Mock Draft sign-up

Post by BossHog »

... just gearing up for the draft season as the Super Bowl approaches and wanted to get some feedback on a mock draft.

I know from some PMs and e-mails that some of you would like to do a mock draft on the board yourselves... so use this thread to sound off.

Usually one of the toughest parts of a mock draft is finding a mutually 'available time' for everybody. So state the best time for you in your post, along with any teams that you would be interested in covering. I find it's usually best to try and find at least 16 guys to do a mock so that each guy has two teams maximum. That way, if you assign each person an 'extra' as well, then you can usually cover off no-shows, and nobody is responsible for more than 3 selections.

We are going to be doing our own mock drafts for publication in the draft section... but we will probably post the results of the members mock in the section as well... so we want you to take it semi-quasi seriously if you want to be part of it.

Weeknights are cool with me. I'm off on Mondays, Tuesdays and sometimes Wednesdays. I have to work Thursday-Sunday, but I could fit in some time during those days in the evening if need be.

I put the teams in the order on wanting to do them from most to least.

Redskins
Panthers
Dolphins
Raiders
Bears

I can do afternoon through night... In the morning I'm at school, past 10 I'll be asleep... Anywhere between 3pm to 10 pm is good and I can do any NFC Team you want me to, but preferably one of the NFC East teams.

I'm game.
I think it should be like a 2-3 hour time limit on each pick for the first like 3 rounds then change to a hour. If you miss your pick then it is just like the real draft (you can pick whenever you want too).
The teams I wouldn't mind doing are...
'Skins
Dolphins
Panthers
Bucs
Pete Kendall is a MAN and a half..

69ers, Marine-mammals, Oranges, Cubs, and Pirates... In that order is who I want. I'll take any of those with my preference in order.

(Translation; 49ers, Dolphins, Browns, Bears, and Bucs.)

Afternoons to evenings are good for me, hopefully not after 9pm (I get up at 2:30am).

As far as which team, of course the Redskins would be my choice but I think Boss should get them if he's going to be a part of this. The Ravens would be my second choice after that it doesn't matter. Just let me know what teams you want me to do a little before the mock draft so I can study them some.

As far as 2-3 hours per pick I think maybe it should be just a bit shorter...how about 2-3 minutes.

Keep signing up brothers, i'll formulate a list when we have some more guys.

As for length of time for picks... I would LIKE to make it shorter than the 2 or 3 hours that online mocks often give... that's why i would like to come up with a mutually beneficial time. i figure if we can come up with a 3 hour window... we could give everyonr about 3 minutes to decide so that the whole thing could be done in less than 2 hours.

:feedback;

Brando777 - Redskins / Panthers / Dolphins / Raiders / Bears
hogred - Washington / Green Bay / Detroit / San francisco / Arizona
Redskins4Life - any NFC Team
Smithian - 49ers / Dolphins / Browns / Bears / and Bucs
air_hog - any team
warmother - Redskins / Ravens

There will be at least 2 staffers involved too.

Can we like, if we get everyone online at the same time, do it in e-mails and have it posted on here at the end of every round?

We only need to do a first round. The rest is too much of a crapshoot... especially with compensatory picks not even having been added to the fray. how about we get a first round done... we'll wait a little longer, and then do another one... this doesn't need to be the only mock we do in the next 80 days.

We're gonna do the draft ON the board.... we'll start a thread... and the guys just make their pick in the thread and then it's the next guy's turn.

So is that it?

All you guys that talk like you know something about the draft and this is all of you that were willing to put yourselves 'out there'?

ROTFALMAO

Like I said... I'm not doing it with 8 guys, I'd like TWICE that number.

When are we doing this? Mock drafts are fun. I don't know why we're having trouble getting people to sign up. Mock Drafts are tougher to predict and get accurate when it happens before free agency.

OK, I'll challenge everybody to put their own Mock together and send them to me. We'll figure out something cool to do with them.

It's harder than it looks. I hope some folks take on the challenge though - if nothing else, we'd get a good reference on what other teams are doing.

Monday Night is great for me because i dont have any practice or anything so just let me/us know and if its Monday, i can do it. But Tuesday i have practice from like 6-8 Pacific (9-11 Eastern) so whatever.

And i have already completed a full Mock Draft at some Mock Draft website. You can send it in and if they like they will post it along with like 5 others in a week.
(i had the Redskins taking Mike Williams with the 9th pick)
