You're probably right on that. Should have been the HC after Gibbs.

Cousins is not going to be playing here after this season (if he does not sign a long term deal) no matter how much money is offered

Yes and that starts with being a consistent winner and a team that rewards the players that win. It starts at the top. I think what this whole thread is about is the fact that we have not been hiring the right people and when we do from coaches to players we never get that "total" person doing what they were successful with. Theres always some caveat to the deal.

I remember trading for Jason Taylor and putting him on the strong side of the dline first game of the season playing injured when he was more of a 4-3 weak side or even 3-4 outside linebacker. We hired Scot McCloughan without his staff. Some reason Scot Campbell is still hanging around bringing in film for college athletes. He's been here since 2005 with minimum success.

We hired Shanny and made the mistake of giving him the GM title as well. While he pulled some good moves he had too much power at the wrong time of his coaching career.

The Redskins always pull half measures (if you familiar with the show breaking bad). Yes we all remember having one of the best defenses in the league and firing Gregg Williams...or retaining Haslett with the new staff, or making the mistake of retaining Gruden with McCloughan (let him hire his own coach).

All rings true.

and lately we've heard reports that maybe we just don't need a GM

I mean, you just can't make this stuff up
