brunell vs ramsey
i personally think that putting brunell in instead of ramsey is a smart move on gibb's part. honeslty because brunell is a veteran who doesnt make too many mistakes. Ramsey on the other hand is good at times but he not smart. he is very inconsitant as well. I think starting brunell is the smarter move because it gives us the better chance at winning this year. he looks alot better than last year as well. i mean c'mon guys do u all wanna see another losing season? i mean im sick of this rebuilding stuff....i know this topic has probly already been discussed but this is my second post so i figured id share my POV.

ramsey is not being "taught" anything. he is being disposed of. what QB in the league could possibly play under the circumstances "OK, you played well enough last year to earn the starting job. But if you throw ONE interception, you are back on the bench!". that is madness. or did we all forget that that's WHY ramsey was appointed the starter? HE PLAYED WELL LAST YEAR, once he became the starter. HE ALSO PLAYED WELL IN 2003. or did we conviently forget that, too? what's more important, his real game experience in 2003 and starting experience in 2004, or 4 MEANINGLESS preseason games and ONE INTERCEPTION in the 1st real game of 2005?
I agree, he's already said that if he gets in again he's playing for pride and playing good enough to land on another team next year; "That's the only way you go about it: You compete," Ramsey said. "You go out there and do your best. At a certain point, pride takes over. And you play for pride and play to win and you play to go somewhere in this league."
Gibbs handled the situation as bad as it could be handled, Ramsey's gone, I'm sick of this Gibbs discipline stuff.
don't even
Well I have read all the posts and it seems to me that Ramsey should be benched because Gibbs feels that Brunell gives the team the best chance to win. This is the NFL and in this game the caoches do not care about anything but giving your team the best chance to win. This is not about who has the most talent or what your stats were this year or last - this is the coach saying this guy gives our team the best chance to win.
I also would add that Ramsey must realize that his only opportunity to improve his "situation" is to be the best he can be and grab the opportunity when it comes back his way. He is not getting a better deal unless he can show he's worth it and if (most likely when) he gets on that field and does not show he is a very good QB then he is not going to be worth very much to anyone.
If Brunell has a great season then we are in the playoffs and Ramsey is looking at the best offer.

Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

From the FOX NFL Guys week 2:
Joe Gibbs & Jimmy Johnson - I am not about to suggest that I know more than eother of these two coaches, but I do belive Ramsey can play. I just think he'll be a late bloomer ala Rich Gannon.

IS IT THE PLAYERS OR THE SYSTEM? Howie Long on the recurring quarterback woes in Washington: "I don't know if the problem surrounds the quarterbacks or the coaches in Washington, but I do know that not one QB has looked good in this system. Brunell struggled all of last year, though a lot of that was written off to injury. Now Ramsey is having trouble and has never really been Joe Gibbs' guy."
Jimmy Johnson added: "I trust Joe Gibbs' judgment. Ramsey can't play."

So it's Brunell or Campbell - bye bye Ramsey
They've been saying on ESPN that Ramsey will never start for Washington again. Ramsey will be a band aid if Brunell gets dinged but if Brunell goes down for an extended period of time Campbell is taking over. I personally think that this is a good policy based simply on the fact that it greatly simplifies our QB situation. It looks like Gibbs has a firm plan in mind now. Too bad for Ramsey but it looks like the only chance he has of playing for the 'Skins again is if both Brunell and Campbell go down.

If ESPN says so, it must be true. Sure...

I will support whoever is on the field every week.
Daniel Snyder has defined incompetence, failure and greed to true Washington Redskins fans for over a decade and a half. Stay away from football operations !!!

I'm sorry, I just can't support just anyone. I'm rooting for the Redskins and I want to have the best chance to win and Brunell isn't it. His best days are far in the past. He is a good backup Qb and nothing more. Ramsey may not be the answer, but I sure as Hell know that Brunell isn't either. I'd rather lose game with Campbell than Brunell.

I've had enough of Gibbs. When is Williams going to take over. I really think this game has passed Gibbs by.
I'm watching Brunell stink it up tonight and am totally disgusted. Good choice Gibbs. I guess you are a man and not a God. It's just too bad this mistake is costing us a chance at the playoffs/Superbowl.

hey champsturf i am with you 100%. i said before this game, "if brunell stinks it up, and the offense looks piddly, it's time for gibbs to go". we'll have to start a nice long thread about this later and get a lot of people yelling at us.

It's comments like those that make me wonder how old some people here are. You're calling for the removal of Gibbs after 17 1/2 games?

Maybe next time you should wait til the game's over before you decide to oust the coach...
