I think having Gregg as HC, Blanche as DC and Al is OC will be swell.

There are other far more inspirational things to do. I am only speaking of a very personal choice. Joe Gibbs kept the light of hope on when he was here. I will wait and see whether I can BELIEVE with my heart and mind in the new crowd.

We know it is "said" and it is "quoted" But that is nothing in writing.
If they don't have anything in writing, it don't really mean nothing.
It all depends on who the HC will be. You think if it is Cowher for example. All it will take is one decision to be made, and the two butt heads about it. Danny will side with the guy he's paying millions to.

Gibbs stepping down isn't the end of the Redskins, he can't coach forever! Gosh! Life will go on.

I realy don't feel like picking the bones apart right now. Whoever gets the job will have a hard job following a man with such class, wisdom and sheer integrity. Good luck Joe you brought me to the Redskins and welded me to them. Good luck to you and health and happiness to your family.

What worries me is that nobody aside from Gibbs has the ability to tell Danny to shutup and leave.
The fans have that ability. I think DS understands that if he fields a mediocre, underachieving team long enough, the fans are going to think twice about paying those prices for parking, tickets, beer, jerseys, etc. Tickets were a lot easier to get during losing seasons than winning ones.

It wasn't hard to figure out that it would be a PR debocle to bring in the most iconic figure this franchise has seen and NOT hand him the keys and back away.
But if he sees Gibbs' retirement as the equivalent of the locks being taken off the gates to the playground ..... oh help us.

Remember guys, I wrote once that Joe would step down from BOTH positions. He would not step from one and not the other. REMEMBER.
So, all of those who wanted Joe out of the HC position got their wish. I hope you guys are right. I, on the other hand, will seriously look at the choices to be made within the next few weeks before I decide that I have any interest in the NFL, let alone the Washington Redskins and even my participation this board. I am serious.
Dang, there goes my sleep for the next 3 months.
Seriously, who cares?! Obviously it sucks that he is gone, but you nor I have any idea if a new coach will be sucessfull or not. Look at sean payton w/the saints last year. Wade Phillips and Mike Tomlin this year. There is a plethora of examples of coaches that have stepped in and done a great job. That MAY or may NOT happen to us, but to just Pronouce your abandonment of football and specifically the skins is laughable.

Remember that the MAIN audience in the DS era are CORPORATE seats. There have been enough of us suckers who purchase tickets no matter what even before Joe came back.
Let's see who is next. A LOT is riding on it. Some people may not say so in public yet. But many people will vote with their feet on Danny Snyder if he screws up this time. People are not patient with him anymore.
Will the Washington Post take me as a Danny Snyder basher??? I -might- apply for a job there.

Talk about an overreaction.
Just about all of us are shocked at the latest development.
Gibbs decides to retire and all of a sudden it's Snyder's fault? Whatever. It's been reported that Gibbs will be a "special adviser" for Snyder. I don't know how you interpret that, but that tells me Snyder respects Gibbs and will most likely follow the guidance Gibbs will offer on numerous issues.

Gibbs' biggest mistake was Mark Brunell, that was a hit or miss and he missed on that one, and that's a big one. I honestly believe we could've won it all with Gibbs and a good QB.

Do not quote me, but my gutfeeling is YES. He has had a few difficulties and serious health issues this past year. He ONLY came back because of Joe.
They are a package. Geez, am I ever sad to see both of them go! The end of an era.

I would think Bugel and Breaux are going to be gone. They're part of the Gibbs posse and were here only because Gibbs was.

Which is why I asked the question, I hope they stick it out at least one more year, for continuity's sake, to help with the transition.

The main person who cannot leave is Al Saunders. Im sure he has some folk he could bring in from his reign in Kansas City. I'm not all that worried about Joe leaving, cus its already done.
We gotta keep what is left together.
