Ricky Williams on 60 Minutes

Anyone see the 60 Miinutes episode last night, featuring Ricky Williams? LoL.

All I can say is......nothing..I'm speechless.

He sounds a lil kookoo to me, but man o man! He kept smiling like every second and he was all happy and gay, so I guess he's better off.

They asked him if he would consider playing football again and playing with the Raiders, because the Raiders like "wierdos like you", but he says he doesn't know.

I don't think he likes all the pain and roughness though, he's probably scared of breaking his bones. But hey..

He didn't apologize for leaving the Fins in the air either.
I just don't know about this Ricky charactar. 8)

Can you believe, a number of our brethren wanted to trade for him ?

I think Gibbs knows a certain Somebody who coulda turned him around. But, yeah, I'm glad he didn't come here.

I saw it, and man am I disappointed in this guy. What a waste of God-given talent and braincells. Where is his family? He's needs some voice of reason.

Could anyone make out what the hell the cult like figure he's working with said? The ritualistic healing mumbo jumbo is a crock and a good excuse to take another bong hit.

I really enjoyed his comparison of weed to sugar. CooCoo!

I don't understand the uproar over his retirement. If you take out the part about the marijuana then Barry Sanders did the exact same thing when he retired, and the reaction wasn't nearly as negative. All the talk about loyalty and that he abandoned his team is a load of crap. The minute you start paying people to do something is the minute loyalty goes out the window. Its his life, and if he wants to spend it smoking marijuana rather than playing football, then so be it.

 And if he wants to spend his life signing contracts that give his word to provide his hard work to a football franchise, and later on just randomly decide to go back on that, then so be it. . . Why should anyone react negatively to that?

He's crazy as a bedbug...

and I have no problem with the concept that it's "his life and he can do with it what he pleases". If he had decided, before the draft, that he'd rather fly around the world smoking "ganja" than play in the NFL I'd have no problem with it. It would've been nice, though, if he hadn't left his team and his teammates in the lurch with no viable alternative at running back. I think the man's insane, I really do and I think that time will bear that out.

THE NEWS

After a conversation with Ricky Williams, Coach Nick Saban told the Miami Herald on Thursday that the running back/faith healer is "very, very interested" in returning to play for the Dolphins. The paper also reports that "several people associated with Williams…believe he will return to the Dolphins in July." Williams is back in the States after spending a month in India doing yoga and holistic medical training. He recently settled a paternity suit with the mother of one of his three children that will require him to pay $4,000 per month in child support, place $300,000 in a trust for the child, and purchase a $500,000 life insurance policy on himself with the child as a beneficiary. He also owes the Dolphins $8.6 million for breaching his contract. By returning in July, Ricky could avoid a one-year suspension under the NFL's drug policy. His retirement last July was considered a fourth violation of the policy (he tested positive three previous times), which calls for an automatic suspension, however that can be avoided if he sits out a whole year. Williams never was punished for the second and third violations. Accordingly, he would almost certainly face a fine and a four-game suspension if he does return to the team

OUR VIEW

There have been grumblings about a possible return for Ricky for the last year, but this represents the strongest on-the-record expression of optimism about him coming back to the team. Unless he got a multi-million dollar signing bonus from Ayurveda, the school for holistic healing he's been attending in California, he's probably a bit thin in the wallet, which makes his main motivation for a possible return obvious. From a fantasy perspective, this would throw a huge wrench into the Dolphins' backfield situation. The team drafted running back Ronnie Brown with the No. 2 overall selection in the draft, which would make for an awfully crowded (and expensive) backfield by committee. A trade of Williams is a possibility, but the market for running backs has proven to be nearly non-existent this year, as backs like Travis Henry, Shaun Alexander, and Edgerrin James could have been had for the right price but have had no takers thus far. The Dolphins would also have cap issues if Williams came back. Unfortunately, Ricky probably can't even announce his intentions to return, should he take that path, until after July 28th to avoid the one-year suspension, so this situation isn't likely to be resolved until just before training camps open.

hatsoff, for a minute you had me thinking I'd missed some interesting TV last night. (This coulda been a thread on its own, IMO)

Either way, I think this is good news for the Fins, or for whichever team will trade for him. He was a stud, who went off to graze for a while, and now has the hunger to return...

...not to mention $4200/mo alimony payments on top of a $300K trust fund promise.

Ricky's gotta get back to work!

Hehe....well I thought I should have started a new one...but I thought the mods would come after me again.
I wonder if Ricky will actually do as good as he did BEFORE the drugs. It's going to be interesting.

I'm anxious to see some recent pics of the guy. He was a thick dude before transitioning into the guy pictured above. I wonder if he lifted at all during his time off. Is it even conceivable for him to be "back" this year?

He probably has piercing and crazy things like that. Remember Dennis Rodman? I can imagine RWilliams looking somewhat like him.
Do you think they'll keep him? I don't think they're going to keep him; probably going to trade him.

I think they need to keep him and play him, in order to raise his market value. The Miami fan base will not forget what Ricky did to their team, and it might get a little uncomfortable for him in South Florida, but, which team would be willing to take on his contract at THIS point in time? I say rehab him until he's back on his feet...and ship him to Arizona. My 2 cents

I don't know about piercings, but I'm hoping he grows a bush á la Randy Moss. I like the players with the big hair. That's why I like Brunell (sideburns)

You like BRUNELL??

Ohhh...I was about to say....I thought you liked him because of his play on the field! I haven't really noticed what he looks like exactly....(I haven't checked his sideburns out)

Talk about a waste of talent. Most people would practically sell their souls to play in the NFL.

But I guess its the same as the guy with the super-hot girlfriend that consistently cheats on her: you don't know or appreciate what you got till its gone.

That settles it. I'm buying Redeemed a cookbook for Non-Denominational Winter Celebration Day. To Serve Man.

I've been cooking since I was twelve. Ain't no big deal.

I think Williams looks like a man that just got out of jail in those pictures. Again it could be what I see everyday is tainting my opinion here. Anyone else see that?

And Redeemed a woman that can cook is at the top of your list?? I have never read anything about being able to make an omelet in the bible?? :?

More women need to trulyfollow the Bible. IMO.

I just searched both the Old and New Testaments (yay interweb!) and found no mention of women cooking eggs. Lots of begging, a few mentions of eggs, but no mention of women cooking them. Also, there's no omlettes in the Bible.
