I think a good deal of the RGIII votes are being made based on the inevitability that the skins are going to draft RGIII.

If we had the #1 pick in the NFL draft, I highly doubt there would be as many people voting for RGIII.

Luck is the hands down #1 pick; however, RGIII looks REALLY good also. As people say, it's a win-win -- but if the choice was there and you had to stake your reputation on it, I believe that most would select Luck.

Then take a look at the "I want the Colts to pick ..." thread.

I can't speak for CTrey or any other EARLY RGiii supporters... But having started my pro rgiii anti luck thread on October first I can honestly say since I saw him perform.on.live tv.my.mind was made up. Seeing luck loose to.baylors horrid D, the passes and runs Griffin did- and the combo of passing on the run sold.me. I could care less what offenses they run in college no.matter how "pro" it is it isn't. while I certainly can't say with any founded basis who the.more devoted qb is or who has more.potential to be an elite qb I do believe rgiii has all the tangibles to be that guy. Luck? Maybe him too but the drive to be the tiger woods of.football and set the bar higher then ever at the qb position is what I see in Griffin.. not just because he said so.

So yes my friend first pick in hand I would no doubt choose rgiii over luck barkley Jones or any other NCAA qb- as well as most to all NFL qbs for that matter.

i think that what's happened is that it's been a presumed lock since halfway through the football season that Luck was going to Indy and no one else was going to have any chance to get him. so it's kind of like being in love but the girl gets engaged to someone else. after a while you get over it and you start looking at the "other fish in the sea" and you fall in love again with someone else; someone you can actually have.

i think most of us have sort of "gotten over" Luck because we we were sure we had to, and "fallen for" RGIII, who we were able to legitimately dream about watching play for our team throughout the rest of the season after Luck's destination become a near certainty.

so we would feel strange about losing the one we're in love with now and having to try and reignite the feelings we used to have for that first gal who ended up getting stood up at the altar by that other guy.

BUT, i'm sure we'd get over it VERY quickly once we remembered that Luck is supposedly still the the highest rated QB prospect since Elway.

with EITHER of these guys, we not only could but in fact seem [/i]likely[/i] to end up with a guy who will eventually be one of the best QBs in the league. i can't frickin' WAIT!!! we've earned this, waiting through so many years of lousy QB play!!!

Cosell deems RG3 a “superior arm talent and natural passer” to Luck

NFL Films’ Greg Cosell, perhaps the most prolific game-tape watcher of the sport today, indicated in a recent comparative essay that he doesn’t disagree with Hoge.

Cosell says he watched five tapes of each player. As Hoge also acknowledged, Cosell entered the film sessions with the impression that Luck “was the most NFL-ready quarterback to come out since Peyton Manning.”

By the end of his film work, however, Cosell concluded that Griffin is “a superior arm talent and natural passer” to Luck.

“Luck was not a special passer based on film study,” wrote Cosell. “He is not the same kind of arm talent as Matthew Stafford or Cam Newton. … Luck was an economical player who was at his best as a timing and rhythm, short to intermediate passer.”

Cosell did credit Luck for his masterful ability to call plays and make adjustments at the line of scrimmage, calling it an “essential attribute as [Luck] transitions to the NFL.”

Based strictly on game tape, however, RG3 was the more remarkable quarterback.

What immediately jumped out was his arm strength,” Cosell wrote. “… Griffin, for a power thrower, was consistently accurate. The better term for accuracy is ball location. That’s what allows receivers to run after the catch. Griffin excelled in that area.”

Cosell went on to praise Griffin’s “composure in the pocket” as better than Luck’s, as well as RG3′s ability to throw from different arm angles while maintaining consistent accuracy. Cosell suggested that Griffin, despite playing in Baylor’s spread scheme, was less of a system quarterback than Luck, who was “managed and manipulated by his offense.”

So maybe the Colts do have a decision to make at No. 1 overall.

Or maybe the Redskins are getting the best quarterback in the draft.

Those of you who know of Greg Cosell know that is opinion is well respected around the NFL. How well does Irsay respect Greg Cosell?

All I know is we are sitting pretty. No matter who we get, RGIII or Griffin, each will thrive in this offense.

I wish there wasn't still so much time before the draft. I also hope Irsay is too stubborn or stupid to change his mind.

The buzz about Robert Griffin being chosen ahead of Andrew Luck doesn’t fly with a lot of astute NFL front office men.

It’s common for a player who has been No. 1 for a long time to start getting knocked close to the draft, however, why do a good portion of talent evaluators like Luck more? He has performed at a high level for four years compared to one for RGIII and is further along. He played a pro style offense whereas RGIII played in an unconventional offense. He shows better ball placement. He is better at avoiding pressure in the pocket, working through progressions and finding open men. He is stronger and sturdier.

The argument for RGII is that he has better arm strength and might have a higher ceiling. But many NFL men think Luck remains the surest bet in the draft, and that matters when the player goes No. 1 overall.

I'm not saying you are wrong but ... based on what?

The results in the "I Want the Colts to Pick ..." thread in Around the League have essentially the same ratio of desire for RGIII in DC.

I'm thinking about visiting a Colt board (not trolling) and seeing how they feel.

Ok nice one DM, I see where you first thought of the idea.

I feel people really do want RG3 here because we've never had a player as exciting to watch move on the field. Obviously I'm comparing his excitement to someone like Vick or Cam because of his mobility and arm strength.

Still though, I have zero problems if we get "Lucky".

I went onto 2 different Colt boards/forums (I didn't post anything, just read) and basically 90-100% want Luck. A number/the majority of Indy eposters criticize anyone in the media that even compares RGIII to Luck.

That was one of the major reasons behind my theory that members of the THN are selecting RGIII because of the inevitability of him coming to DC.

There is a truth here. One of the members (unfortunatly, I can't remember whom... but I'd love to give credit) made an analogy to having a huge crush on a fine, fine, lady... but, as time goes on, it becomes clear, it's not to be... then that sort-of cute chick starts to come of age, and really looks pretty darned fine now... and is intelligent, and funny, and bright, and is interested in YOU!... well, you start to invest, and it's a really good thing... so, at some point, she becomes your preferred partner... and, you can't lose..

That's when SkinsJock becomes stiff for Griff.

I'm done now. O:)

The Rook scale pretty much makes this an obsolete game, doesn't it? Other than the length of contract... what's the point?

Just saying guys. I have already fallen in love with RG3 like most of us have. Just be prepared if we happen to get Luck instead. This is the latest I have read from Irsay. Luck is a fantastic player as well. In fact they pretty much had equal success this past season. There stats are nearly identical.

That's a pretty hallow article.
I hate that we aren't in control of this, but I'm sure whom ever lands to us will help this team for.years to come.
That said, not only do I hope we get RGiii but I'm confident the Colts want Luck just as bad. Reports like that are just.meant to stir.the pot imo. For if nothing.more but to mess with former AFC head coach, our Mr shanny.. they cut ties with manning to bring in luck and the pro days/combine weren't enough to make them reconsider either guy... I hope at least

The thing is, the Colts are in such sorry shape right now... I suspect both would prefer to play here... the Colts only offer #1 pick money... and a team that's much farther away from good than the skins...
