I thought Brunell played well today and appreciated his being there, but to say he made no mistakes is total crap. He was lucky to have his interception called back-- it could have cost us the game and was not caused by the ragging of Santana's jersey, regardless of the ruling. He threw a long floater into double coverage and deserved the pick. He also tripped and fell without being touched during a crucial series. What was just as oafish,
he threw to the one yard line on a third and goal when the receiver had no chance to get in. That's three mistake by my count. Ramsey had one. third mistake.
Fully agree. A pass to the one yard line to the ground when you need a TD is CLEARLY a mistake - and a costly one at that. Brunell was hardly blameless, and truly,
we got DAMN lucky on that pass interference call.
isn't that one of the main resons everyone was bitching last year? isn't that one of the main reasons(other than the yards) that you take deep shots in todays nfl? just asking.
Excellent point! Especially with the new rules emphasis.

Oh I like long passes, but even Brunell agreed in the press conference that he screwed the pooch on that one. He blamed it on not being warmed up.
Ramsey is just a more accurate passer. The only question is his decision making. I don't think we saw enough to take him out for that. He was playing very good prior to the injury, and more importantly, Brunell was HORRID last year.

I can't wait to see Bledsoe go down.
Going to check around the league and put up thread if there is not one already.

Coach Joe Gibbs may be throwing the season away. Putting in an UNIMPRESSIVE Mark Brunell, keeping him in, all game. Ruining the young kids confidence. As Patrick sits their, thinking about how maybe he shouldn't get injured at all ever again and avoid every injury by throwing the ball away before he gets hit so that these things dont happen because Mr. Gibbs, his boss, will take him out of the game for the year if he gets injured. As Patrick sits, there helmet on, waiting to play, waiting, waiting, then he seems Brunell smile, he forces a smile back, and knows it isn't Brunell's fault he got to play. Then later, he hears that Coach doesn't know who the starter is. Did coach not realize that one of the turnovers Ramsey had was an unsportmanlike play? The the LB that forced the turnover made a bad move, and ended up injuring Patrick Ramsey? Now doesn't this show that Mr. Gibbs has already given up on young Ramsey? That he has no confidence what so ever that the kid can do it? Taking a young QB in the FIRST round of the 2005 draft and also signing free agent Mark Brunell a while back. Patrick's confidence could be ruined, especially sense Joe Gibbs backed him all preseason and told everybody Patrick was the starter. Now, in the first week of the regualr season, takes him out because of a so called injury that he was later cleared for? Does the old ball coach really know what he is doing? This move will ignite the QB controversey talk, which will put more pressure on Ramsey IF he ever comes in this year again. It will create widespread talk on every single sports radio and tv show. It will create stupid talk that Ramsey had a bad game, which he didn't, and how could you even judge his peformance with the short time that he was in?
Thats all i got guys.
it wasn't his neck it was an obvious decision to hold ramsey out. let me ask you this. would you rather see pram shine, or the washington redskin shine? i prefer the latter. with ramsey in, the offense as a WHOLE plays worse.
the offense as a whole plays worse? no. Portis played worse because they didnt run him outside yet. Ramsey can throw, he was able to throw the ball and made alot of nice passes. When Brunell has one more attempt (or maybe it was completion..)m he had less yards passing. Brunell is one of the best BACKUPS in the league, and him playing for an INJURED ramsey is fine, but he didnt have a good game, he didnt get the team any TD's, and Ramsey was ready to. And would i rather see pram shine or the skins shine? That doesnt make alot of sense, because if ramsey shines, the skins will shine. You call this a real win? you cant be happy with this win, yes its a W. DUH, but we won by 2, and didnt score a touchdown. I feel Ramsey was getting hotter and hotter. He also has that TD before that BS call on

ey is called. Either way, i pray that Gibbs is actually SMART and names Ramsey the starter for week 2.

My take on the QB events today.
Ramsey got whacked. Brunell looked good in preseason, so Gibbs decided to not risk Ramsey and he sat him the rest of the game. Brunell looked ok. He didn't look as good as preseason, but he was pretty accurate and didn't make mental mistakes. Gibbs praised Brunell in the press conference, but didn't say anything about next weeks starter.
Ramsey started sluggishly, but was starting to play solid as the quarter went on.
Ramsey will be our starter next week barring lingering injury.

its over. gibbs didn't draft campell because he has a strong arm. it was because he thinks he can make it in the new nfl. i agree. ramsey is a terrific person, but about as mobile as a concrete bunker.

This should be the right call. I'm expecting this as well, baring us finding out that the neck injury is more serious.

Lucky to have the INT called back? That's easy to say from your couch. If you are running at speed and someone pulls your jersey hard enough for the shoulder pad to pop out, you will not have the same lift to go for the ball. You could clearly see Moss have to stutter step to jump for the ball and he was late getting up b/c of the penalty. Maybe he doesn't make the catch..maybe he just prevents an INT. But it was a legitimate penalty which affected the play.
No matter what Moss does or doesn't do or what was legitimate and what wasn't, it was a dumb floater of a pass into coverage and deserved to be picked off.

To SkinsFanIn Hawaii - Bledsoe just got crushed back on his 1 yds line. They went backward to the 1 after the K.O.

Yeah, this is true. Ramsey also held the ball a tad long on a play or two. But he really can take a hit well, so not being mobile doesn't necessarily kill him. We had a completely non-mobile QB in 91 and did OK. If Ramsey has time, he's deadly. Brunell may finally be able to scramble again, but he's just not that accurate anymore.

I actually feel great about this win. Who cares how you win a game? Just because you think the Bears are the worst team in the NFL, that doesn't make it true. The Bears have a great defense. Their offense proved to be "decent" as well. If nothing else, that goes to show you how good our Offensive line is and yet again proves how good our defense is. Ramsey was hurt. I'll go with Gibbs decision over your opinion every single day of the week and then some.
We moved the ball well, even with Brunell in there who again doesn't make enough completions with the longer passes. I'm extremely happy with this win, and with how the team is looking. Once Patrick gets healthy and back in there, we'll start lighting up the scoreboard as well.
