Man Landrys workout is tough. Now he is running up mountains in the Snow! No wonder he is so ripped up.

Upon further review, it kinda looks like the two guys next to him are hanging their heads in shame, since they can't "stack" up to Landry's new-found size. Am I the only one who sees this?

You have anything to illustrate your claim or are you just another ... emotional 'fan'?

I guess that means that you also think that any coach that would help or try and get the most out of Landry is 'probably' in the same category?
why are we wasting time with "one of the dumbest players in the NFL"?
I guess this also means that anyone that would keep a player that is 'probably' as bad as you think, should also lose their job?

I'm wondering, did you think Roy Williams was a good safety for the Cowboys?

Well, right now I think you should try and make an argument without using "that" four times in a sentence. It makes it hard to read.
And to answer your second question, I really have no idea why we are wasting our time with LaRon Landry if we don't want to give games away.
And finally, yes I do think that anyone who would stick with such a player would lose their job. For an example, I'll use Jim Zorn.
I don't know if you watched the Saints game last year, but I remember a lot of blame was put on the kicker (and rightfully so), and Zorn pulled the trigger and benched him. But I also remember a certain safety who was completely out of position, twice, to give up the game tying, and consequently the game winning touchdowns. However, Zorn felt it was in the best interest not bench Landry and therefore, yes, he lost his job.
Now I can't wait for everyone to label me a "fan" and call me a hater, and that's cool. go for it. But I really am psyched for this upcoming season and think the Skins finally have some positive guys to make a winning team. But I honestly believe as long as LaRon Landry and DeAngelo Hall are responsible for half of the secondary, they are a very gullible and risky defense.

OK - I'll dumb it down a little
it's been reported that Hazlett is very excited about the prospect of having Landry and using him differently than last season. Are you saying he does not know what he's doing in thinking Landry might be a better player given better coaching and being used in a way to suit his skill sets better? YES or NO will do
And to answer your second question, I really have no idea why we are wasting our time with LaRon Landry if we don't want to give games away.
so you don't think Hazlett and Shanahan know as much
if not more about Landry's capabilities than you do? again a YES or NO will suffice
And finally, yes I do think that anyone who would stick with such a player would lose their job.
So you think Shanahan and Hazlett might not be here for much longer - Mike decided he would keep Landry and now Hazlett is looking for good things from a player you think is "one of the dumbest players in the NFL" - this also just needs a simple YES or NO
are you implying these 2 guys cannot see we have "the dumbest player in the NFL" as one of our defensive backfield stars - feel free to wax eloquently here about what we should be doing differently
I tried to eliminate the word "that" for you to make it easier to read and hopefully easier to understand

What does a former Cowpuke have to do with Landry? If you're somehow insinuating that Landry's as bad as Roy "horsecollar" Williams, then I'm thinking you've fallen and can't get up. Please, elaborate OBJECTIVELY on how this is a valid comparison.
This should be good...

Is it just me, or whenever I see you write Hazlett, SkinsJock, I have to read it in the Spurrier "HAYZ-LETT" voice.
It's spelled Haslett.

thanks - very effective! hated that nasally voice too
I understand that many are disapointed in how Landry has played here but I think Haslett is looking forward to working with him and that Landry will show how badly he's been used and coached
I just react to comments like he's "probably one of the dumbest players in the NFL" because that is just BS and, while everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I would be interested to see where there is any support for that statement from anyone that knows even a little about players in the NFL

I've seen you, in multiple posts, say that Landry was used "badly." Yet, not once have you actually provided an example of that. Landry commits stupid penalties, struggles in coverage, takes poor angles, and misses tackles. Explain to me how any of that is a result of him being "badly" used. The bottom line is that Landry doesn't make big plays (3 ints in 3 seasons is a joke) and has been a major bust so far.

Obviously, Landry would have been a lot better player if he'd gone to a different school because despite being asked to play a position that is not his best he would have been better off being influenced by ... never mind

It might help if he lined up in the same area code as everyone else.

please make a point that helps Air Hog's assertion that Landry is "one of the dumbest players in the NFL"
IMO and I think others as well, Landry is better suited playing closer to the LOS = do you think he's better player and more effective at FS than at SS? just a yes or no will do

by CanesSkins26
I don't think that he is effective at either FS or SS right now. He can't friggin' tackle properly (anyone remember the tackle attempt Michael Turner??) so playing him closer to the line of scrimmage isn't going to do any good. Besides, Haslett has already said that he doesn't distinguish between FS and SS, but instead each safety has to essentially do both.

IMO Landry is better suited playing closer to the LOS than at FS
unlike others here I agree with Jim Haslett's opinion that Landry will be a much better player and will help the rest of the defense if he's used in a defensive scheme that suits his (IMO) considerable talent
Landry has disapointed some but I still think he will be one of our better defensive players and, right now, IMO he's one of the top 10 safeties in the NFL despite all the so called "evidence" and haters
just my opinion of Laron Landry, of course

Nobody is disputing that. I just dont understand how him playing at FS is responsible for dumb penalties, taking poor angles to the ball, and missing tackles, both inside and outside the box. If he simply struggled with coverage and was solid everywhere else, I would your argument. However, Landry struggled in all phases last season so I have a hard time seeing how all of his struggles can be written off simply bc he played FS.

and I think you'll see him be more effective with these coaches because the defensive game plan will IMO be better suited to utilizing the players' talents and skills than trying to make the players execute a game plan that did not
we shall see better play from Landry and others defensively but also we should see a more effective defense overall - IMO the defense last year was not bad but I think I was disapointed because I was expecting it to be better or possibly even dominant and it was not

I remember Landry his first year when he played on the LOS as our strong safety and did very well. In fact, everyone talked about how good of a tackler he was. No one remembers that though!
The differences between strong and free safeties are many...
A strong safety plays closer to the LOS and has blockers on them immediately. Many of their tackles are made after shedding a block. You aren't running full speed up to the play, to make a tackle. A SS can apply pressure on the QB and disrupt pass plays and even running plays. Free safeties are normally in coverage down field, normally running full speed to make a play or tackle on a wr.
Landry is fast enough to play either, however, he's not a good FS, that's clear. From the day Sean died and they moved him to FS I was complaining that we took a great SS and made him an avg FS (okay, at times he's looked lousy).
Too many people, Vinnie was one -- believe positions and players are interchangeable...Jason Taylor for example. Great weakside End, not even average at strong side end. Landry is not a FS.
Does anyone believe Dawkins would have been a good free safety? Of course, some can play both, like Sean Taylor, but there aren't many of them.
Play Landry on the LOS and I'll bet he makes a lot of plays...roughs people up, rushes the qb, etc...
Landry Haters will disappear after a few games!
