendable that the Redskins will likely seek interior line help somewhere in the draft and Raymer can fill that utility spot equally or better.

Wait, I thought Raymer sucked and was the reason for all of the offensive line problems we had this season? :hmm:

On a serious note, I think both centers should stay. Let's face it, We can't really blame the fumbled snaps on the center alone cough cough Brunell cough cough.

I would like to see Rock staying. He wouldn't cost too much I'm sure, and he was actually finding his way to being a Special Team player whose name people hear alot. I was surprised the number of tackles he got on ST. He is little but that didn't stop him. If we can get him cheap why let him go just to replace him with someone else??

As far as Friedman goes that would depend on what we do in the draft. Everyone keeps saying grab a center, which I don't get. But if we do, then Lennie is expendable. Chad Morton was a disappointment but because of his contract he'll stick around I think. Let's just hope he can live up to his potential this year.

what bout brunell, if we release him before June 1st, we can get a lot of money back and use it to pick up some good guys

And then we are back to two QB's which didn't work under Spurrier. Not to mention the cap hit.

Release Chad tomorrow. He is absolutely worthless. We can find someone else better on waivers.

Chad will make $540k this year it's too late to cry about what he has already been paid. We need to bring him into camp and see if he can keep his spot as our return man or if those duties will belong to A Brown. It's cheaper to keep him around until atleast June anyway

Again a million dollar cap hit why not let him compete for a spot against whoever is brought in

We need to resign him ....he could be a "Core Skin" as a ST player

I healthy who would turn down Barrow as their #2 MLB

I say resign Rock(who lost weight just to have a shot at making the team last year) and our other free agents to include Smoot (current offer is more than fair)
Bring everyone into camp and see who sticks around

Boy, I can't see a name on that list that I want to see go.
Unless you get somebody better than Lennie to back Cory up, you're ska-rewed when he gets hurt again. Not "if", but "when".
Chad could be an excellent change of pace scatback if Portis goes down, and will prove his worth this year on ST if there's some upfield blocking going on for him.
Barrow, I can't defend...but I want him to fail before he gets released. He can be a great addition if he's healthy. It's not like we're all stable there, anyway. He can be moved to the outside. (hint-hint)
The Rock is our baby. Homegrown talent in a FA world. I want to keep him around for his ST talents, and for the depth he provides at RB.

Thats sad, a healthy Michael Barrow is a beast

The biggest mistake Rock made was dropping 25 lbs. for Spurrier. If he stayed at 250lbs. he would have been much more effective in short yardage this year and his role would have expanded.
We are stuck desperately needing a fullback if the Rock leaves. Not that we can't find one in the draft around the 6th or 7th round or on the FA market.

Barrow is 34 years old, he has been hurt,he once was a tackling machine, but you don't know how the injury is going to effect him. I guess he still could be a back up or a Special Teamer

We don't need to pick up anybody, antonio brown, i think that's his name, he played for the skins the last 4-5 games and was a great punt returner
