I'd love to have him on the roster, but I think Cleveland will be nabbing him unfortunately.
So you're saying that neither Luck nor RGIII will be available with the 6th pick? I was really hoping for Luck in the first round, Kalil in the second, and Blackmon in the fifth....
I think every poster on the board is acutely aware that a trade up will be needed in order to obtain either player.
Both Shanahans know that they need to improve at QB next year in order to survive the next offseason; they can't afford to go into next year without "their guy" in the lineup (and preferably starting). If Luck or RGIII is that player, then one of them will be a Redskin next year.

As of 11/27/07, I resolve to never again read any version of the Washington Post.

Agreed.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!
I would be very surprised if Luck/RGIII are available at our #6 spot. With that said, I did a lot of college football watching -- QBs in particular this season and am not sure that RGIII will be equipt to run our offense. He tucks and runs a great deal -- something MS doesn't like.
The way he runs his Baylor offense will not work in the NFL. I also was not very impressed with his outing against Washington -- in fact, I was much more impressed by Keith Price of Washington. He may very well become a top QB in next years draft.
That said -- after watching Luck yesterday there is no comparison between the two in terms of NFL abiliity. Luck is highly accurate, has adequate NFL arm strength, makes quick decisions, stays in the pocket, sacrafices his body to stay in the pocket, reads defenses extremely well -- and makes good audiables at the line, commands the offense, etc. etc. etc.
I am never one to say this, but I would actually spend 2 first rounders and 2 thirds to get Luck. After watching now 2 Stanford games, I now see why scouts are all over this kid. I did not see one single deficiency. The only question mark is due to the fact he has a superior OL in front of him -- although he did make some great throws under pressure yesterday.

No way the Rams make that deal.
Not sure. They may take that. The Rams desperately need OL and they already have a QB -- but I believe they would want draft picks over players. They could take that trade, get Williams and draft the OT from Stanford or Iowa -- not bad on their part.
Besides, that would be an idiotic move by the skins. If we are considering drafting an OT in the first round (if there are no viable QBs), why would we give up our best one (and a young one at that)??? Say what you want about TW, but we need him badly. We need OL badly. If we made that trade, we would just be repeating the cycle of not focusing on our OL. Even with TW, we still need 3 additional OL. If we traded TW, we would need 4. That would just be plain stupid.

This is true but somehow we managed without him and got the same results. I don't want to give up TW either.

Call me nuts, but I'd love to see Russell Wilson given a shot by the skins. He may be short, but he's a fabulous talent-- as talented as Luck. Second round, maybe, if we miss on QB we want. .

Williams is a borderline bust, is lazy, apparently a complete idiot, and one failed drug test away from sitting out an entire season. ey is racking up injuries and is past his prime. The Rams can probably get 3 first rounders for their pick no way they take a garbage deal like that from the Skins.
