Welcome Niki! We need as many female Hognosticators as possible to keep us under control. Please forgive the childish behaviour. Some of us male Gognosticators behave as 10 year olds, and others as 5 year olds. It will not take you long to differentiate the children from the babies.

Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

Easy for you to say!
And Redeemed, I am not worried about being at the bottom of the pack. Men will always make their pick based on facts and women factor in emotion. If you haven't noticed there have been a lot of surprise wins that involved team emotion. So don't count your chickens pal!
Thanks for the welcome RIC, I'm used to the boys not behaving but Taz and I will keep you guys in line!

Whenever I start to get blue, I just breathe!
My favortie line from the Simpsons:
Flanders: "Looks like someone is having a pre-rapture party!"
Homer: "No Flanders, it's a meeting of gay witches for abortion , you wouldn't be interested!"

"more fair"?? This from someone who picked Pitsburgh!

I have no problem with "losing" 1 game I can make that up, I think that there are a couple of anomalies and these will be "addressed" by TH and we will be off and running.
I think it is incredible how many have already signed up!! Good luck to all

Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

Great, so it won't be unexpected.

She also wrote:Men will always make their pick based on facts and women factor in emotion.
You just pigeonholed EVERY dude Hognsoticating this year...
You might not want to do that. The last thing you want is for the men to rally togetherand fly under the same banner...

That being said....
Happy Hognosticating!!!

I highly doubt Niki would sit next to you.
Yay -- Thanks for joining in Niki. Now, where's Terri????

If men can run the world, why can't they stop wearing neckties? How intelligent is it to start the day by tying a little noose around your neck?
Sorry I shouldn't have generalized quite so much. The 'average' man will always make picks based on fact. I personally know quite a few men involved in this and they are not 'average'.
That being said I know I will finish above you.
Good luck to everyone!
Thanks Boss and staff for all the hard work and effort put into this. Like some guy I know said, it really gives you a reason to follow each and every game.

"more fair"?? This from someone who picked Pitsburgh!AND then to suggest "less work" to BH!!!! That's right, go ahead and be a "brown nose"!
Ahh, the pot calling the kettle black, eh, SJ?

One page earlier in the thread, SkinsJock wrote:Almost "Solomon like" in his wisdom - this of course from someone who picked Miami- all kidding aside I want to congratulate all who had a part in setting up the Hognostication feature and am really looking forward to participating against 50 + fellow board members! What a kick-off!!
Looking at the numbers, most likely half of the participants who DID submit their picks in time will feel punished for doing so, as a win will be taken away, and the other half gets a clean slate (The pool numbers indicate a 24:22 ratio of picks in the Pit-Miami game, respectively).
I'm certainly biased since I CORRECTLY picked the Stillers to win last night, so, yeah, it would suck to lose that "W" (hey, technically, it COULD be the difference maker at the end of the "marathon" that is the Hognostications season

Plus, it would kill the momentum and mental edge built up going into the remainder of opening weekend. (To put it in perspective: How does it feel RiC, to know that TRO is batting 1.000 while you're floundering at .000, huh??? Answer me!!!! Answer meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!)
My own personal quest for the 'perfecto' notwithstanding, I agree with Boss' suggestion on settling this issue, if we have a deluge of entries today.
Either way, it doesn't change the fact that I'm gonna win it all anyway.
Keep fightin' for second place, y'all. You're doing great!!!!!

And your complaint comes from someone who picked Miami. Forgive me if I fail to see the cause of your indignation. If you joined after this game, it is only fair to count it as a loss, not give a win to those that picked it incorrectly to start with.
SkinsJock wrote:AND then to suggest "less work" to BH!!!! That's right, go ahead and be a "brown nose"!
Hardly. What would be easier in your opinion, to go through 50+ entries and switch all the Miami's to Pittsburgh's, or to go through 10-20 late entries and switch all the Pittsburgh's to Miami's?

Beat Dallas!!!
Funny.. I thought the guy whining about what was fair was the one bitching... oh HEY... that was you JSPB22.
As I said in my post, I'll see how many people sign up today and gauge it from that.
While i know the selfish thing to do is to look at it from one's own point of view, I try to look out for the good of the community as a whole. And since I didn't post the feature until the day before people had to ostensibly have their picks posted by, I think I owe it to them to not make them start behind the eight ball if they sign up today, since there are 255 other games to pick a winner from anyway.
Not everyone can visit the site every day, and I thought that this was a 'fair' way because it penalizes NOBODY. Yes it will be more work for me but again, it's what's fair to the group, not the individual. Sure a few people get a Mulligan, but to me that's better than punishing 20-25 people for not logging on every day and getting in on the action soon enough.
If I had a notice posted for weeks saying that the sign up was coming and to get your picks in, I wouldn't feel the same way. This stems strictly from my inability to get the section posted early enough for people to be exposed to it.
Besides... right now, only two more Hognosticators have sent their picks (Skins Rule, and NikiH), so you're not nearly in danger of losing your win anyway.
So quit your bitching.

Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.
I was truly kidding, but am even more encouraged to think that you both thought that I might have been even a little serious - although from TRO's comments I can tell that he took it the right way!
Looking forward to seeing you "in the ring" so to speak!!
Do try to keep your head up!

I have no trouble with either way. I would have picked the Dolphins and thus would have gotten it wrong anyway. So I'll take the first one out of the gates wrong, no problem.

Such honesty and frankness is rare amongst the hognosticators! I will be watching this one carefully.
well done NikiH

You're right, SKinsJock, honesty is refreshing. I feel so much better.
You're full of jelly! No one in Maine owns a gun!

Just except that you're going to lose to a girl Joe!

BossHog deserves all the kudos for each and everything on this site. Without him, none of this would be possible. I'm glad to have contributed an idea, but it was Mark who, as always, made it a reality. And one cool damn reality it has become.
Good luck to everyone. Have fun and enjoy the smack that appears to have already begun.

God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.

I'm offended by that comment and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Sure we may talk junk, but, the unwritten "Hognostications Code" is based on integrity & character. (For the younger crowd, this equates to: "Word is bond.")
It should be a given that each Hognosticator is both honest and frank, and, no, I'm not singling out frankcal20.
First we're labeled as emotion-less, and NOW we're dishonest and shady???!!!
My, my, my. RiC hit it on the head. Hognostications really shows one's true colors.

Yeah, just like everyone in Maine has all their teeth. And I'm married, so I lose to a girl every day of my life. I'm used to it.
I'm a jack of all trades, the master of three

With the Boss and TH looking into refinements of this fantastic section maybe we could have 2 divisions. If we put TRO into a division with just that low life from SI - I would hognosticate that he would still come in second!
This could also include anybody that joined after the first month - they would all catch up and pass these 2 stalwarts by the end of the season - no worries
