Sean Taylor lost the game!

Did that get everyone's attention? First I will never say that one guy lost a game for us, but if he doesn't horribly misplay that 39 yard TD we most likely would have never been talking about Gibbs' play calling. We don't need to be thinking about anything except fixing our offensive line. Earlier in the game Gibbs threw the ball on third and short and couldn't run out the clock at the end of the game. This team just plain and simple doesn't power block well and they don't pull well. They just don't run block well at all. Gibbs has no faith in them and that is why he gives up on them against better deffenses. He thinks that he has a better chance throwing the ball and I don't blame him. Last year I thought the problem was Spurier and Helton, but the real problem is this team just CAN NOT run block!!! Bugel is not the problem! This group of "Dirt Bags" is!!! I would scrap the whole lot of them, except Jansen of course. Dockery and Raymer would make good backups! That line should feel ashamed of themselves.
I still don't know why most people are talking about drafting defense. The last I checked we have plenty of young playmakers on that side of the ball. And today is the first game that you can lay at their feet. 1 out of 15, not bad! And if the offensive side of the ball had contributed I would be going to the Minny game next week with something to chear for!

If you are talking about cheering for the playoffs, we are out anyways. The 8th and final spot is between the saints and the Panthers. We needed the panthers to lose but they beat the crap out of the Bucaneers.

Sean Taylor had to cover Keyshawn in the middle... We just... Suck. I admit it.

That was Springs's man to cover, but he was busy looking into the backfield and let the guy get behind him.

Bad spots all day, no penalties called on the home team when blatantly cheating, and bogus penalties called on the visitors, certainly didn't hurt the 'Pies chances any.

Like I said in another post I believe Springs was where he was supposed to be. I believe he was taking away the hook route, and the hard inside slant that Smoot got burnt on repeatedly. Taylor was supposed to be covering over the top but was out of position.

To and extent I agree with you but then again you're supposed to do what you're told. None of us know exactly where any of our players were supposed to be but to those of us who know a bit about coverages can assume that Taylor was supposed to be Springs help over the top. Using the word help is misleading. He wasn't helping Springs cover the man, Taylor was supposed to be there to take away the pass to the outside. If you remeber Springs was lagging behind and inside of the receiver to take away the short pass.

If:
- Taylor lost the game, then give Dallas a TD in the first half when he stripped <???> of the ball at the goal line. Final score?
- Springs lost the game, then give Dallas a TD pass. Final score?
*
One botched play from a great Redskins defense that kept the team in a position to go ahead with a TD.
BUT: explain to me how Ramsey and the offense looked so good on the TD drive, and so confused before that? I don;t know the answer...this question is for information, not for rhetorical effect.

If you are turned around looking at the QB, and a guy runs by you, then you see the throw an go running toward him, you made a mistaks/miscalculation/misjudgement/whatever.
However, my point wasn't to bash Springs, my point was to point out that you can't put the loss all on Taylor.
What about the amount of time Coles ran off the clock with his run after the catch in the middle of the field leaving us just 5 seconds and no choice by to try a 54 yard FG with a back-up kicker?

What about Thrash not making a key block on Newman which could have possbily sprung Coles to go all the way? I believe Coles made a great effort and I believe that with Hall in here we could have made that FG.

You are supporting my point. The title of the thread is that Taylor lost the game for us. The truth is we lost the game at 100 minor moments, not one big one.

Man we have the most fickle fans in sports. ST did not lose this game. How many turn overs did we have? Oh yeah, how many points did we score? 10, once again, if we SCORE more then 17 points we win. To blame the lose on a defensive player on a defensive team that only allowed 13 points. You have issues.

Its Greg Williams Fault for being so aggressive with 40 seconds left in the game.
I hate the 'Prevent defense, but it should have been utilized in that situation.
Remember the Greenbay VS. Phili game??

I can agree with that but then again I believe we've should stick to our style of gameplay we've been using all year and thats wut we've been doing.
In that situation we should have used it because our how anemic our offense is.
You're right.

Smoot and Jimoh were out of the game that left a LB on there 3rd WR .... that's a no win situation

I didn't know that. Wasn't Meshawn the slot/3rd WR? If thats the case, and I wish I would have known that earlier then Shawn Taylor was correct in paying so much attention to Meshawn.
I think that this situation won't be resolved on our end until we hear an interview from Gregg on the situation.
I originally thought ST was out of position and that Springs was playing under the WR to stop the short pass.
Maybe ST was still out of position in his help on the 3rd WR, maybe he should have been deeper back but was trying to compensate for the slowness of the LB.

You really can't blame the D on this one.
As I read in a Wilbon article, its to bad that we wasted 59 mins 30 seconds of great defence.
We really need to focus on our offence this upcoming off-season

Everyone is reading way to much into this. The failure to stop the game winning touchdown goes on the whole defense. There was no pass rush on that play. Springs did what he was supposed to do and released the man to the next zone. The problem was that two receivers had entered the zone, and Taylor had already committed to help on Johnson. When the strong safety dropped back to help on Keyshawn, Taylor immediately released and went to cover Crayton, only a split second too late. Let's also not forget that due to the massive amount of injuries, the Redskins had linebackers lining up on receivers at that point.
It was a well executed play that beat the zone defense called. No one is to blame and everyone is to blame.
Really???
