Philly did a good job of stopping our run, and Kirk made them pay for it.

Because the two players best at playing man coverage are both injured. Our corners and safeties will get destroyed stacking eight or nine in the box.

It does not have to be eight. You can send 5 or 6 and have the rest in coverage. Corner blitzes , zone blitzes, the main idea is sending more then four.

I'm positive they've been sending more than four. Kerrigan is getting pressure and forcing a lot of hurries. He's just not getting sacks. We're not seeing much in the way of safety blitzes but that's probably by design.

Let's get real here - it's only 4 games - we really just need to start eliminating the costly penalties and play to our capabilities - we are fortunate that the other teams in our division are not exactly playing very well either - 1 game at a time - hopefully we continue to see better play - the NFC East 'title' is possible but not exactly "set up perfectly for us" ... this group has a lot of work to do

we have 12 games left - that's 3 sets of 4 games - we would do well to go 2-2 in each of those sets

Exactly. Is it really crazy to expect this team to take a division thats battered throughout? Yes we have difficult non division opponents on our scheduele but the other teams in the division have to play the same teams as well.

This is not positive spin. Its being real.
We can win this division. I expect it. I demand it.

Demand it.......

The actual reality is that we have played 4 games --- all against mediocre AT BEST teams (2 are actually straight up bad). We are MIA's only win. STL played a bad game against us and we were at home and played our best game of the year. We lost handily to NYG and PHI is just a disaster.

If you look at the remainding season on a game by game basis, what are your expectations??? Of our 12 remaining games, only 4 have losing records. Our games (multiple) against DAL will INCLUDE Romo and Dez. 7 of these games are played away. I don't think 8-8 is unrealistic by any means based on how we have played up to this point.

I also think you are grossly underestimating the division. By mid-November, the NYG could very well be 6-2 (seeing how they play SF, PHI, DAL (without Romo and likely Dez), and NO). They then play NE and @WAS followed by 5 winnable games. To say the NYGs could get to 10 wins isn't unrealistic.

You make some good points. However I still belive we can win this division. Dallas is done. At least I think so. How can Romo and Dez return to form after being injured for most of the season? I just cant see them doing anything this year.

Philly just won there last game against a bad Saints team. However there defense is pretty good. If the offense of the birds can come alive they may make some noise.

NYGs are playing the best in our division right now. You are right they may win 10. Eli manning is actually playing well. Eli is Jeckyl and Hyde one game he may be good another he is not. Hes always been that way. We will see.

Our team just played a very competitive game against Atlanta. Our defense played well considering they were on the field twice as long as our offense.

I just think our offense has to mix it up and take what the opposing defense gives us. Teams are coming out planning on stopping our run. This should be a perfect time to set up the run through the pass or vice versa.
I dont think we should run against an 8 man front. I rather us play the probabilities in our favor. If Kirk lines up against an 7-8 man front audible to a pass. If we line up for a pass play and you see the linebacker backed up six yards call a run that way.

OK - here we go - 11 games - the goal is to win as many as possible and getting 6 more would be a good season ...

Jets - not likely
Bucaneers - W
Patriots - L
Saints - W
Panthers - not likely
Giants - W
Pukes - not likely
Bears - W
Bills - not likely
Eagles - maybe
Pukes - L

winning the division is possible because the other teams are not very good but the pukes look like they can get it

we do look like we may be able to get to 8 though

Agree. I personally think that NYG is the team to beat currently. PHI looked good against NO, but they are a different team at home. We shall see what happens to them. DAL appears to be imploding and their schedule is TOUGH. I still see us at 8-8 AT BEST. I don't think that will be good enough to win the division.

As far as the 7-8 man front, I don't think that should be a hard and fast rule. It is just not as simple as looking at where the defenders are standing pre-snap. That will get you KILLED. NFL DEFs are so dynamic these days that 7-8 man front could easily be a disquised coverage package. Even DEs are dropping back into coverage assignments. You can easily have a 6 man front with the house coming in and vice versa. That is why pre-snap reads, snap count, cadence, and motion are so important. In addition, matchups are HUGE. Remember that TD pass play that was reversed against ATL? Before the snap, I yelled "oh s&!^ that's a TD" --- because Freeman was out wide and matched up with Compton (which is a total mismatch in favor of Freeman). Ryan identified that at the line and literally starred at Freeman until he was open. If you have a good matchup with a 7-8 man front, adjust you blocking at the line and make the pass. So while I agree in theory, in reality that just won't work.

