Good to hear. That's going to be a good rotation at DE with Jenkins and Bowen

Moss and Gaffney both count over $2 million against the cap. Moss could be used in the slot. What good is Gaffney going to do given that we are adding Garcon and Morgan (who is a Hookie and who I am obligated to cheer against).

Why he has a much lower number than either one of the two we just signed will have. I think he is like $2M.

Not sure I understand the Morgan signing. He hasn't really done much of anything in his career so far and only played in 5 games last season. Not sure what he brings to the table.

Josh Morgan averaged 14.7 and 15.8 yards per catch over the past two seasons. Played in just 5 games last year (fractured ankle in OCT).

When healthy, he stretches the field.

That would be dumb. Cut Gafney for a guy you are going pay a lot more that has produced less than him over the past three years.

Gafney is coming off his best season (higher yards higher catch than Garcon). He will be our best WR and he is cheap and you want to cut him! BRILLIANT!

Garcon isn't an upgrade over Gafney!

49ers working to re-sign free agent receiver Morgan

Posted by Evan Silva on March 11, 2012, 4:48 PM EDT

Two sources tell the Sacramento Bee that the 49ers are making a “strong push” to re-sign wide receiver Josh Morgan in advance of Tuesday’s free agency commencement. Morgan has been with the team since 2008.

Though Morgan has totaled only 1,764 yards and nine touchdowns across four NFL seasons, the Niners think more highly of the 26-year-old than his stats indicate. Specifically, according to the Bee’s Matt Barrows, the 49ers view Morgan’s production “more as an indication of the 49ers’ lackluster passing attacks” than his ability.

Morgan is a well-built 6-foot and 219 pounds, and he’s considered a strong blocking receiver. Morgan ran a 4.47 forty-yard dash coming out of Virginia Tech and has flashed the ability to stretch defenses vertically as well as rack up yards after the catch.

Some speculation and reports have connected Morgan to the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he’d have no trouble cracking the starting lineup. But the Niners want Morgan back to be their No. 2, lining up opposite Michael Crabtree.

2,650,000 is Gaffney's cap hit

4,817,000 is Moss's hit

Gaffney is useless. No abaility to do anything with the ball after he catches it. Moss would do very well in the slot. Garcon starts, Hankerson will take Gaffney's spot. A receiver that catches the ball and immediately falls down serves no purpose in today's NFL, just go watch the Packers or Saints on offense.

Source told @FOXSports.com that #Colts WR Pierre Garcon signed 5-yr, $42.5M contract with #Redskins. Roughly $21.5M guaranteed.

They were counting on teaming him with Moss... but, who would you want as your QB if you were a receiver? Smith? or RG3...

When you say cap hit? Do you mean how much they count against the cap in 2012? or do you mean how much we would pay to cut them?

Some not so good news...

@AdamSchefter
In addition to trying to sign WR Vincent Jackson, Buccaneers trying to sign G Carl Nicks. Two top free agents could be Tampa bound.

I appreciate getting our new QB some shiny new sports cars to play with (characterization not intended to undermine my opinion of their value), but it'd be really nice if we could turn our attention to bringing in some help in keeping him upright.

(oh, AND WHERE THE HELL IS THE FLETCHER DEAL?)
I know he got a pretty good zip on the ball. He has a quick release. . . once I seen a coupla' throws, I was just like 'Yeah, he's that dude.'"

I don't really see Shanny going after Nicks anyway, kinda big for his scheme. I think he'd be more apt to go after Grubbs...

We could really use Vjax, these other guys are second rate at best.

They both will make about $2,650,000 but their cap hits include prorated bonus money and Moss will get a $500,000 roster bonus that Gaffney won't

I think his contract could be more incentive laden. Also not all the guarantees could count against the cap. Don't ask me which ones or how it works but the guys on NFL radio talked about it.

There is no way he got that. That is more than what Colston got! $8M a year for a guy that has had almost IDENTICLE production over the past three years to a guy who is on your team that only cost you $2M/year!

No wonder he was the first FA to sign. His agent said, "quick sign this before these retards figure out what they just offered you"!
