I dont mean to bring up the past but it could be like when Earnest Byner came to the Skins. LOL
Maybe , maybe not but I dont see any reason why he cant be productive here. Also Ive always wanted to trade Betts.
Betts just seems to never make the first down when we need it. Hand it to Betts on third and short and we are punting. Remeber the Cowboys game? If not for the penalty we would have been punting and the Cowboys would have gotten the ball back with plenty of time. There are plenty of times I can recall when Betts does not convert.
CP and Betts are close to the same age, closer than CP and Alexander. If we were to get rid of Betts, we'd be looking for a #2 a lot sooner than if we held on to Betts, and I think that Betts is a serviceable #2. I guess MY deciding factor is how well Alexande does in his chance these next couple of weeks.
...any given Sunday....
RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!

The National Anthem sucks.
What a useless piece of propagandist rhetoric that is.
Betts still worries me in regards to injuries. He gets injured often, especially for someone not carrying the rock. That's not saying I want him gone or that he should be replaced. It's just something about him that sticks out to me.

I may be wrong but during the pre-season I think that this position was considered one of our strengths - I am sure that there must have been something about Mason that must have concerned our staff - he looked like he would make the roster in September and then in October, even though we needed someone and he was on the PS with the ravens they still brought in Shaun.
Yeah, I was slightly puzzled at this in September. But the fact that we didn't sign him from the Ravens doesn't surprise me: we need someone who can come in and make an impact immediately. Whatever his upside, I doubt Mason could be a true replacement for Betts this Sunday.
(This whole situation just reinforces in my mind how much the coaches like Rock in KRs.)
Depth is so important and players in the NFL can only help themselves by being able to play well at different positions or with different parts of the team.
Exactly. This is, of course, how Rock is still on an NFL roster at all.

it looked to me like a hyper extended knee on the replay. But I agree, it's a bit weird how you can get injured easily when your not carrying as much load as CP. Maybe his body is not used to getting hit that much coz he' usually at the sidelines. IMO he has the greatest job on the squad. Spelling a premier back and not getting hit as much. I just wish he cold pass protect like CP.

The only way this makes since to me is if the team realizes that Betts may be a lot more injured than initially believed. Although I like Rock, I understand why he's not getting promoted. He is just too good a returner to elevate to 8 carries/game in addition to kick return duties.
If Betts is severely injured, I get it. If not, I hope the evidence on the field makes this make since.
Hopefully this is just insurance for Portis and Rock. I hope Alexander is the third RB and when Portis gets winded Rock gives him a break and not Alexander.
Shaun is a very faint shadow of his former self, that Sellers could out rush.
I don't want to hear any of that non-sense that Rock couldn't handle both KR and backup RB. Heck B Mitch was the starting RB, PR and KR for a year and for many years he was a third down back, PR and KR. It is foolish to think Rock can't handle KR and backup RB/ third down RB duties.
Now I wouldn't want him to be the #1 RB and KR, but I in no way want Alexander to take carries away from Rock.
Since Doughty is on the IR, does that mean SA can wear his #37?
Its not that he can't "handle" it. But if he gets hurt, we lose a RB and our Kick returner.
Betts performed admirably when Portis got injured in 2005.
He gets hurt, but when he gets in rhythm he's one of the best replacements in the game.
Shaun is a completely different beast. He's more of a "Ricky Watters-type" back. Obviously Zorn has a lot of confidence in him, as well as does Stump Mitchell. Could Betts be out by next year if Alexander performs well during these games?
I'm shocked that nobody has commented with their impressions of Shaun.
I was pleased with his initial run. He came out of there like he was shot out of a cannon. He had good burst and got us 8 yards. Stump Mitchell commented that he missed a few reads on his later runs but that's to be expected.
Shaun apparently is a better athlete than Betts and I noticed that on his first run. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Betts is healed up, especially if Shaun is going bonkers in the backfield.
Shaun is auditioning to be a starter for another team. His work ethic is going to benefit us for this short term so don't worry about him taking Betts job.
I agree with Zorn, I want to see more violence from him, he's bigger than I realized, he looks huge in a Redskins uniform. Not bad for his first go on Sunday.

Rock should have looked better, he's been in this running system for about 20 years now.
However, Shaun showed on his 1st run that he's head and shoulders above Rock in regards to atheliticism. That's moreso what I'm curious to know about. I also didn't realize he was that big, he has no business being soft. LOL

20 years
Alexander was a good signing, he's wanting to prove that he is not washed up yet. So why not be a back up for the best rusher in the league and just get the rock a few times here and there. Keep your legs fresh and be a change of pace back. I like it. He's not known to be a CP-like power rusher, he's more an "elusive" runner, this is a great change of pace from CP.
