Can Robert earn a spot with an NFL team running some sort of hybrid offense? Perhaps, but I won't be surprised if no one wants him but replacing one of the great pocket passers of all time with Griffin? bahahahaahahah!!!!!!
I understand your reaction. But Griffin wouldn't be replacing one of the great pocket passers of all time. He would only have to replace a 40 year old, broken neck QB whose arm strength is gone, who was ranked 34th in the league this year and was benched for Brock freaking Osweiler. The only thing machine-like about Manning this year was the number of interceptions he threw. He ranked #2 with 17 INTs.
Anybody who watched the AFC championship game this year knows that Manning was horrible this year. So yeah, I think Griffin would probably be an upgrade.
Griffin has shown NO EVIDENCE of an ability to mentally process fast enough to run a pro offense that is why I find your suggestion absurd. After watching Robert flounder in the pocket under Shanny and Gruden I question whether Griffin is wired to be a NFL QB in a conventional offense. He didn't just miss with the Skins he missed badly. So unless Denver wants to scrap their pro offense and try their luck with a zone read high school/college style offense Griffin can run Rubort would be useless to them.
Outbidding the Skins for Cousins and paying the Skins 2 draft picks as compensation would make sense for Denver but not Griffin. They are the champs so giving up the last pick this year and presumably a late pick next would for a proven young polished pocket passer like Cousins makes sense because he could have them in the thick of the race again next year. Unless the Bronco's are high on Osweiler I think they'll make a run at Cousins. Going for McCoy would make a lot more sense than Griffin also. McCoy looked like he could run Gruden's offense in his limited outings whereas Griffin was a total bust.

Taking a flyer on McCoy would make sense or better yet outbidding the Skins for Cousins and paying the Skins 2 draft picks as compensation would also make sense for Denver but not Griffin. I have no idea what their thinking is. I personally think its most likely that they just put that story out about Griffin for leverage in negotiations with Osweiler.
Either way, I stand by the statement that Griffin would be an upgrade over broken 40 year old Peyton Manning for all of the reasons I stated previously. Griffin can't run a pro style offense? Manning ain't doing it much longer either.
You can calm down btw. I'm not saying RG3 is a super stud hall of famer ready to handle a pro style offenes. I'm saying Manning is clearly done. Its not hard to be an upgrade from that.

Almost certainly.
Peyton Manning would cost them $19m guaranteed next season. No way.

Kaepernick or Griffin: Who’s better at this point?
A source with extensive knowledge of both players shared this assessment with PFT at the Scouting Combine. Griffin lacks anticipation in this throwing and accuracy on his throws, and he can no longer run. Kaepernick also lacks anticipation and accuracy, but he can still move.
Both will need a system that maximizes their talents and conceals their flaws. But if Griffin can’t run like he did before tearing an ACL in 2012 (the source shares PFT’s unofficial belief that the ligament tore against Baltimore during the 2012 regular season, not during the playoff game against Seattle), Griffin simply won’t be able to make it.

this source has extensive knowledge & he knows that Griffin "can no longer run .." at the same time "if Griffin can't run like he did"
I don't have extensive knowledge but I'm sure that "Griffin can't run like he did .." - there's no "if" about it
If he cannot run at all, he will not be playing QB
this is insightful, to say the least
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Dianna Russini had to consult her "sources" to know that RGIII is being released before the Redskins have to pay him $16.1MM. I guess the fact they're $6.0 million over the cap and need money for free agency and the draft wasn't enough. No, she had to confirm it with anonymous "sources." I wonder who she blew this week.

I'd be really pleased if he can show that he can still play QB at a high level - he certainly got us all excited ...

Cowboys not interested in Griffin...but they are interested in McCoy.
That leaves: Rams, 49ers, Chiefs, Jets, and Texans as teams who would have a legitimate interest in Griffin. Unless he is ok with being a backup, I see the least likely team as the Chiefs. 49ers, unless they get rid of Kaepernick, is another one I don't see happening. It's the Rams, Jets, or Texans, IMO.

That would be a smart move on their part.

Better than even odds that Kaepernick is not a 49er next year, so I wouldn't dismiss that.

O'Brien is a former QB coach and OC from the Pats who runs a conventional NFL offense so I cannot imagine him having any interest in Griffin or for that matter Robert playing for O'Brien, Griffin needs to find a simpler offense to run.

wherever he goes - I hope he plays really well ... that would be kinda funny also
Whether he's a back-up QB or a starting QB, I'm sure he'll make a huge effort to do well and help the team ... it's what he's always done

I'll have to dig up the post a few weeks ago where I was scoffed at for saying Denver might be interested in Griffin.
Adam Schefter ✔ @AdamSchefter
With Brock Osweiler off to Houston, RGIII is on Broncos' list of replacement quarterbacks, per source. Could be visiting Denver.

Denver is also apparently interested on Colin Kaepernick, so they're only going after the finest failures at the position.

I agree with your snark. I think my point a few weeks ago though was that they are a team that showed they could hold up under poor QB play.

Cleveland is expected to reach agreement with former Redskins' QB Robert Griffin III today, per team source. Griffin III to be a Brown

Good landing spot for him with Coach Jackson and LeBron being the big name there...very low expectations ...he has nowhere to go but up. Best of luck to RG...I'm sure he'll circle the date of his trip to FedEx!

You called it man! I disagree about it being a good landing spot for him though. There's a reason they have the second pick in the draft this year, and that has probably been the #1 team where guys haven't wanted to sign or re-sign this offseason.
I said a week ago, I thought RG3 would be better off going somewhere to be a backup behind an established guy but I believed his ego would lead him to somewhere he would have a chance to be the starter. Just seems like a short sighted move on his part.
I like Hue Jackson though. And honestly I feel some sympathy for Browns fans.

Oh I absolutely agree with you, I’m saying good landing spot for him because of his desire to compete for a staring job and with Coach Jackson. Of course he’d be better served going to a team with an aging veteran and strong HC…would love to know if there was any interest from other teams that he turned down to compete as a starter??
