I think the graphic that they were displaying on Fox is an important indicator of what this team is predicated around: RUNNING.

The graphic showed that when the Skins run the ball over 30 times a game they are now 119-19 during Gibbs' tenure.

The Skins rushed the ball 41 times.

I'm happy to see the running game back as the main focus of the offense. It obviously works.

No the Texans are no good on both sides of the ball... so saying that the little dinky passes worked casue our guys were covered is silly... we were conservitive... Portis wont get 74 yards on a shovel pass against tought def. portis is the man but a good def with 2-4 quick guys... one of them will catch him... he didnt score because some one got him...

Just a thought but the Colts played the Texans last week and Peyton Manning failed to break the record that Brunnell broke today. So obviously, there is something more then just playing a bad team today.

And I will quote Ray Brown in the Post Game Show, for those of you who don't get to see it. "It's about winning!" That is just what we did. We game planned and it worked. There could very well be a different game plan for the Jags and it could involve more passes like the one we saw to David Patten.

Here's a nifty little tool some of you should use before you start typing!

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/live/NFL_20060924_WAS@HOU

Randle El had 3 catches today, not one. And further our stats looked about the same as the Colts did when they played the Texans. You people need to wake up and form your own opinion instead of listening to the drivel that main stream media is feeding you with a spoon.

That's because Manning actually threw the ball more than a few yards passed the line of scrimmage. What we did today worked, but comparing Brunell to Manning is pretty rediculous.

I did not compare him to Manning. I compared their performances against the SAME team.

Complain, complain, complain. Guess I should just be greatful I don't have to put up with any of your type in real life.

I don't mean it as a complaint, I'm just not as impressed with Brunell's performance as some. People have been complaing about Brunell because he has had problems completing intermediate and long passes, handling the pressure/stepping up in the pocket, and hasn't been using the middle of the field. Today he did a very good job of throwing screens and dumping the ball off, however, the throws he was making are the type that even a young NFL qb should be able to make with a high degree of accuracy. So yes Brunell did a great job with his throws today, but whether by design or circumstance, he wasn't asked to take many 5 or 7 step drops, didn't face a lot of pressure, and didn't have to throw the ball down the field at all. So I'm happy with his performance, but at the same time I still have the same doubts about him that I did before the game.

I didn't get to follow along with this thread during the game, and I haven't read all the way back through it, but some of these posts are amazing. I think some people just like to be negative. We won a game we had to win, and we looked good doing it (and doing it "our way"). How much would we have had to win by for some of you to be happy?

Why can you not just enjoy this moment? We saw Mark complete whatever play was called today and the rest of the offense did whatever was asked of him. I saw Santana hold off two defenders to let Betts by. THere is something to be excited about regardless of what is coming around the corner.

Not to mention there is every reason to believe that they will execute and overcome next week as well.

Heck, if nothing else you should be happy that our kicker/punter played AWESOME today. There is no part of the Texans that effects that.

To mention Mark Brunell in the same breath as Peyton Manning is reaching at best. Kudos to Mark he responded well, now if we can just get the NFL to put the Texans in the NFC East we will have ourself a leader.

check this link and you will see that most teams that face HOU have a good day...

like i said... love the W and we dont need to win by lots, but we dominated a weak team like we should have, next week if we dominate then we can start talking about being good and what not... and in JAC the y have a top 7 def and top 10 O. A. Johnson had 100+ yds and 10+ catches today. That cant happen in JAC. Maybe springs will be back

I am very very happy with the win.

Brunell played awesome....but our problems with him are not fixed. He needs to do it against a decent team for me to believe in him again, but I am happy with the way he played today.
