btw - great game and a shame to lose a game we could have won - the Packers were not that great - we did a lot of things badly
we were more out coached than out played - simply put, they adjusted and we did not
there will be some changes to look forward to here but the foundation has been set and Scot & the FO have a lot to work with
As I have said, if I'm wrong, I own up to it.
As far as the game, completely agree that we were outcoached. No question there. GB made adjustments that we didn't have an answer for. GB was also able to quickly identify our weaknesses; which are the DB, OL, and DL. They also replaced underperforming players mid-game..... Bill O'Brien should have been taking notes.... That being said, I don't think we "could have" won that game. GB was the better team.
The foundation is there. We do, however, need another year of overhaul in order to get this team truly competitive. For the first time in my adult life, I am excited (and not afraid) for the draft and what Scot will do.

For many season we've had our hopes and prayers killed by bad decisions and not having a plan
we now have hopes and a FO that has clearly shown they have a plan and how to execute it
I'm really excited about this off season and only hope that Dan Snyder lets these guys continue to fix the mess he created
we do have a lot of issues to address but from what we saw this last season, we can expect to be a playoff contender in 2016 - A M A Z I N G

HOPEFULLY.
We have a very difficult schedule next year. That being said, teams can change drastically year to year, so who knows --- but as it stands, I only count 6 "should definitely win" games....
God help us if that is all we win, but that is what I see as the "easy win" type.

I see 3 "easily winnable" games, and think it's not altogether unreasonable to think we can sweep the east as they are a mess.. another 9-7 record should be doable, add in a surprise victory vs a "good" team and we will be primed for another playoff run
HAIL Ya!!
*looking forward to going to the AZ game... Hope we can be competitive though... Because THAT team doesn't mess around and is SOLID in all three phases of the game

Brady had taken a few sacks and had been roughed up a lot. He was limping some. They could not run AT ALL and Brady was a measly 22-31 for 231 with multiple hurries and rag-doll knockdowns. So Bill thinks "Screw this. We are gonna kick with the wind. If they drive for a TD and beat us - fine. If we pin them back and make them punt into this wind we might not even need a 1st down to get a FG and win."
"Hey, Slater - if we win the toss tell 'em we wanna kick that way."

Both Deadskins and I
have heard Belicheat confirm this ... it's not a theory ... earlier, I mistakenly implied that Belicheat just wanted to kick off and that is what Slater did - in fact, they screwed up by saying they wanted to kick the ball and not which goal they wanted to defend
Deadskins is also correct in that Belicheat should have done a better job of making it clearer to Slater what he really wanted AND how to get it
The part about not wanting Brady to take a beating ???? I feel like a genius. Got a link to a transcript or video by any chance ?? Thanks!
See, my "theory" is Belichick was more concerned about Brady's health than winning. If true, he barely screwed up at all. ALL the talk I hear online is how he bungled giving himself the best chance to win when maybe what he was really after was his best chance to minimize the risk to Brady short of benching him.

DM - after that game, Belicheat basically said on air what you "theorized" - you have to remember that Belicheat gives VERY LITTLE to the press but he wanted to make it clear that Slater did not make a mistake, per se ...
it was a mumbled response and it was basically because he felt there was a good chance of going 3 and out and he thought that there was little chance that the Jets were going down and scoring a TD

We didn't lose the game vs. GB because of a f#<&ing coin toss decision. Leave to Skinsjock to screw up a thread.....
How about we discuss topics that are actually redskins related? We could discuss season review items such as:
1. Areas of improvement
Much more physical. Much better coaching all around. Made big plays in big moments.2. Strengths from the season
We have a QB who can win shootouts if we have to get in one. Thank goodness.3. Break out performers this year
Cousins, Moses, Will Compton4. Favorite games or plays of the year
Both Eagles games5. Overall grading of units (e.g., DL, OL, WRs, RBs, DBs, LBs)
QB: B
RB: C
OL: B-
WR: B+
DL: C (Very up and down)
LB: B
DB: COr we could discuss "moving forward" items like:
6. Potential FA acquisitions
A road grader at LG7. Which players may need to restructure their contracts
Goldson, Hall8. Which players may need to be cut
Garcon or Jackson. Or both need to restructure contract.9. Which players need to be resigned
Let's take another flier on Cousins10. 2016 schedule
Could be worseCome on, we are a skins forum. This is embarrassing.
Had a good season overall. 9-7 was a huge, unexpected step forward.
Need to have an offseason with little turnover. Get some consistency.
Keep Cousins. Replace Alf with a more downhill back. Find a big road grader at LG and/or C. A decent second TE. Be on draft/FA search for a starting WR to get us past the Garcon/Jax era. Find another inside LB next to Compton. In the secondary Jarrett and Breeland are obvious starters, but other two spots and depth worry me. Don't assume Dunbar takes huge step forward.
I think this offseason, even with Cousins now a bonafide franchise QB, you see the Redskins try to continue building the most physical football team in the league. Seems Gruden and the front office want that. They're going to have to get bigger and better in the front 7 on defense and offensively figure out the running game. Redskins were straight down middle of the league in attempts with one of the very worst averages in the league. That is commitment to the run. I think the lion's share of the offseason focus has to be on the defense.
Don't need any massive changes this offseason. Couple small changes here and there. Happy as a Skins fan.

Belicheat is incredibly thorough and totally full of himself ...
Like Deadskins posted - He screwed up by not helping Slater understand what he wanted when it was clear that Slater did not understand ...
BOT - the question of Griffin's 'status' needs to be clarified - the earliest that he can be cut is Feb. 8th - for those like me that were wondering why he's still here ...

Still not sure SJ gets what this theory is as opposed to what he keeps saying.
Hey, oj - relax, bro. Just part of the post-season wrap. I'll move on too.

No kiddin', bro. But the issue was related to SJ's angst concerning choices we may have made in the last game.
Big Moses fan here. Was dissed in 2014 but 2015 was killer. Seems like we have a chance to have a very good to great line with another year together.

the O line always takes longer to make right and is an area where we need starters as well as quality depth

This is my first post from a rather chilly London. I've been blogging all season for
http://www.unclesamsports.com, a fan site for the UK.
My last blog was an end season review, hope you may enjoy reading:

And I pretty much know you guys have far more in-depth knowledge of this great game!
