for what it's worth ....

Just heard on ESPN980 that the Patriots passed on Landry because his achilles injury did not look very good

I don't know. I didn't think those Landry retweets were especially bad. They were from fans saying "we wish the Redskins had kept Landry". Not that big a deal IMO.

I read that thing about the Patriots passing on Landry too. They said specifically that his medical exam was "iffy".

We weren't stupid for letting him go. But, we are stupid for letting him go when all he got was a 1 year $4M deal.

That's just ridiculously cheap for a potential All Pro caliber player. WTF

Ummm... the league sabotaged our cap. Keeping Laron became a luxury. We could not afford to keep him when we are struggling to find a way to keep Fletch. That's not cheap... that's reality. It is not at all a given that Laron will be productive this year.

This was not a cap decision. We signed Brandon Merriweather to a 2 year $6M deal in the same week. This move was either based more on Laron's attitude or his health because the market for him wasn't cost prohibitive.

We will see what he produces this year. Quite frankly, I don't care because he's gone. I only hope Merriweather plays up to his capabilities because the 3-4 defense is predicated on having a playmaking Safety.

Hogstyer, that only works if we only need to replace 1 safety... We have yet to replace one of the two open positions...

And, why would you waste precious cap space on a player whom you don't expect tol last the season? It is, of course, moot... but the decision was NOT stupid, even in light of the price to sign in NY... Not a risk the team could afford this year.

Of course it was a cap decision. If we sign Laron to 4 large to sit on the bench we still need to sign someone to play. We can't afford both.

I know what you're saying, but did we have the option though to sign him for what the Jets did? That's a question not a statement, I don't know.

Maybe LL was one of the guys Carlos Rogers was talking about:

“People say I wasn’t happy,” he said. “It’s just because I spoke out. But it was the truth. It was the truth. And I’m gone. So what is it now? It’s still stuff going on. I know the guys on the team, so many guys is ready to leave. So many guys.”

Doesn't sound like Fletch was one of them.

Rocky was probably one of them. And what does Rocky have in common with LL and Carlos? Not performing on the field or in LL's case not being on the field. :)

Probably a good indicator/correlation.

I am dissapointed Landry is no longer a Redskin. At the same time I do understand how and why it happened. For some reason there is always a little sentiment when a good player leaves for me at least. I do think the secondary needs a couple players to fill the void. All though Landry had his flaws he was still solid and any moment could have become the best saftey in the league. I just say I wish him the best. I dont always wish players who leave the best. Especially if they stunk it up.
