He's giving it everything he's got!

I think it went largely un-noticed, but did anyone catch Coach Gibbs' press conference last week? I found it to be his most personal and genuine news conference in all his years of coaching. Here's why:

He was obviously upset at the way the media have taken his recent comments out of context, and he was visibly disturbed at some jerk reporter who suggested that he's in it for the money. In any event, in spite of all the negativity that these media types are hitting him with, he says "I wanna say this to the fans, I'm giving this everything I've got". He didn't direct that to the reporters, the NFL, or anyone else for that matter other than the fans of the Redskins. Can any other head coach match what Joe Gibbs does for the fans of the Washington Redskins? He didn't really care what the media thought, as long as he was able to get his message to the fans. And, his message was that he's giving this every thing he's got. Can anyone doubt his sincerity? If any other head coach said something like that, I'd dismiss it with a grain of salt. But, can anyone honestly doubt that Joe Gibbs isn't giving this everything he's got? That man is committed to the Redskins, and he'll do whatever it takes. I don't care if the Redskins never win another game, as long as we have the type of commitment that Joe Gibbs has shown, we can be proud of what we're trying to do. We owe a lot to that man.

Have a great weekend!

It was a great press conference, but i don't think that it went unnoticed around here.

Actually, what I meant that went un-noticed was his comment "I wanna say this to the fans". Not the press conference itself.

Joe puts up with the media but he is not thrilled by them. He is smart enough not to antagonise them but he felt wounded by the way some of this crap was made up to be.

Joe Gibbs cares about the fans. Everytime we lost, he felt it for us. He really feels that being accountable to the team and the fans is what matters. He was jumping over the media to communicate with the fans. He just USED them.

He has to get used to the idea that the behaviour of the media has gotten worse, not better, since he left during his first tenure with us. Remember that he had an -almost- confrontational press conference at the end of the season.

Good professional journalism is not rewarded when the standards of reality tv go as low as they do these days. To me Sports Illustrated = National Inquirer. Yellow unethical journalism.

I wish I could talk to Gibbs man...I really would like to sit down and talk about the Skins with him. It would be great to actually talk to a coach like he was a regular guy, rather than some almigthy figure you can't see.

That would mean alot for me to talk to Gibbs and tell him exactly what I think about this season and next.

Fellas, that guy IS the Redskins, the guy knows whats up. The guy is 64 years old and he is our hero... without him who knows? The point is that the 'skins are what he is going to make them. Have some faith in Gibbs. Cheers!

Oh man, wouldn't that be the greatest thing ever? I'm sure every single one of us would love it. I'd probably make an ass outta myself though. Telling THE man what I would do lol. The other day I met Matt Leinharts cousin. This is how it went...

So Matts parents must have some money for him to stay in school when he would go first in the draft huh?

Not really, they live in an 1800 square ft house in Encino(I think).

Well, that's kinda stupid. What if he gets a career ending injury?

She just gave me this I can't believe you just said that look lol.

I'd hate to be a bonehead if I got the chance to talk to Gibbs. I would defeinitely be star struck, so I'm sure something stupid would come outta my mouth...
