This would be very interesting! Samuels did struggle last year but I blame that on Spurriers pathetic college schemes! Gallery is a monster! But I would not say he is a lock for sucess! You never know! I would be more comfortable if we got something else in return

I agree with what an earlier post said. Why would the Raiders take Samuels when they can get a younger product that they can develope at possibly a cheaper price. The only thing I think that would stand out to them is the extra draft pick. If the deal does happen though I think it would be good for the Redskins (although the money would/could be an issue).

Bear with me on this one. For those of you whom are agreeing that trading Chris for a shot at Gallery; observe the following facts/points. First of all, a lackluster season alone is enough to make a man dig deep and come back twice as strong. But if we look deeper, look at what the whole line had to deal with in Spurrier's schemes. They backpeddled so much they were in the parking lot by halftime. So, while Chris may not have played to his full potential, he wasn't exactly playing "his" game, either. Secondly, with Bugel and Gibbs at the helm, and a strong running game soon to come, he's gonna get that warm and fuzzy because that's what linemen live for...plowing over defenders creating holes. Once it starts getting good to them, confidence will return, etc., etc. etc. Last but not least, let's look at Gallery. Sure, he's raw talent WAITING to be molded. But, I think it's too much risk for us at this time, not to mention the cap hit, yada yada yada...(beating dead horse.) So, before you pack Chris's duffle for the greyhound, think about what kinda system he's been in the past couple of years, and what he will have this year, then make your decision. ...And I'm spent...

Who knows, but I thought I would throw it out there.

That would be a horrible trade. Samuels is already solidified as one of the games top tackles. Gallery is a "maybe" when looking at how good he'll become. He has all the tools, but he's proven nothing other than that he is a great college player. So was mountain man Briant McKiney (Miami). The Vikings took him high in the first round and the dude's done nothing, and has even been replaced in some games.

Samuels has had two excellent seasons, one above average season, and one okay season. He is worth more than being dealt for a freaking pick.

BC28: I don't think King mentioned this anywhere, anyways.

R56: McKinnie also held out for 90 days. I'm glad we have Chris. If my memory serves me correctly, he only held out for less than a day when he was a rookie.

Great trade this guy is supposed to be great. Joe Bugel will help him learn fast. It will also be cheaper.

Definitely will not be cheaper. The cap hit (as stated by Rich and Boss) would be $9 million. So cheaper is the worng word.

It wouldnt be cheaper this year, but would be cheaper over the life of the contract. His salary only gets more and more ridiculous.

I think Samuels could thrive in a run oriented attack like Gibbs will implement, but if he doesnt play better this season AND restructure his deal, he is gone.

but see - if we let him go or trade him next year then we start saving money - there will be less of a hit from the pro rated signing bonus and his salary will be higher....

This year we take a huge hit AND have to sign a top 5 draft pick or TWO the way the rumor is stating...

I think he will thrive under Buges... think about Dockery at 325 pounds next to Samuels and being coached by a line coach who understands line unity and discipline...

What a line with the five we have now getting exponentially better.... Who have they really had to coach them since coming to the team?

A college coach? s'yeah... right...

College schemes, college coaches, no NFL experience, stupid play calling, bad situational calling and a prideful coach who couldn't or wouldn't see the forest for the trees.

By the by... most of the Pro Bowl caliber left tackles will be expensive and more so as time rolls along. Chris isn't out of line if his performance improves like we think he will.
