With Oakland we could have picked up a 2nd rounder

Okay...this one is a shocker. If someone had come up w/this goofy trade scenario this morning, I'd have thought they were crazy.
At first glance, I didn't like this trade. But, upon further review...the winning Redskins teams have always been built on the concept of "the future is now..."... So based upon that logic...our net loss for this year was a 3rd rounder...but we gained a 1st rounder. Not too shabby. Ya we have to give up our number 1 and number 4 next year...but who the heck cares? We'll figure out a way to acquire some more picks.
Really, it's no big deal. I'm on record (I'm feeling in the minority on this) that this is a good deal.

Trade #9 and 50/50 to Cleveland for #3 and take M. Williams. This reunites Gardner with for WR coach Robiske and lands us our #1 target. With #25, take either Carlos Rogers or Erasmus James
Gardner never played with Terry Robiskie. He was drafted by Marty Shottenheimer, after Robiskie was relieved of his head coaching duties.

One other thing...fat lenny says that we graded Campbell on par with Rogers and Smith. Does anyone else find this eerily similar to when we drafted Ramsey? The 2 hot QB's that year were Carr and Harrington...and Ramsey was the "underrated" but equal to the others to many.

If you really want to be depressed by this trade, scan the last 10 years of pick #25.
Donavin Darius, Kris Hovan and Charles Grant are about the only non-busts. Get ready for the likes of Jon Harris, Jermane Mayberry or Billy Milner.
Throw in Freddie Mitchell. Gawd, what is it with Philly and busts at #25.

There's nothing to be depressed about... I don't see what's so bad about bumping next years pick to this year.... we have no clue where we will be in next years draft.... if Gibbs & Company thinks there's gonna be a couple of players at 25 that will help this team.... why pass on that, and wait to see what's out there next year??
So we gave up a third & fourth to get it... whoopty-doo... after the first & second rounds... your searching for needles in hay stacks.... and we'll probably atleast get one of those back when we trade 50/50.... so esentially... if worst comes to worst.... we gave up a 3rd to bump our pick to this year... big deal...

This trade isn't too unlike the trade that we made last year to get
ey. It's on a bit of a larger scale, so hopefully we'll get an even better player out of it, but I can certainly imagine no one complaining in a years time if (say) we draft Pac-Man + Miller and both shine. But even though we gave up (I believe) this year's 2nd round pick to get
ey, no one 'round here is going to dare complain about it.
Gibbs must see something, otherwise this wouldn't happen. Our guesses are probably be better than the knuckleheads at ESPN, but only Saturday will tell. In my opinion, PacMan / Williams seems to be the most likely course of action here.
If that's true, I'm still not sure how I feel. It would be nice to not have to worry about the HBack and TE positions for the next 3-5 years. In my opinion, TE is our weakest position on the field (though WR and DE compete for the spot). Give a good offensive threat to complement
ey and teams are going to have to worry about a lot more than CP and our receivers next year. . .

CHRIS!!
Relax Dog, it'll all work out in the end.
We're the Redskins Man! Destined for Greatness! This is a rare oppurtunity to have Joe Gibbs back, and I'm sure he's making the most of it! Remember when everyone was all pumped over previous seasons becasue of the offseason??? Well thats not happening this time. No Big Signings. None of that! Joe Gibbs is a pro,man he will lead us back to the big dance.

Read Tandler's Redskins blog. Some good ideas, who knows what Gibbs is doing but maybe he'll draft down now and we'll still have a 1st round draft pick. Or maybe two impact players, either way, it does seem like it sucks, but who knows what will happen next year, in the sense of what draft picks and order we get. chill guys, wait till after this weekend.

I am certainly not a draft guru, but here is what I think. The Skins are gonna trade the #9 pick for a couple of 2nd rounders. We're gonna pick the best CB available at #25 and the best LB and, you heard it here first, QB McPherson in the 2nd round.
Just a hunch.
Frankly, I have no idea what the hell is going to happen...or what the hell I'm talking about. I'm just throwin' this mess out there for discussion like everyone else.
Needless to say, draft day #1 will be a lot of fun!

I don't even think we can guess what is about to happen in this years draft. The team has said that they believe they are set at most all positions and need to just gel some. Then they go out and end up with 2 first rounders. Either that line was some b.s. or we're working on moving up. My take on it is that we're trying to move up to get a certain player (cough cough williams) and we're picking up another first rounder because we have a certain position (cough cough corner) that we need to fill and wouldn't be able to get a starter in the third round.
If i had to levy a guess mine would be we'd work out a trade with cleveland who has many needs and send our number 9, gardner, fourth rounder this year and a second next year for the number three. We take williams then take fabian washington at CB at #25.

This just seems like too much maneuvering to be doing without a specific plan in place.
We will no doubt trade this pick Expect more moves
That is why so much was given up today for the #25th pick
We could……
Trade out of #9 down between 13-17 and net a 2nd rounder and still get a quality DE
The 25th pick would also be manipulated into draft picks (this year or next)
Or
We could package both picks and send them to Tampa who might want to get out of the top 5 plus there 2nd this year and 3rd/4th next year. This recoups most of what we have given up and will net us either Williams or Edwards along we the picks
We will also probably receive a 3rd/4th rounder for Gardner soon.
I don’t know what we are doing but all of a sudden I’m not bored anymore
