The problem isn't our record. I'm completely satisfied with our record for a 1st year coach if you take all context out of it. But you start off the way we did for the 1st 1/2 of the year, and then come to the 2nd 1/2, it's reverse!!! It's regressed. It's backwards. That's the problem. That's the problem almost EVERYONE has.

Exactly. This team has gotten worse as the season has progressed. In addition to that the team doesn't seem to be responding to Zorn and they simply didn't look ready to play today. Over the past six games we have looked like one of the worst teams in the NFL. Not only have we lost to the Bengals, who were 1-11, but we have also lost to the 2-11 Rams. There were obviously going to be some growing pains but Zorn did inherit a playoff team. Right now it looks like Zorn is in over his head and he seems overmatched. Lets not forget that Zorn had never even been an offensive coordinator in the NFL, let alone a head coach. Now he is trying to be a qb coach, offensive coordinator, and head coach all in one, and he is failing in all of those areas. JC hasn't progressed at all as the season has gone on, the play calling is terrible (not going to CP at least once inside the 5 yard line is inexcusable), and Zorn's habit of calling players out in the media is making it look like he is trying to deflect criticism from himself by throwing his players under the bus.

If you want to win games, you give your best players the ball. Regardless of who offended who. what are we, the Dallas Cowboys???
Portis has been shafted twice in a row. the guy is our best player, yet Zorn wants to give the ball to a blocking HB. not once, but TWICE!!
You put the ball in the hands of the best players. period.
Stop making excuses, everyone. The talent on this team didn't see the ball enough.
Aside from pitiful offensive line play, this is why we lose games.

The offense suxed, there was always player issues (Ramsey, Pierce, Brunell, Clark, Arrington, Archuleta, Lloyd, etc.), there was infighting amongst the coaches, the offense suxed as bad as this one does. Gibbs let good players go, made trades giving up draft picks and brought in bad replacements. Don't make Gibbs 2nd tenure out to be someyhing it wasn't. I don't wish for Gibbs back. We would just have a continuation of bad coaching.
Having said that, he's the only HC to get us to the playoffs under Dannyboy.
That is true, I will concede that. He would not have lasted as long as he did if not for his past resume. His teams lost more game that it won. I still do not want Gibbs back.
No coach hired by the current administration is over .500
Schottenheimer 8-8
Spurrier 12-20
Gibbs 31-34
Zorn ??? has a shot at .500
I could play nose tackle but I cause to much trouble,
never the less i could always wish for the head coach to coach qbs only I don't have the owners number and vinny is busy looking for work.
I think zorn may be able to meet expectations and honest think that he has a good foundation to be here next year. This if he is sticking around could be a very optamistic offseason. The years with spurrier remained okay because those loses were mostly within 3-6 points, and with a pretty tricky offense but zorn has these guys running the crash and burn offense. good from afar but far from good......

The "blocking" HB you are talking about is around 280 pounds and convential wisdom would say with a little push he would get a touchdown. What would have Portis done differently than Sellers? I'll admit Sellers made a stupid move trying to reach the ball out like that but I dont see Portis faring much better than he did.

He canceled his appearance tomorrow. He also canceled last Monday after the Ravens loss. The fans that called in after the Giants loss really hammered him so he is probably scared to go on the air tomorrow.

How many goal line TDs does sellers have this season?
zero.
It's a bad play call, despite what you think "conventional wisdom" says about it.
and if you noticed, the first time they should have faked to sellers and given the ball to CP, who would have busted around the left free and clear.

i agree with you jdbuya,,,,what I wanted to see was letting your 280 full back create a hole for Portis to run behind. That's what Sellers is in for, to block and open a lane. That's what would've been different.

exactly. I want him opening lanes, not trying to score through them.
that has never been his purpose in any skins offense.

How many times have they given the ball to Sellers on the goal line? There was no push from the line. And how does anyone know if they faked to Sellers if they would have bitten on that play? It's a coulda shoulda woulda thing. I dont think it was a horrible play call but if a RB gets no hole or no push he isnt going to score.

It's not a bad play call ONCE, but twice in a row. Our best offensive player is on the field watching, it's bad play calling doing that consecutive plays. Our run game is built for Portis and I want him running behind Sellers from the 1 yard line.

Sellers has 3 rushing td's during his career. CP has 70. It was idiotic to hand the ball to Sellers twice in three plays. Zorn was probably trying to make a point by not giving the ball to CP in that situation and it backfired on him. That goal line series lost us that game.

The only thing I am saying is that with no push from the line I dont see Portis getting in on that play. Maybe it was a dumb call to do it twice in a row

I agree, that was an absolutely indefensible series of calls on 1st and goal from the 1. A pass on 1st down??? Against the Bungles? Frankly, if I owned the team, Zorn would be fired after this pitiful display of ineptitude.
There is a major lack of leadership on offense, and that falls squarely on Zorn and Campbell, both of which I consider 1st rate buffoons.
It started right away with Campbell. A pass out in the flat (I was listening to Sonny on the Radio saying that was just the easiest pass you could throw, and Campbell missed it). He also said that ARE was wide open down the sideline as Campbell threw into tripple coverage to Moss. Later, the pass to CC at the 5 yard line was way low (Sonny said if Campbell had hit him in the chest, it would have been a TD). This is the continuing saga of Jason Campbell's "what not to do as an NFL QB". The first 5 possessions were 3 and outs (only one was caused by CC's fumble).
This entire team is in disarray (aside from the defense). Special teams is a joke except for Rock, and the offense is a laughing stock as is Jim Zorn, the "genius".
This constant lack of production....along with Zorn's benching of Portis and his inexplicable play calling has lost this team. And though the defense was flat in the 1st Q,(maybe because they spent 12 of the first 15 minutes on the field due to 4 consectutive 3 and outs) they played well for the majority of the game, and in the end, were tired, and probably saw their efforts as yet another futile effort.
Jason Campbell should never start another game as a Washington Redskin, and Jim Zorn should never call another play. Until that lousy fact sinks in, it will not be possible to correct the very few other problems on offense.
This has got to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest collapses of an NFL Team.
And I'm almost as sick and tired of watching this as I am hearing how Jason-No TD-Campbell is "improving".
This offense under Campbell, with Zorn calling plays is WORSE than the 2004 Redskin offense.....a feat that I thought was totally impossible.

Except that this year's offense is ranked 17th overall while the 2004 offense was ranked 30th ... but don't let facts get in the way. Oh and the '04 offense was 29th in passing with a QB rating of 70 while this version is 19th with a rating of 86.6. But, again, why bother with facts?

I was referring to scoring points......not yards. And the fact is that over the past 6 games now (and I call that an extended trend) they are averaging 11 points a game. The pitiful (and it was pitiful) 2004 offense averaged 15 points.
Now, just as soon as the NFL changes the rules, and wins are awarded to the team who gains the most yards per game, you MIGHT have a point. But don't let that get in the way.
