I voted for Peyton because he's a vet and the league MVP. Ben did better as a rookie than most due as 3-4 year vets. I believe Ben has an excuse. I'll also add that Peyton did not lose that game on his own.

Manning got showed up by a Rookie.

Tony Dungy should have been fired.

I think Manning did, He is a vet and has playoff experience, He has been there before, Ben being a rookie on the other hand it was his first time under the playoff pressure and he will be a good quarterback once he gets that experience

I concur with redskinsdave.

Both QBs did pretty poorly. It is a tough choice.

Hes a veteran, with a team like his he should definatley went to the superbowl.

this question is almost unfair because both QBs were unbelievably hampered by their coach's game plans.

the pats had a decimated secondary against which brandon stokely, who has been a hot player lately, would have been matched up against the patriots 7th string locker room janitor. but the colts coaches insisted on continuing to keep a 2 TE, 2 WR package on the field, which left stokely out of the equation. it was one thing to try this for a while and get a good run game going, but it didn't work! furthermore, just before half-time, they ditched that strategy and went back to the 3 WR set and suddenly started moving the ball real fast. you'd assume they would come back out like this after half-time, right? no. inexplicably, they did not put the proper weapons, the proper match-ups at peyton's disposal. you can blame this one on the colts' coaching staff.

pittsburgh similarly tried to run all over the patriots, to no avail. they refused to air it out and take advantage of the patriots' secondary. you can bet that bill cowher was simply too afraid to let roethlisberger take control of the game, after the shaky outing he had against the jets. but there was no way they were going to win if they didn't try.
so this game was also blown by the coaches, though you have to put some of that on ben himself because their reluctance was based on the fact that he DID play poorly the week before. you certainly can't say that about manning, who destroyed the broncos the week before playing NE.


oh by the way- i officially submit that the cognomen "Big Ben" be BANNED and anyone who uses it be dragged into the street and shot. IT'S NOT CLEVER! can we please hear about roethlisberger without hearing "Big Ben" every SINGLE time??? thanks.

People only say it because it's easier than remembering Rothelinger's last name.

that's a good point. perhaps we could somehow use the patriot act to force him to change his name to something easier to say/write/type- on the grounds that "Big Ben" is a british landmark, and thus un-american. perhaps we could name him "Ben Freedom".

Or Ben Kenobi.

hahaha nice! it did look like he was closing his eyes and relying on The Force for most of the playoffs.

Now that he's been struck down he'll become more powerful than we could possibly imagine.

Not only did Peyton choke but the entire offense core choked. That offense went form looking down right unstoppable to JV squad once they faced the Pats. What they need to do is get out of the dome, play in the elements the way the game is suppose to be played and start growing a pair of grapefruits then maybe ,just maybe they will be able to get to the Super Bowl.

You're right. This shouldn't be so surprising to anyone (read: freakin' analysts) that these indoor teams and indoor superstars simply choke when the game is on the line in the elements. The exact same thing happened to the Colts last year after so many analysts had refered to them as having an "unstoppable" offense. What do you know, new year but same old story.