The NYG made Kaepernick look good. Their defense is bad. While I do think they are the toughest out of Dallas and Philly, they are by no means the team to beat, IMO. I think the Skins biggest opponent within the division this season will be themselves.

I can't figure the NFC East out at all. The whole division is schizophrenic.

The Redskins could be playing 'meaningful' games in December because of how the NFC East teams are playing ...

I think it will come down to the pukes on top and then the eagles or us and the giants in last place

Everything is set up perfectly for us except for D. Hall, DJax, Williams, Lichtensteiger, Jordan Reed, Culliver, and Matt Jones being out injured. Other than that, its like we've been handed the division on a plate!!! :D

Raise your hand if you had the Skins only one game out with the same record as the Seahawks six weeks into the season….

This begs the question, for all the RGIII supporters, as to what the ceiling is even if RGIII is as good as Russell Wilson. He isn't, but it begs the question.

EXACTLY

I see the pukes, giants and Redskins at 5-6 going into December ... no matter who is playing QB after the bye

5-6 would be a major victory going into December. Schedule:

vs. Bucs
at Pats
vs. Saints
@ Panthers
vs. Giants

Even at my most optimistic I'm thinking 4-7. None of those games are gimmes, especially for this team.

Whatever happens in that stretch, man do I want to beat the Giants at home. Sick of them.

IMO we lose to Patriots and Panthers and that would be great ... I'd LOVE 8-8 but I now am thinking 7-9

DEHog's 'meaningful' games in December is possible but it does not matter because Gruden is gone anyway based on his leadership and on how he handled the QBs

At this point I'd be THRILLED with 7-9. If we don't fix our run game (both sides of the ball), & figure out our Q3 problems, we ill be at least as bad as last year.

Frankly, no one should give one rat's rear what the team's record is this season. It won't be indicative of the future of the organization. We went into the season with low expectations and that's exactly what they should have been: low. No good team was ever built from next to nothing in a single offseason. There are plenty of people who are full of crap with the "If only RGIII was playing we'd be winning games" nonsense but no fan of the team is buying that garbage. No one expected anything from Kirk Cousins until he was named the starter, then people expected miracles. The truth is most likely that Cousins is playing because the team knows it's not keeping RGIII or Colt and wanted to see if it should keep Cousins. So, we had no quarterback going into the season and we still don't have one. People act like this is surprising. People act like naming Kirk Cousins the starter should have guaranteed something in the way of success. Why? And now we have an entire thread dedicated to winning a division title. Because a 4th round pick made a few plays. Christ on a bicycle. If we went undefeated in this division this year it wouldn't mean anything. The division sucks. Is that the measuring stick we want to use? It's not the one I want to use. We have absolutely nothing in the way of competition for good teams and we'll be lucky if New England doesn't kick our tails worse this time than they did the last time. When we are capable of defeating good teams on the road I'll care what our record is. In the interim any discussion of a division title is laughable. And, yea, screw the Giants. Eli's got to be the worst starting quarterback to ever win two Super Bowls.

I agree with what you wrote, man. I would just be happy to not be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs in mid November for a change. So I only give a "rat's rear" about the record in that regard. The more meaningful games the team can be playing, the better.

most here know my thoughts about this season prior to it beginning - the 2 most important things to me are that we see evidence that Dan Snyder is not involved with the product on the field and we see that the product on the field is improving

the jury is still out on Dan Snyder but the product on the field is clearly improving

this season is all about rebuilding - that process might take another season at least - we MIGHT have a decent team in 2017

the fact that the other teams in the NFC East suck does not mean jack to me

Our rushing attack vanished for the past 4 games.
Our rushing defense vanished the past 2 games.
Our 3Q play has to be the worst in the history of football at all levels.

These leave very pessimistic.
