Madden was put in a bad situation, the exclusive licensing was being sold to the highest bidder, either pay up or lose the ability to put real NFL players in the game.

It's not like they actively went out and got this deal done, it was a proposition of buy or die.

1st of all nobody is seriously bashing you beloved Madden. This is strictly for fun.

Besides if ESPN sucked so bad then why would Madden be in a buy or die position? Sega just was bankrupt, remeber? They surely don't have the money.
