The Blaine Fan Club is hoping for Blaine Sumner NT for our last choice. He is not undersized just played for an undersized school.
He may be a guy we can get as an undrafted FA

We are afraid of that word "may." But as the scout reports said - he most likely will go undrafted. Undrafted FA may be our only shot at him (there that word again).

Pick 224 = DE Markus White FSU
White has very good size, enough athleticism, and appears to still have some upside which would allow him to contribute as a backup 4-3 weakside defensive end. Probably lacks the first-step quickness, polish and stoutness against the run to be viewed as a future starter. Displays some potential as a pass rusher but isn't overly explosive and needs technical refinement. Adequate against the run but has difficulty anchoring against true road-graders or the double-team. Can struggle to find the football at times. Team captain with good character. White might hear his named called on Day 3.

So is he projected as an OLB or ILB for us?
OK I see the post above.

No player on the roster is entering the season with higher expectations and bigger shoes to fill … White will be asked to replace Everette Brown who dominated the ACC last year while racking up 13.5 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss … coaches believe White has the potential to fill the void left by Brown and be the next top defensive lineman to come out of Tallahassee … White is an explosive pass rusher with a never-ending motor … caused havoc all spring and showed what he is capable of in the annual Garnet & Gold Game where he recorded a sack, two tackles for loss, three unassisted tackles and caused a fumble … described by veteran defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews as `one of the most dedicated players' on the team … named the most dependable defensive end following spring practice … also won the second effort award.
Starting senior defensive end on the right side is in his third season at Florida State … widely recognized for his relentless motor on the field … is enjoying his best season with the Seminoles, posting career-highs for tackles (58), tackles for loss (12.5) and quarterback sacks (8.5) … ranks fifth on the team in tackles, which include 37 solo stops … has started all 13 games for the Noles … put together a seven-game streak with at least a half-sack in each game … has teamed with left defensive end Brandon Jenkins to form one of the most dynamic pass rushing tandems in the nation, combining for 21.5 sacks … FSU leads the nation with 46 sacks … posted a career-high eight tackles against NC State, which he matched a week later against North Carolina … credited with a tackle for loss in each of the last 11 games … ranks 15th all-time at FSU in career tackles for loss with 28.5, passing Marvin Jones on that list with 1.5 against Virginia Tech in the ACC Championship game … also shares the team lead with two fumble recoveries this season, to go along with one forced fumble.

There is that "motor" word again - fits the theme.

Looks like he'll give Orakpo & Kerrigan a blow when they need it. Otherwise, most likely a special teamer and maybe an occasional 3rd down LDE or RDE in passing situations.
Probably right, but it looks like Shanny might be releasing a lot of current players on this roster and replacing them with "high motor" "high effort" guys.

Not likely... I suspect that multiple teams will be calling him... he will have his choice. That's why you use a pick on him.PAPDOG67 wrote:Red_One43 wrote:PAPDOG67 wrote:I still hope we grab Ian Williams with our next pick. A few words/phrases that keep popping up like... "dedicated players", "highly productive", "team captains" and "hard workers".... None of this year's picks were underclassmen

NT - Chris Neild
Neild is a run-stopping defensive tackle who could contribute in a defensive line rotation at the next level. He is stout with a strong lower half and is very difficult to move out of running lanes. He also has very active hands to keep blockers from getting inside and flashes the lateral range to make plays outside of the tackle box. However, he lacks explosion off the line and is very raw as a pass rusher. Neild possesses natural leverage and is an asset against the run and he will likely be a middle round pick.
