Well, he IS a believer, too, now that you bring it up.

Trent Dilfer

I was pretty selfish growing up, looking out for number one. I did anything to become more popular. Playing football and even going to church were just more ways to be popular. Both were self-serving.

Even with all the attention I received from athletics, I was still restless. It wasn't until my junior year in college at an FCA camp that I really came to understand what it meant to be a Christian. It was then that I trusted Christ as my Savior.

Since then my focus has gradually changed from pleasing myself to pleasing God. God has also changed the way I view people. I used to look at people for how they could help me, but now my perspective is how I can help them and love them. Since trusting Christ, my view of football has also changed. I now see playing in the NFL as a chance for me to influence people for Him.

Still, Brunell is creeping into the limelight!!!

Tailgaters:

This could be trouble:

Quarterback Mark Brunell has been added to the team's injury report. He suffered a mild strained calf injury during Thursday's practice and he is officially listed as probable for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.
The injury is not serious and Brunell is expected to play against the 49ers, team officials said.

"I just tweaked my calf muscle dropping back to pass--it's something I've done before and honestly it's not that big of a deal," Brunell said. "It feels like I got kicked more than anything else. I don't anticipate it being a problem."

It's been a while since I posted in this thread, and looking at my last post goes further to cement the legacy of #8 here in DC. He completely demolished the Niners, completed the sweep of the Cowboys, and got revenge on the Blue Men Group.

This is a more recent photo of "The Great Number Eight":

Enjoy!!!

P.S. I still maintain that the real secret to Brunell's success this year is due to his shaving of the hideous sideburns from a year ago. The chops were holding him down, I say. Ridding himself of the Sasquatch-esque facial hair did wonders to revive his career.

I know the original source is not a favorite around here, but the story about Mark is very heart warming. Thank you, Sally Jenkins, for sharing. Here it is:

Brunell loves to tell a story about his beginnings in the league: In 1995 he was the brand new quarterback for the expansion Jaguars. The Jaguars' star draft choice was Tony Boselli, the offensive tackle out of Southern California. The two were vacationing with their wives on St. Thomas, and as they lounged, a boy asked Boselli for his autograph. Boselli signed it and then said, "You might want to get his, too," and nodded toward Brunell.

The boy said, "Why would I want his autograph? That would be like him asking for mine."
