Worst case scenario - he acts like a lunatic and we get rid of him

I was thinking the same thing, but to make it even more worse, than were sitt'n at a one WR offense again! That would set us back to last year. This has to be our year, we did our rebuilding, If we by some chance get this lunatic, well then, he has to stay with us all 16 games and play as a REDSKIN were not 100% in our offense again.

Chris Mortensen of ESPN just announced on Sportscenter that he spoke with a "high official" with the Skins organization and reported that there is NO interest in T.O. =D>

Mort said reportedly there was interest in TO by the SKINS and THEN SAID he spoke to a "high ranking redskins official" that said there was no interest, he followed with a question asking "which is a truth and which is a lie?"

It doesn't hurt us to take a chance on TO at worst he's released next year and at best we are in the SB, if the Eagles blame TO for their fall this year then shame on them, 1 player should never make or break your season...If we can get him, get him. Stop hating TO, DMcNabb does suck and I would also rather have Brett Farve.

It does. Look: :puke:

While I don't want the guy, Mortensen saying we aren't interested makes me scared we might actually be.

That guy is a speculation machine.

Everyone on here puking at the thought of T.O. would be bombarding this website with posts of excitement if it did happen. Although I don't want him here, Im not gonna fool anybody...if he came everyone would start spinning it as potentially positive.

The "reported" interest in T.O. by the Skins was started by the media, NOT BY THE SKINS!!! And further, take a chance on T.O.? Dude, put the pipe down and come back to reality. T.O. is a cancer! You really think that a "character" guy like Gibbs would take a shot on Owens? PLEASE! I don't care how good he is on the field, I would pass on him in a NY minute!

where exactly does it say that mortensen says he went to an official and they said the redskins have "NO intrest"...can't find it anywhere

If we had more stability at the qb position I would be all for this. But it is highly likely that JC will play at some point next season (as a starter, mopup duty, or brunell injury, etc.) and if TO can't get along with 2 Pro Bowl qb's imagine what it is going to be like with a first time qb. That being said, I think that people are hating on TO a little too much. Sure the guy is a jerk, but the contract that he signs with his next team is going to be heavil incenvite laden with not a lot of gauranteed money. Also the contract is more than likely going to contain plenty of behavior clauses and outs for the team if TO misbehaves. No team is going to give him a big contract with gauranteed money until he can show that he can act like a normal human being for more than 1 season. So if he wants to get paid, which is what all of his trouble in Philly seemed to be about, he is going to have to perform well on the field and not cause problems in the loker room.

Wherever he goes next year they need to make sure that all 3 of the Keys to TO's happiness are met, otherwise he will either withdraw or act out.

Maybe sitting out a year he will reallize that less is sometimes more...who knows.

Hogster, (not that you're pushing for his signing) how can you ever be sure that you've done right by a man whose financial and emotional needs change as his perception of his own performance ( and consequently, worth) increases ?
I can't see how any dollar amount will ever actually equal what TO believes TO is worth...particularly when you consider that he feels it's perfectly acceptable to point out (real or imagined) deficiencies in his own teammates to elevate his status, and to explain why TO is the only reason a team ever wins.
You'd have to leave the check blank for him...and who can do that anymore ?
There's absolutely no denying his talent. No way. But you can't believe a word out of his mouth. Everything he says is only the truth for a moment...and is subject to change without warning.
I want to throw this in, while I'm here. I think Joe is flexible with the whole "Gibbs Guy" thing. He can handle a Prima Donna or two so long as the "supporting cast" is rock solid, if the talent justifies it. Riggins, Manley...Joe has experience with guys who want more money, so long as the end justifies the means.
How much is too much for one guy ?

Word out of Redskin's Park late this evening is We are NOT interested in T.O. Not at all. Cerrato said something along the lines of "He'd fit in on the field but not in the locker room." So there you have it fellas, no more rumors please. I'm so sick of seeing these threads and thinking they're actual news. lol

Why ? T.O. has B.O. ? :)
Seriously...Cerrato has some experience with this guy. I think he may have had a hand in his drafting.
Owens was Class of '96, right ?
Cerrato was there until Walsh came back... that's his guy.
(I think Druckenmiller was his last. ROTFALMAO )

NikiH i think that we are passing on TO also but to just believe what Cerrato says isn't the best idea. Front office guys lie all the time thats nothing new.

Well, the Redskins staff says no. Makes me feel 100% better. I'm glad they've got their thinking caps on.

Terrell will NOT be coming to D.C. Mark my words.

For the record, I never said that I wanted T.O. I actually said that I didn't want him here.

My three points were based on what T.O. thinks as far as his contract. I for one think his prior contract was fine and that if he had kept his mouth shut he would have gotten most of the money in the contract guaranteed or not and would have been one of the most sought after athletes for marketing...if only he had some character. I think he was unhappy with his contract, but I think now that he realizes that interest in him is dwindling he may understand that the only way for him to make any money in the NFL is to let his playing on the field do the talking for him.

I also saw sportscenter and the report about the high ranking person for the Skins said no interest in TO. So may times thats just a smoke screen to the real truth. I still won't be shocked if they sign TO. There is usually some truth to rumors, they just don't come out of the blue. Every team is probably quietly thinking of having TO on their team. I mean, he is only the most talented WR around and could be relativly cheap to sign. That will make lots of GM's think.

I have spend much hard earned time bad mouthing TO and laughing at the Eagles spiralling out of control. It would be a kind of nightmare to have him join the Skins!

It would send the wrong message to Moss anyway..we only want a number 2 not someone who would only accept the number 1 role

Really. See... he's not even on the team and the fans are in an uproar. Hearing all the endless shots at the Skins and Snyder by the media already, I can't imagine what they would be saying if we did sign him.
