In the NFL, the Skins have the 17th rated uniform. With the Gold Pants version being named the best. Not that I know how they do this ranking, but it's pretty interesting to see how the league shakes out.

The top five NFL uniforms are yet to be released, but here’s Uni Watch’s Power Rankings so far:

32. Cincinnati Bengals
31. Minnesota Vikings
30. Carolina Panthers
29. Arizona Cardinals
28. Jacksonville Jaguars
27. Seattle Seahawks
26. Detroit Lions
25. Atlanta Falcons
24. Denver Broncos
23. Baltimore Ravens
22. New Orleans Saints
21. St. Louis Rams
20. Houston Texans
19. Tennessee Titans
18. New York Giants
17. Washington Redskins
16. Cleveland Browns
15. New England Patriots
14. Indianapolis Colts
13. New York Jets
12. San Diego Chargers
11. Kansas City Chiefs
10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
9. Miami Dolphins
8. San Francisco 49ers
7. Buffalo Bills
6. Dallas Cowboys
5. Philadelphia Eagles
Who’s left: Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Oakland Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers

Apparently this list had less to do with how the uniforms look and more to do with the history of the franchise or the current popualarity. How else can you explain the teams in the top five (their unis are nothing special!). How else can you explain the Browns being anything but 32ed or tied for 32 with Cinci.

The Dolphins' and Patriots' Unis are nreally bad too!

I agree on Cleveland. They have the worst uniforms in the league and have forever. When I was a kid, the Tampa Bay Bucs in those orange unis took the crown.

I'm also not a fan of the modern cartoon like logos. See Jacksonville

I like the one not on the list ....

The old throwback ... buckskin pants, burgundy jersey, and the arrow helmet.

That's probably cuz I'm an old throwback myself.

I'm not quite a throwback, but I do like our 80 Year Anniversary Jerseys even better than our current ones. Even with the feaux leather helmet.

They're OK for a special occasion I guess...

I feel a team's identity is an important thing, the colours can command a sense of history and respect, not from the opposition always but from the players that put on that uniform and represent the team.

For me teams like the Steelers and the Raiders for example, have a solid identity recognisable by any football fan anywhere. You associate their colous with the 'Steel Curtain' in Pittsburghs case and I as a fan respond to that in some way.

Newer teams or teams that have changed uniforms lack that. The Jaguars as a new team or the Bucs who have changed identity, their uniforms are lifeless and dull to me, they conjure up nothing in my mind (other than mediocre football).

We had a great identity with the White/Burgundy kit because (a) we won three Superbowls in it and (b) in the Gibbs era we wore that uniform 90% of the time we played.

Now I don't feel that sense of history for the team so much with the different mixes they use. That was why I started the thread, I thought a lot of people would feel the same, obviously not!

Ultimately it doesn't matter, as long as they're moving forward and are winning again soon, its just a preference thing I guess.

I'll stop ranting like an old man and get back to the booze, its a holiday weekend over here so why not!??!?!

Burgundy and Gold at home, White and Burgundy on the road.

In games where we play teams with some yellow coloration (Steelers/Packers), don't wear gold pants in any case. I'd also say considering bringing out white/gold if on road against brown/dark red teams like the Browns and Buccaneers.

I like contrast.

Yes, they are recognizable, but it doesn't make tham good unis. They stink! Just like the stupid, boring pin stripes the Yankees wear!
