WR Poll

I'm reading a lot of posts about Moss, Burress, Muhammed. There are a good many people here who seem to think our offense was limited by the lack of another big-play receiver.
My own position was that the offensive scheme was limited and that Ramsey wasn't getting the ball down there, even though he's perfectly capable.
So, where do you stand...and why ?

I like Gardner a lot more than a lot of people on this board and I think he has potential to be great, but I'm not sure if that will happen in this offense. We dont NEED a reciever, but if someone like Mike Williams is available for us to draft then we should definitely get him. There are more pressing NEEDS such as DE, TE, or even C but WR could definitely be upgraded, especially now that its inevitable Rod is gonna be gone

Yes, Coles needs help and so does Portis.
A dee[ threat will open up the run game for Portis and the intermediate routes fpr Coles
But without time to throw.......

Honestly, I don't think we NEED a receiver, but if one becomes available and we can get him (and it won't kill our monetary issues) then I'm not against it. I don't like Gardner, he has time and many chances to prove himself, and he has not. Whether he will have a huge game or drop ever single ball thrown to him merely depends on what way the wind blows. I'm not sure what the problem is with Taylor Jacbos and why he hasn't actually been given a bigger role and a better chance to play. Darnarian McCants is a touchdown man, I don't know if he's exactly a deep threat receiver, but we certainly have more pressing issues IMO (like a DE, and an O-Line) than a wide receiver. I'm almost positive that Gardner is gone though.

TJ and Muhammad would be great additions though.

i voted that we need another deep threat.
If we have that we can have coles do the 7 yd rts which he is really good at. and if we have a deep threat portis's run game will open up. and we would have a person to throw the ball deep to because ramsey has one of the strongest arms

We don't need a WR.
We need to evaluate our inhouse talent before spending more money that NEEDS to be spent elsewhere.
Im tired of this time losing players and having them produce on other teams.
Jacobs, McCants have yet to be given a true chance to show what they can do.
Offensive and Defensive Lines are where are needs are this off-season. Depending on a few things, CB may be one also.

We have exellent recievers. I believe we need a QB that can go deep. Ramsey has an arm, but can only throw short canservative passes.

i swear if we get Muhammed ill go insane. he would be just another extremely OVERPAID athlete on our team. why waste money on an OLD guy when we could get Mike or Braylon if we want an upgrade at WR? Footballs not like Baseball where you can be dominant at 35+.

That is total b.s. that ramsey cant throw a deep ball.I guess you didn't watch the last game agaisnt the vikes when ramsey hit jacobs that went over fourty yards.Ramsey wasn't given all that many chances to throw deep. The play calling was short throws.I think next year as the offense grows, you will see more deep pass plays and better plays by our WR core.

That may havehave been one good pass. And i do have faith in Ramsey, I just havent seen him throw many accurate deep ball even with an open man.

I don't think we NEED a #2 receiver but whoever we acquire will replace the #2 receiver we were supposed to (but didn't) have.
I have always respected Muhammad's quiet demeanor during his 10 years as a Panther but his contract demands have rubbed me the wrong way.
I would love to sign Plaxico Burress as our #2. If we can't get him or Muhammad, I would like to sign either T.J. Houshmandzadeh, David Givens, or David Patten.

What ever happened to our promising prospect in Cliff Russell? I know he hurt himself two years ago but, wasn't he supposed to be a project receiver?

Coles has been playing through a bad big toe and might have surgery soon. He was getting another opinion last I heard. We need better talent than we've got. I'm not high on Gardner at all. He has the tools, the size and the talent - he just doesn't put them together and drops too many balls. "A change of scenery could be good for him. Watching those little dudes on the Patriots catch the ball all day long was inspiring. I think it's time to change his roster spot -just my .02

well, I personally didn't think we "needed one" until I just read what McCants said on comcast. If that's true, he's as good as gone. I also think Rod is gone. That leaves us with a hole at WR. I previously would have liked to pick up one of the vet FAs like Patten, Mushim, Burress, etc...Now I think we HAVE to pick one up or draft WR with our first pick, which I really don't want to do. I think Mr Patten may be coming to washington =)

To tell the truth, we need more possesion receivers, who can catch worth a damn.

there's absolutely no way gibbs will bring in a cancer like randy moss, and from what i've heard plaxico burress is a bit flaky as well (i might have heard wrong, idunno). but it seems like those guys on the patriots really buy into the "team" mentality gibbs wants to establish so badly, not to mention the fact that they catch the frickin' football, as was mentioned.
i don't really know what we need. i'm just so utterly confused that we could be so completely horrendous on offense. on paper, it seems like all we should need is an upgrade at OL or two, another good TE, and a healthy coles. but we were just the absolute worst this year. i don't know what to make of it.
i feel like jacobs may be poised to have a break-out season if he gets a lot of playing time. i also have a lot of faith in darnerian mccants- the man simply catches the football! and quite often, it is for a touchdown! i feel like his comments may have been taken out of context- think about it, the man is utterly bewildered and probably quite hurt about the fact that he wasn't given any playing time despite being re-signed in the offseason and compared to art monk by joe gibbs. and he hears this stuff about how he practices, and maybe he is thinking "i'm doing the best i can at practice but PRACTICE is never going to be perfect, that's why you have to practice in the first place" and is frustrated at being held to an impossible standard. that's just speculation though- maybe he really just does have a bad attitude, in which case i say get rid of him! he is a MILLIONAIRE for playing a game- if he can't appreciate that and work hard at it to earn it, he doesn't deserve it.

If Coles has his toe surgery and recovers fully, he IS our speed WR. He's fast catches well and is definitely a top WR in the league when healthy. The problem is that he may or may not have the surgery. If he doesn't, then he's a possession WR and we definitely need a speedster. If he does, then we won't know if he is going to heal fully, or at all apparently.
Now what do we do? It comes down to the fact that we need to sign a fast WR who can catch. Like I said before, that would be Burress, Mushim or Patten. TJ isn't an option because of the past he has with Taylor. If Coles gets surgery and heals fully, then we got two speedsters who can catch. Throw in Jacobs, Thrash(great possession receiver) and possibly antonio brown, and we would be set.
If Coles doesn't heal well, then we still got a decent group, and Jacobs/Brown would get some more playing time to prove themselves...
This McCants thing has really got things screwed up, because I'm pretty sure Gibbs was going to keep him and give him the shot at #2. I don't see how he can do that now that McCants has started mouthing off...

ok...I'll bite and stir the pot. When was the last time you saw Coles go deep, or should I say be successful going deep? Granted our OL needs help to give PR time, but I don't believe Coles is our deep threat. Yea, he's fast, but he's more of our possession receiver - for starters, he's too short. I'd like to see him #2 behind the likes of Muhammed or Moss. I don't like Moss as a person, but would love to see if Gibbs could turn him into a team first player. Muhammed....why would anyone be upset if we landed him. Except for the contract demands, this guy is an absolute stud that would make our offense better immediately. Both of these guys would.
Gardner is not the answer and Jacobs is still WIP and not a #1 either.
Lastly, if Coles is going to have surgery, get it done already. I for one and damn tired about hearing about the toe. Get it fixed and rehab to be ready for camp.

Did I just say I wanted Moss?
I'd also consider adding Porter to my list for the right price. I didn't realize he was a FA.
