Point being we didn't give up a whole lot, we still have a first this year and its for a franchise qb.. to me that's priceless and I would have spent more. The second this year is a drag but w all the picks we got last year and having still a total of 7 THIS year... We didn't give up what some like to think.
I get being nervous but watch rgiii read his interviews then ask yourself who you'd rather have that was available?
The Rams asked for each teams best offer, the Browns offered both ones this year and their first next year, we all know what we offered. Rumor is the Browns later included their 2nd round pick this year. That would have gotten the pick for them but to the Rams, they (the Browns) didn't give their best offer when asked for.

The way many teams are being left out in the cold right now, I'm glad the Redskins were decisive and got who they wanted.
The 49ers and Titans screwed up their chemistry by alienating their Qb's. The Dolphins and Browns missed out on Flynn and Peyton. They're grabbing guys like Garrard.. No thanks.

And tennehill/ weeden... Not bad guys, but not first round material if everyone came out vs stay in school. We one Joes the market and get rgiii...
Epic trade.imo.
I think the rams might assume our two later year ones are worth more then two THIS year... Weak draft class and all I can see it

The Titans will be fine. Hasslebeck and Locker is a nice combo to have. Hasslebeck has been around the NFL for a long time, he's not going to get his panties in a bunch over a play to get one of the best qbs of all time. The Browns still have McCoy and two first rounders. All will be forgotten in San Fran when Smith re-signs there. The Dolphins, though, are a mess.

If RGIII doesn't pan out -- the possibility of giving up 3 top 10 picks is high.
I agree that there is cause for concern (or as I put it "cautiously optimistic") but I can breathe easier knowing that we're going to draft a QB instead of signing another "sure fired Vet".

The Redskins did give up some draft picks for RGIII .... time will show that they made a great move
Shortly, this trade will be looked at as a complete steal on our part and hopefully a big boost for the Rams
There is NO WAY that anyone can convince me that this franchise would be better off in 2014 if we had brought in Matt Flynn OR any FA QB AND had fantastic luck with the draft picks we gave up
We're talking about the 38th pick in this draft and our first round picks in 2013 and 2014 - ARE YOU KIDDING ME - FOR A FUTURE GREAT QB
12 to 15 years of having possibly our best QB EVER
THIS IS A STEAL FOR THE REDSKINS - I hope that the Rams do well with their picks .. or they AND the Browns will be SO MAD

Yes, I am --- BUT it is HUGE risk and if he flops, we are upeek not having a first round pick until 2015. There is no parachute on this one. Sorry, but this isn't Andrew Luck. The franchise just gave up a TON TON TON of future talent on a risk.

You could also look upon this trade as Landry, Campbell and Rogers traded for a legitimate franchise QB prospect since draft picks are just that ... gambles that have no guarantee of attaining star players that provide years of quality production for the team. All three of those 1st round picks were busts for the Redskins ... more importantly ... in the Case of Campbell, there was a considerable waste of years of mediocre production that held this team in limbo.
The QB position is unique among the positions on the field ... high quality production at the QB spot translates into more success for the entire team as measured against any other position, including the number of years you can get from them.
In the case of both Luck and RG3, both of these guys have special qualities that aren't always available, and getting one of these guys is a huge upgrade for a team that hasn't had a top talent at that most critical position for many years.
And even though draft picks always present the possibility of not panning out, the Luck - RG3 situation is a little different. Neither one of these guys is considered a big risk for failure ... no "buts" in their profile or scouting reports. They have exceptional talent ... they have exceptional intelligence ... and the are absent of any of those off field or character issues that pose hidden risks.
I'd say both guys present the "safest" risk/reward ratio one can expect, with the likelihood of success very strong.

I think the Browns are definitely screwed for the 2012-2013 season. No Flynn, Manning, RGIII, Garrard, Orton...who's left? Another losing season with McCoy? I'm just glad we pulled the trigger first.

RG3 being an "A" student goes a long way with me, but I seem to remember that Heath Shuler was a great student too. Nevertheless, I do believe that most big talent busts fail because of brain issues. It seems that everything else is being well evaluated these days.

That's true, along with the situational issue which the player finds himself ... what support around him ... coaching ... system that fits the talent strengths .... all of those things play a role.
I suspect RG3 will have a better situation with the Redskins than Luck will have with the Colts, who have a new coaching and FO staff ... lot's of new players, and really are "rebuilding" from the ground up. RG3 has a team with continuity ... some young and experienced talent to help him ... a decent defense ... and an aggressive offensive philosophy of throwing down field, with a good running game which he also serves as a threat.
It would not surprise me if he turns in a Cam Newton like performance this year ... in which case, the Redskins will pose a formidable challenge in the NFC East.

I've had multiple copies appear when I hit submit only once. Though it hasn't happened for a while.

I read that post about how would you feel if our big QB move in the offseason was David Garrard....and I threw up a little in my mouth.
This is a move that I agree with at this point in time. History will tell us if it was a great or stupid move, but we needed a QB other than the average ones like Orton, Grossman, Beck, Smith......Manning wanted no part of us for whatever reason.....so we were agressive in pursuing a potential franchise QB through the draft. If it doesn't work out, I will not resent the fact that the team at least took the gamble on talent that most projected to be star caliber, regardless of Luck or RGIII.
I like where the Skins are sitting WRT QB far better than several other teams...........

Josh Johnson to visit Redskins on Wednesday
I'm hearing he'll get into town on Wednesday but won't visit until Thursday. If I'm wrong somebody should tell Josh that Mike, Bruce and Kyle will be in Waco on Wednesday.

Josh doesn't need to worry... nobody stays overnight in Waco on purpose... unless they are in the Army or going to school... They'll be back in plenty of time.
