True, but sometimes you have to. FrankCal was making the point in another thread that Collins was only rushed by three defenders. I think that's because opponents respect his ability to get the ball out quickly. With JC there is no such respect, so teams routinely overload the blitz.

Yeah, that's the players' fault.

While it is partially the players fault, I believe the coaching staff is also a part of the team.

See ya when the Skins are good again I guess...I undersatnd the frustrations and talking about them but to abandon your team...For me your either all in or not...

Who died and made you the judge? FWIW, even though you may think you are, you're not a better or more devoted fan just because you blindly support the team even when they don't deserve fan support.

I am a fan of the Redskins, but THIS team not the Redskins. They're a bunch of football player wanna-be posers dressing up like the Redskins. When this team can't even put forth a reasonable effort to be competitive, they don't deserve support from any of the fans. THIS team is a disgrace to the proud heritage of the Redskins franchise, the NFL, and football in general.

Calm down everybody. We knew this season would be the horrible culmination of over a decade-long era of mismanagement, ignorance and sheer stupidity.

I understand the frustration because I share it. There was a moment, when Jason got the easy interception run for a TD, that I actually laughed in anger. Interesting feeling, I must say.

One part of me got to the point that I wanted to have the humipliation be BIGGER. I wanted a +50 score v. NOTHING.

IIt got to the point that I wanted this game to be a testament of the actions by the owner and his useful idiot and partner in crime.

I am angry. I could havve picked up a fight on Monday, or Tuesday ...

I probably typed and said things I would not say in my five senses. That does not make any of us less fans.

Grampi is still a fan. He always will be. I know that. But he hates like all of us to have been HUMILIATED the way we have and not only in one game but longer.

Let's get along and move on people.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

It's easy for Collins to come in fresh and not shell shocked to throw that pass. He paid for it, too. I wish we could put Collins in for about a month and see what kinda toughness he has; if he can hang in there like JC does. JC's probably the toughest guy on our team with the way he's been hit this year. He could have taken the easy road the 2nd 1/2, but he didn't. He went back in there for 30 more minutes of pummelling.

I like how you frame that as being "fresh" and easy rather than cold off the bench in a hostile environment that just sent the starter hobbling to the sideline, LOL. In any event, as best I can remember, Collins did play a month in 2007 and we won the 4 regular season games he played in by two scores each game, including our very last win against NYG, in NY. (How soon they forget) That that turn of events didn't cause the organization to rethink this automatic anointing of Campbell as the 2008 undisputed starter (as if the position was reserved for bloodline royalty) shows the cluelessness of the FO and Coaching staff they hired, as well as many fans of Jason who continue recycling the same worn out excuses.

Live in the now. 2007 is over and gone. I'm talking about the line THIS year and the pummelling JC's taken THIS year. I think that JC doesn't doesn't get enough credit for his toughness, especially this year, behind this line.

And you should stick to the subject, as opposed to going off on your anto-Campbell tangent like you always do. I wasn't arguing either way in my post to keep or can JC, but saying there are few QBs out there with the toughness to h andle what JC's been thru. And I don't think a 38 yo Collins could handle it.

I responded directly to the portion of the post YOU addressed specifically to ME, and specifically to the topic you presented. And my entire point that you either miss or disagree with is that a large portion of what Jason Campbell has had to "deal" with is a result of his inability to deal with it, which only guarantees more of the same. I'd agree that Campbell is physically tough ... don't think anyone could argue that. Mentally however, he is way less than tough, as was plainly stated by the only college offensive coordinator that had good success with Campbell. He stated that most of his issues are from the neck up, and not from the shoulders down.

And it's no coincidence ... whether you look at 2007 or 2009, that Collins has come in cold off the bench and immediately moved the team ... two long gainers right out of the blocks twice THIS YEAR, both to Moss, deep downfield. Apparently, the noodle arm backup can throw deep.

If there can be good doctors and bad doctors, good football players and bad football players, good cooks and bad cooks, good accountants and bad accountants, etc., then there sure as hell can be good fans and bad fans.

To hell with the idea that nobody can know what makes a good fan. What an arrogant load of bull crap people are hiding behind when they say that. If you abandon the team and decide that you aren't a fan of them anymore, then you simply aren't a good fan. Period. Sorry if anyone's feelings are hurt by that.

To pretend that supporting the team doesn't make anyone a better fan, that it's OK to like the team when they do well but not stick by them through the hard times . . . there's a word for this philosophy, and it rhymes with "air leather." ;)

Like DEHog, I respect anyone's decision not to be a fan anymore, or not to be a good one. Don't let the door hit you on your way out. We'll be here if you ever want to come back.

For the predictable reply that I'm being judgmental: Yes, I'm being judgmental when I say that. So what? There seems to be no shortage of people who are judging the Redskins right now based on their play (but I guess that's not being judgmental? hmmmmm).

Why can't I make some OBVIOUS inferences about some fans based on their behavior?

So the Redskins are just supposed to be a team, and it doesn't matter if they win or lose, and we're just supposed to be devoted fans and support them no matter how disgusting of an embarrassment they are? Sorry, I guess I just can't be as much of a passive kool-aid drinker as you.

