Just an update Scot M. has already signed some free agent tackles to help out on the Oline.
Going by best player available I dont think Scot is going to go Oline being that there are no surefire LT prospects. Which according to value charts RT prospects do not usually go as high as top ten or fifteen for that matter.
In hindsight look what TTit did. They drafted a guard who has literally turned the pies into a playoff team.
So believe me I am not against drafting a right tackle or guard.
For me if that right tackle can dominate right away. Oh yeah lets get him.
But I do believe that Scot is going to go value and stay true to that and weigh in need as well.
Heres what I see happening. Winston and Marriota go in the first two picks the order I dont know depends on who the Bucs n Titans prefer? Jacksonville will likely go with Williams.
Raiders at no. 4 will probably go defense in my opinion or whoever I have no clue what the Raiders will do? does anyone?
At this point I see no one wanting to trade up so we have to pick.
I see us going with Danny Shelton NT out of Washington. The value of a good NT cannot be understated. We have had two pro bowl caliber pass rushers and look were our defense has been? Still sub par.
Like I said I wouldnt mind us getting Scherff, Ray, Collins any player who can contribute right away. But I have my money on us getting Shelton. The Value is there and the need is there.
Look all around the league. There are fewer quality NTs then even quality QBs. The most sought after position is QB for which there is a shortage. NT I would say is the most important position for our 3-4. So I would say it would be worth it. Danny Shelton guys. Get familiar with that name. I think it would be wise to get him.

Im liking the option of trading down 1 spot to the jets more and more lately. its looking like if you fo pure BPA picking that early there are a couple NTs that would be perfect for us.
Anyone know the trade value for that? could we get a #3 this year and a #2 next year?

If we traded down, from 5 to 6 the Jets would need to come up with 100 points or a 4th rounder plus a 7th rounder or a 2016 pick
the tables are here

I've seen some mixed reviews on Scherff lately - people aren't completely sold on him at OT. Mike Mayock/NFL network is pretty highly respected for player evaluations. He has Scherff listed as the best guard in the draft, but not OT.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000 ... -nfl-draftNot saying we shouldn't draft him, just that he's not been the unanimous can't miss guy that some of those d-line guys like Williams, Ray and Gregory seem to be. Guess we'll see.
I like your idea of drafting a top notch RT who can play opposite Trent for the next eight years more than I like "drafting Brandon Scherff". If its Andrus Peat or La'el Collins or Scherff or whomever, great. I'm glad its McGloughan making that pick this year and not Bruce Allen.

I'm not sure that Scherff is THE guy to take - I just like his attitude - he's a mean player and his run blocking is awesome - we need to get more production out of our run game - I'll tell you one thing, he may not be a great OT (or OG) right now but he's a whole lot better than what we had on the right side last season
whoever we get at 5 is going to be a very good player BUT we are not suddenly a better offense or defense because of 1 player
we need guys capable of starting & playing well on both offense and defense - it will take a few drafts to do that
the offensive line always takes a little longer to develop and I'm hoping we'll have a good O line in 2017
there are a few good O line guys in this draft and I think we'll see Scot go that route even though the 'value' is not 'right'
and
hopefully we can trade down and pick up more picks

I am completely on board with this. I am getting used to the name Danny Shelton. It would be wonderful if we could trade down to someone like the Jets and land this guy anyway while picking up an extra pick but even if we can't this guy might be worth the fifth pick in the draft:
Danny Shelton, DT, Washington. Previous Rank: 9
2/11/15: Shelton was one of the stars of the Senior Bowl as he had a superb week of practice. Shelton also interviewed well with teams. He has a rare combination of power, quickness and natural strength.
Shelton was one of the nation's leaders in sacks for a defensive tackle in 2014 with nine. He totaled 87 tackles and 16.5 tackles for a loss, too. The 6-foot-2, 343-pounder is a big, disruptive tackle who has a surprising burst.
Shelton recorded 12 tackles with three tackles for a loss and two sacks to open this season. He was unblockable for Hawaii's offensive linemen. Incredibly, Shelton took his game to another level against Eastern Washington as he had four sacks, 4.5 tackles for a loss and eight solo tackles. Shelton was a man on fire and astoundingly productive.
In 2013, Shelton turned in 59 tackles with 3.5 tackles for a loss and two sacks. He had an excellent bowl game against BYU with seven tackles and a lot of disruption at the point of attack. Shelton recorded 45 tackles, .5 sacks and four tackles for a loss in 2012.

I am all on board the Danny Shelton train. That guy could anchor a damn aircraft carrier, let alone the middle of our line for the next 10 years. 3-4 needs a strong middle (nt-middle backers-safety), and this guy is the equivalent of two strong middles!

Those of you who remember my drumbeat about our lack of a real NT won't be surprised to hear me say that I'd be real happy with Shelton if Williams isn't there... But, idk whom would be BPA on the Skins board...

Just to throw a new scenario out I havent seen...
We trade the #5 pick to the rams for their 1st round, 2nd round, and Sam Bradford...
Thoughts?

I'd only do this if we could trade RGIII for a pick. If not, I'd rather have a 3rd rounder next year. Like we need to throw another qb into our qb mess-- this makes it worse! Qb controversies never mean wins!

Id be ok with that. I think Bradford would be better to have than RG3. Next year we could draft a QB to actually not start, sit under Bradford for a year or 2, then by 2017 we have a long term splution at QB that has talent around him

Sam Bradford? The Rams would have to throw in a couple more one's for us taking him off their cap.

Why trade or get rid of any player that might help this franchise
we need to make things better and we need to keep players that are young and might help this franchise
why on earth would you add Bradford (or any player) when you don't know what you've got

the guys in charge at Redskins Park do not appear to agree with you on this ... neither do I
why not keep Cousins and Griffin, determine what we have - address the O line issues as well as the QB IF we have to ...

You know, its also possible the Bucs takr Mariota if he has a good pro day showing, or if they like the idea of a mobile QB better.
So what if Winston were the one to drop to 5? Would his trade value be different? Would we remotely consider drafting him?

Yeah what has Bradford done to show he's better than RGIII? Not to mention people are always bitching about Griffin's durability, Bradford has torn his ACL two years in a row now.
