The Ravens say it IS possible to have an incredible Defense and average Offense... even though it's less likely.

The offense didn't help the D by not moving the ball but the D was pretty terrible on its own in the second half. The Giants came out on their first series in the second half and dominated our D and drove down the field for a td. Both sides of the ball played terribly in the second half.

I just don't agree. This defense WILL NOT shut any team out. But what they will do is keep is in the game. This IMO has been a chronic issue for this team. This offense puts up 2 points in a game and everyone expects the defense to hold the opposing team to 1 point.

Let's put the onus on the offense and ask them to score a respectable number of points. When the defense gives you 3 turnovers thats 21 points, thats in ADDITION to your regular possessions.

How many points did we have? How many points did the offense score off of defensive turnovers and how many off of their own accord?

The offense is the problem.

I agree. If you look back at the SB winning Skins, they rarely scored less than 30 points per game. If we had that offense with this defense, we'd still be winning SB's.

Exactly, people can't seem to get it in their heads that this defense won't shut anyone out. They will hold most teams to under 21 points.

Any game where we're not putting up 21 points and we lose, the problem is with the defense.

The ENTIRE D did great...Except for a few plays in the 2nd half...

THIS loss is on the offense!

He wasn't even blocked on the sack. Other than the one sack he wasn't anywhere near Eli the rest of the game. And he can't do anything against the run. His signing is a huge waste of money. The 49ers had the right idea by trading us Lloyd and not resigning Carter.

How long is it going to take for The Dan to buy the NFC East and let Sean Taylor shoulder everyone on the eagles, cowboys and giants to death?

What do the Ravens have that we don't.....

OH!!1 A pass rush! And they're only missing 1 offensive linemen from last year instead of 3 like us.

Al's offense works in 2007, Gibbs doesn't. Sorry. The mix that they had works when a healthy oline is out there but it's not. We need to get the ball in the air.

In three plus seasons they haven't figured it out. I highly doubt that one loss to the Giants is going to knock any sense into them. Although if more players speak up like ARE maybe that will have an effect.

I was just pointing out that it IS possible for a defense oriented team to excel, which seems to be our strong point (until the 2nd 1/2 of the latest game).

Basically wee squandered excellent field position at least 3X. Had like 4 3 & outs plus a fumble in the 2nd half.

Wasted opportunies all through the 2nd half.

Where does the fault for not capitalizing on those opportunities fall?

Who called the end around to start one of those drives? Gibbs? Saunders?

Who was managing the game at the end of the game? Gibbs? Saunders?

Maybe someday soon they will let JC manage the game there.

I'm still bummed. We should have not lost this game.

I just learned the result. I am broken hearted and actually quite angry. The team had a chance to move on or return to its 2006 play. Not good at all and quite ominous for the rest of the season if you ask me.

This is why I predicted a 9 - 7 score for the season on an earlier thread. I am furious and disappointed.

No...may be we loose but more than anything we should have taken it into overtime. It just doesn't make sense that a team kicks a teams butt in the first half and then gets the crap kicked out of them in the 2nd half.

This team has gone right back to being the '06 team. Don't believe it?

D can't make a stop on 3rd down, same as last year.

D line can't put any pressure on QB, same as last year.

Rogers still gets burned for big plays, same as last year.

O line still can't protect the QB, same as last year.

O line still can't run block, same as last year.

O can't score more than 17 points a game, same as last year.

Coaches/team still can't manage the clock, same as last year.

Predicted record, 5-11, same as last year.

I love you Joe Gibbs and always will, but the game has passed you by and it's time for you to go.

Anyone who thinks the defense played poorly doesn't know a thing about football...period.

In the second half we had how many 3 and outs? 5? 6? and a turnover?

14 of the 24 points were from the defense being worn out.

Our offense was given great field position several times and they BACKED UP and punted.

The worst offensive performance I have ever witnessed. They made the Gnats look like the 85 Bears.

And it is POOR PLAY CALLING. At the end of the 1st half we get the ball on a TO and what do we do? Run 3 times, loose yardage and kick a long field goal.

1st and goal at the 1 with the game on the line and Portis is on the bench??? That right there should be cause for heads to roll at Redskin Park. How do you let your best offensive weapon (and best blocker without the ball) sit with the game on the line??

ONLY THE REDSKINS.

The team run blocked and protected the qb way above average last year. Its the refusal of the coaches to get into a shootout that is causing problems. The defense has improved but the playcalling incompetence remains the same. I had a BAD feeling about this game because I knew the Giants would score over 20 and i knew the redskins won't try to score over 20.

play calling play calling playcalling....Enough already with that...THEY NEED TO EXECUTE WITH MORE CONSISTENCY!!!!!....3 straight 3 and outs is unacceptable....portis drops a huge 3rd down play takes his team off thefield then he fumbles away the ball next possesion.....guys when they ran they went nowhere and nobody was open when they passed....they were beat upfront...hence they did not move the chain ONCE until LATE 4TH.....What doesn everyone think AL SAUNDERS HAS MAGIC PLAYS THAT gets someone open automatically? .....

No ...Football is a game of individual battles and our team on the offense side collectively lost each and every one of those battles hence 3 straight 3 and outs......they tried to run couldnt they tried to pass couldnt....

just a disgusting half of offensive football...and Portis being a straight player that he is took the blame afterwards as the main culprit!...i respect him but he is Villian #1 in this debacle......he dropped a 3rd down pass and fumbled in 3 plays!!!!...terrible....LETS GO BEARS!!!

I agree the offense was the biggest problem in the second half, but if the defense could've forced at least a few punts, it sure would've helped.