You on the other hand said you're done...OK we get it as IB said there's a name for people (sorry can't can you a fan) like you.

OK, perspective.

I have seen worse Redskin games and far worse Redskin teams. As Casey S. would say, you can look it up: see the record in1959, 1960, 1961.

In one of those years, Street&Smith's Pro Football titled their Redskin section "They Play, and Pray, For an Upset". One of the highlight photos was a Redskin / Senators touch football game at Griffith Stadium.

The next two games might be awful, but maybe the re-building has begun.

Maybe, just maybe, Snyder has suffered such an "ego injury" that he will let Allen and a new coach work up a real NFL team.

Here's hoping...

It's a bad thing to support THIS team. THIS team doesn't care if it wins or loses. All they care about is picking up their paychecks. Why support a team that couldn't give a rat's a$$ about its fans?

How long have you been a Redskin fan? Because it can't be for very long.

I've seen far worse teams than this. Teams that absolutely quit and were dogs effort-wise. Until that Monday night game, we had been in every game in Zorn's brief career; we'd avoided the blowouts. This team had played hard, but simply just wasn't talented enough.

Contrast that to, say, the Spurrier years or some of the Turner years, when we weren't even competitive. Because in many of those years, our teams just rolled over.

Dunno why you'd pick this year and this team as your own "NO MAS" line in the sand, grampi.

I wonder whether you'd be willing to say that to London Fletcher, Phillip Daniels, Fred Davis, Devin Thomas, Rocky McIntosh, Andre Carter, Jason Campbell, and Rock Cartwright's faces, in a locked room with no one watching and no rules.

That's alright, they'd probably leave you alone anyway. Or at least, I know Andre Carter and Phillip Daniels would — they are too busy working hard to prepare for Sunday and donating what little free time they have to connecting with fans, for example by taking a couple of hours each week to write a blog for THN. (The staff at THN have had some very positive connections with other players, too, by the way. It may not always end up in a radio show or regular blog, but believe me when I say that many do care about the fans.)

Now, London Fletcher, on the other hand . . . I wouldn't take my chances with him, if I were you. Dude seems pretty intense. ;)

Anyway, the point is that not everyone has mailed it in, not by a long shot. Certain "fans," on the other hand, haven't given the players any reason to try. I'm glad the team is still in touch with some of the faithful. The situation could be worse than it is.

Grampi…I don’t really want to pile on you today with it being Christmas Eve…I just really feel the need to tell you that your are flat out off base on this one…There are many on this team that care about the fans and since IB mention of Phillip Daniels I will use him as a example. First did you read ANY of his blogs?? He is a man of great faith and he understands what going on and has his priorities in the right place. (I know Jake has had some intereaction with him and would back me up here)…did you catch his comments after the Falcons game? As luck would have it I was at an event where he and his wife showed up. I had a nice conversation with him….of the time we talked I think 10% was about football…We talk about his blogs and I thanked him and said It was easy to see that he put time into them…you see these players do have lives other than football.
As for the football part of the conversation he acknowledged the team poor performance on the field and was apologetic for it…and get ready for this…He felt bad for the FANS!!!! He even thanks me for sticking with the team. Now I ask you does that sound like somebody
that couldn't give a rat's a$$ about its fans?
You have a great Christmas enjoy some time with your family and will see you in the New Year!!

Yes. It's called being a fan.

LOL

"Kool-aid drinker," he says, like it's a bad thing to support the team.

"You mean you're going to hope that this one team wins every Sunday, no matter what? Sorry, I can't have that much blind commitment. I need to be realistic and hope sometimes that Dallas wins. In a way, that makes me a more down-to-earth Redskins fan, and makes you look like the crazy one!"

ROTFALMAO

Maybe yet another embarrassing loss (how many in a row is that now) to the Midgets was just the straw that broke my camel's back. Maybe it's an accumulation of the suckiness this team has doled out since 1992. Maybe it's because this team lays down EVERY time they play the Midgets. Maybe it's because of this team's abysmal divisional record over the last 15 or so years. Maybe it's the way this team chokes away games when they are playing competitively. It's hard to put my finger on exactly what it is. What I do know is I've found myself watching other NFL games this season instead of watching the Skins. Maybe it's because I'm sick of watching them lose, or maybe knowing they're going to lose renders watching the game pointless. I don't know exactly what it is, all I can say is this year, I've become more of an NFL fan in general than a Skins fan. I'm sure that'll change if the Skins improve, but for now I watch whatever game seems most interesting.

Well, like DEHog and I said earlier, grampi, I respect your decision to turn in your Washington Redskins fan card. All the best to you this Christmas and New Year. Maybe we'll see you around one day . . . the door to the bandwagon is always open and we're keeping the seats warm in the meantime. Fairweather fans aren't my favorite, but the more voices cheering a winning team the more fun it is for us fans who stick through the hard times. (Lord knows it isn't easy being a Redskins fan.)

However, I know that good days are coming again. It wasn't this year, and it probably won't be next year, but maybe someday.

God bless.

I can hardly be called a bandwagoner, or I'd be jumping on the Colts or Saints bandwagon.
