Redskins asking for a 2nd rounder for Gardner

The Redskins are dangling receiver Rod Gardner in trade talks and word out around the Senior Bowl was they are asking for a second-round pick. That would seem a bit high, considering Gardner had trouble holding onto the ball last year. The Redskins want more consistency out of the receiver position opposite Laveraneus Coles.

Ask for a 2nd, take a 3rd.

I think you'd be pressed to find a starting receiver of Gardner's caliber in the 2nd round...so if a team is looking for someone to step in right away, that might not be too steep a price to pay. Maybe Marty will bite?

Apparently all deals are hung up on a small piece of fine print to the effect that the Redskins are insisting on dumping what's left of the six tons of stickum that they purchased in Gardner's second season.

I'd love a second rounder... but I'd take a 3rd... especially near the top of the order.

Wow, the one time someone is honest about Gardner, is when we're trying to trade him.

Shame on all of you...you buncha Gardner-haters.

He's only had 3 different head coaches in his career. Cut him some slack!!!

I'll give him some slack after his arce gets kicked to the road. I'm all over a 2nd or 3rd rounder for him.

I like Gardner too but hes not gonna ever be utilized correctly in a Skins uniform so getting a 2nd round pick for him would be ideal. Whatever we get for him though, I wish him the best in wherever he goes

And that affects how he "catches" the ball? Last time I checked, when the ball hits you in your hands, especially both of them, you are supposed to catch it.

Personally, I like the other talk I've heard about getting Andre Davis for him. If push came to shove though, I'd take a second rounder, but not a third. Somebody would be willing to bite on him.

I know one thing... Thank God my mom's friend didn't get me that Rod Gardner jersey... She just got me a Chad Morton 70th Anniversary jersey.

Correctly utilized? How does that translate to catching easy balls?

 I was employing the "trade-arrington-are-you-crazy" defense on the whole Gardner situation. The "Gardner-haters" reference is a salute to my friend, RSC.

Trade Gardner. We need someone who can catch the ball more than half the time.

Every person on this site who doesn't like Gardner always says he drops easy balls? Unless you guys are blind you would see that Rod hasn't dropped easy balls this past season, and to be honest with you, I think Laveranues Coles dropped more passes than Rod. When I say we dont correctly utilize him, I mean we don't throw to him nearly as often as we should. He's a big guy with a great physique and can overpower smaller defensive backs. For some idiot reason we're playing little tiny Coles as our possession receiver and using Rod as our deep threat. And another thing.... Why in the hell did we not throw any fades or jump balls to him, he could outjump the majority of DB's in the league... But I guess Joe didnt realize that

I'd take a 5th for him if it would get him off the team....

I agree. Hands O' Stone seems to make every third hard catch, and drops every other gimme.
We need consistency in a possession-type receiver.
He's had more than enough time.
When you bring up the coaching changes, I feel obligated to counter that with, "You shouldn't have to coach a receiver on how to hold on or how to focus."
Not with the money he's making. This no rookie here, folks.

Rod's daddy should have taught him how to catch a ball, Joe shouldn't have to!

Darn these single parent homes!

 We were watching a different team this season.

I could remind of a -FEW- drops BUT I will only remind you of one that may have changed our season for the worst this season:

Do you remember "the drop" in the end zone for a TD pass from Patrick Ramsey against the Giants during the second game of the season in NY? I do. We would have turned the game around. Instead, Patrick threw an interception in the next play and Joe learned that he could not trust Patrick's judgment for a few long weeks.

Let us agree on one thing for the future of Rod Gardner -and- the Redskins, it is better to seek a trade.

Image Somebody loves themself some Rod, huh? lol.

Honestly, I hope you just left the [sarcasm][/sarcasm] tags off of that post. Rod once was my #1 despised RedSkin until Mark Brunell earned the title. I will admit that Rod has improved a bit this year. He's more like 60/40 than 50/50.

I think Gardner needs a change in scenery. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes somewhere else and kicks ass.
