Yep. An ounce of extra confidence would be worth several pounds of big plays. Holding on to perfect throws would help that.

The QB rankings ... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000 ... 0_20151112

IMO Kirk Cousins has done OK - after 8 games, his play is a little bit like the whole franchise - not great but certainly not bad either

the product on the field has improved and we are certainly not the embarrassment that we have been recently

I'm actually looking forward to the next 8 games and seeing these players and coaches respond to the challenge of doing their jobs well

Don't jinx it, man. A loss this weekend could easily start an eight game swoon!

Nice feather in the cap.

Need to Know: Cousins, Redskins have improved dramatically on third down
http://realredskins.com/2015/11/13/need ... hird-down/

—The Redskins have improved dramatically on third down from last year. In 2014 they were among the worst in the league, getting first downs on just 31.5 percent of their third-down plays. This year they are converting at a 43.9 percent clip, tied for eighth in the NFL. And it’s not just a matter of having shorter distances to go; they have improved on both attempts with six or fewer yards to go (49.9 percent in 2014, 64.2 percent this year) and with seven yards or more to go (13.3 percent to 24.1 percent). The Redskins have scored five touchdowns on third down through eight games this year after scoring just three all of last year.

—One of the reasons that the Redskins have improved on third down is that Kirk Cousins is playing better on third down compared to last year. In 2014 he was among the worst quarterbacks in the league on third down.

—Another area where the Redskins have accomplished a solid turnaround is when it comes to sacks allowed. They gave up the second most in the league last year, 58. That included a six-game stretch from their ninth through their 14th game where they gave up 36 sacks. That was the most sacks allowed in a six-game span since the 1997 Cardinals. So far this year they have given up nine sacks, tied for the fewest in the NFL. They allowed two sacks in Week 2 and have given up no more than one in any other game. The lack of sacks allowed and the third-down success are undoubtedly related.

I don't see these numbers as definitive "proof" of anything. Its just good to see concrete improvement from Cousins.

I really think that these guys are going to respond after last week's game - that was not a good indication of where we are PLUS it's impossible to imagine seeing that many easy completions being dropped - not happening ... and the run game gets cranked up this week, big time

Drew Brees and Sean Payton are a bit of a worry but I've got a good feeling about this ...

Not bad:

Cousins is the first Redskins quarterback to post a perfect passer rating in a game with a minimum of 20 attempts and the first QB to do so in the NFL this season.

Cousins became the first Redskins quarterback ever to complete 80 percent of his passes and throw for 300 yards with four touchdowns passing and no interceptions. He’s only the 13th quarterback in NFL history to post these numbers.

SkinsJock wrote:well i'm very relieved to hear from the guys that know it all, that there's a perfectly good explanation for what we've seen from Cousins and he'll be fine for the rest of the season and get a big fat contract that he so clearly deserves to play for us forever behind the O line he needs and with the weapons he so clearly deserves - that settles that

THANKS - 8 games to go and we can begin the speculation on how big his salary should be to keep him here - can't wait

Oddly enough your sarcastic statement was 100% correct!!!! ROTFALMAO

Yesterday, we did more off (and outside)-tackle runs than we have in any of our previous games this year on a % basis --- as I had continually said we needed to do. Our OL gave Cousins MEDIOCRE protection --- not even good; just decent --- and look what he was able to do. As we have learned, all Cousins needed was an average OL output and run game --- and he posted a perfect passing rating. While I know it was against the worst DEF in the NFL, he was able to put up better numbers and passer ratings than guys like Luck, Ryan, Newton, and Palmer.

Now, I also loved your sarcasm about Cousins playing "forever"..... which makes no sense. Whether he is fine for the rest of the season --- that's up to him. He'll have to continue his upward progression, which appears more likely now than it has at any point (but again, we'll see). As far as his 2016 and on contract, hopefully we'll get him at a rate that's less than RGIII is making this year...... and that's assuming he'll actually sign with us...... :lowblow:

 Really? In franchise history? That's incredible.

Very nice!

Did you see the look on Sean's face when Drew decided to go for that 4th down - oh boy

now it's on to Carolina and a bit of a test against a very good unit - the Panthers are #5 in scoring defense and #9 in total defense

any given Sunday ...

He's also on pace to break the consecutive TD passes in a game. He's tied the record at 9.

his stats dont lie from last weekend
