As we have discussed, this past week:

Great trade for the Bears - but they need to get him some help.

Great trade for the Broncos - and the trade becomes even better if Orton works out and they make the right choices with the draft picks.

Great "non trade" for the Redskins in not giving up 2 #1 picks - we would be better off with Cutler but we will really be an even better team in the long term with the picks AND a future great QB - We need to make the right choices in who we add to the mix here in the next 2 years and we might start to see the true result of this "non trade" in 3 years.

The fact remains that we have to make sure that who we bring in here not only is a future great player but they also make the team great in the future as well.

However, that being said, he's certainly a major talent upgrade over Captain Neckbeard.

In my opinion, I think that if Snyder had managed to bring in Cutler for only 2 #1 picks I would not have minded too much - but then it get's complicated because the offensive 'supporting cast' needs some help and we just do not have the draft picks to get there.

I also agree that finding a QB that has the talent and upside of a Cutler is going to be the hardest thing to get done and it will need to be done either this year or next - By the time he's ready for the NFL we should have the offensive group around him in place.

Im not blaming Cutler for the reason they were 17-20 under him. Im just saying he didnt win in Denver so how can you give up 4 players and say the guy is a franchise QB when he hasnt won anything?

The Broncos even with that many players on IR had a 4.8 ypc avg and were 2nd in the league running the ball. I do agree the defense was a huge problem. At the sametime ive seen alot of Cutler games where he made some really ignorant throws.

Im not slamming Cutler because he could be a top QB for years I just wouldnt give up 4 players for somebody who isnt a 100% sure thing.

It's pretty hard to win in Denver if you are giving up 28 points a game no matter who your QB is

Cutler has all the tools to become a great player. Still has some room for growth. He has the right mentality though. He has a supreme confidence in his abilities that is something you just do not get everyday. Like I said before Cutler is like a young Brett Farve.

You're correct, the game is played on the field; that's only 60 minutes though. There's preparation, conditioning, and something that may not be important to many but is important to me, attitude and the ability to behave like an adult. Off the field issues shouldn't be in the NFL's vocabulary, but it is; these guys have the world handed to them, and a lot of them find a way to screw it up. I know all players aren't leaders, but many of them aren't followers either...that only leaves one more option, get the hell out of the way. I guess my point is that I don't just care about the 60 minutes on Sunday's (or Thursdays nights and Saturday), but about the individual who can play ball at a high level and be a good person.

bravo - but I'm afraid that is just not realistic with what is happening in the sports world that we live in.

I understand and agree with what you are saying but I also have learned to try and just look at the games as just that - games.

For the most part we have a lot of very well paid athletes that will find ways to not live up to our expectations - that is the reality of today's sports.

I try and enjoy the sports action for what it is - but I will add that I also enjoy the 'action' of the ramifications of what happens to one of our sports 'heroes' when the system 'rewards' him for his actions on or off the field when he abuses the privilege of being a part of the game of life.

I happen to think that Cutler will become both an even better QB on the field and a better person off it - but I normally like to look at the positives
