If I were Dan Snyder, I'd have a little conference with Mike and Bruce, and this is what I would say ...

Gentlemen, I know the road has been a little more difficult than any of us may have anticipated, and even though our record this year was worse than last year ... I do think we have made progress, and upgraded the team with good talent, and are real close to being a good football team. And I'm sure we are all in agreement that our most pressing need is to solidify the most important roster spot ... the QB position. That's been the most elusive task that has thus far eluded you two, and the primary reason for our seeming lack of tangible success.

Now we don't need to rehash what has already happened with McNabb, Grossman and Beck. You made decisions and you ran with them, win, lose or draw. Sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes the bar eats you. And I made a commitment to you both not interfere with your football decisions. So here's the deal .... I'm not going to tell you who to draft or what FA to sign to improve our QB situation. That's your job and what I'm paying you lots of money to do. And since we are in unanimous agreement that our number one priority is getting this QB problem solved ... I expect you two to figure this thing out. And I don't care what you have to do to do it ... if you need to trade some picks to get the best available QB in the draft ... do it. IF you think there is a free agent that will fix the problem, go get him. If you think there is a sleeper that we can snatch up cheap, that's your call. Just know this up front. This next QB chosen has to be successful. No more misses. Because, if a player that we could have gotten goes to another team and is extremely successful ... and we wind up in the same boat this time next year .... we won't be having this same conversation, and both of you can consider your contracts to be 3 year deals that won't be renewed.

(this is precisely what Jack Kent Cooke would have said to Bobby Beathard and Joe Gibbs ... because that's pretty much what he did say to them regarding Joe Theisman, who Gibbs didn't want, and Beathard did).

Great article about RGIII his stats being amazing for starters. The Skins can't pass on this kid.. I'm starting to hope the colts stick w Luck and don't take RG!

i wouldn't be sold on RG there will be plenty of qb's to go around in this years draft..if we get him the great and he wants to be here then thats great too. so this draft will be deep on qb's so wait and see.if we get RG then i will take that too but use your draft pick wisely cause this franchises future depends on it..

Mods feel free to delete or move this but with the Flynn and 2nd tier threads the first round prediction etc etc I feel like Robert Griffin the third deserves his own. Here. The main reason -aside from fans Like myself that will go completely ape "poop" on draft day if he is selected no matter what the price- being I don't want to pollute other threads that he becomes the topic of debate in w links hopes stats etc etc etc.

Kids stats are ridiculous and utterly amazing. His career tds vs ints is amazing -less picks then grossy had THIS year alone! (don't quote me maybe add thé little he played last year) The more I read the more excited I get and hopeful we don't chicken out and pass on the chance to get this franchise qb that will probably make history one day. His off field smarts, charisma, passion, drive, and understanding of what he wants to do... Is just as remarkable as his collegiate career.

Some eye candy- words from the top qb prospect rgiii not him in a skins uniform lol.. Yes TOP. His numbers poop on lucks and.. Well just read it.

Do any of those guys look half as good as RGIII did before declaring? His accuracy kills most any prospect qb.. In that link I posted I believe there's a quote saying he's more comparable to a vick meets Brady vs a cam Newton. He is a throw first qb that has killer accuracy even on the run.

To me he is a better investment then Luck w the way the game is evolving. Just my humble opinion

He is all that. My daughter goes to Baylor and I've seen 90% of his games the last 2 years. I've seen him twice in person against U of Buffalo and Mizzou. I knew he was something special and unique right away. It's official now he's leaving for the NFL. Wait until he blows the stats away at the combine. Indy may have to reconsider. He has so many tools at his disposal...

we can win AND be competitive without getting a future great right now - we will have a future great QB soon

we will have better play from the QB position this season = Mike understands that better than anyone here

I say go get him. The big question is will we have to move all the way up to # 2 to get him. I don't think St.Louis will be drafting him, for obvious resasons, they have Bradord. If they get no other offers, they will have to go elsewhere. We will most likely have to leap-frog CLE and jump into the # 3 pick, but the drop off in what we would have to give up is huge between the 2nd & 3rd pick. #2 pick probably cost us 2 1's, a 2 and a 4. 3rd pick probably cost us just 2 1's.

Its a gamble not going in and getting the number two spot.. Any team who wants him could give st Louis picks and or players and wed be looking pretty dumb @ #3.
Of course we could always sign someone they would want in FA or trade someone we have as to save some picks. That's a tough thought. I hate to think my boy Cooooooley could be in that discussion. Big Fred and Logan as 1 & 2 wouldn't be hard for this staff to run with that's for sure

Summary: Griffin was the most dangerous playmaker in college football in 2011. He did the most with the least and led his team to wins against programs the school could never compete with in past years. Despite a horrible defense and suspect offensive line, Griffin lit up scoreboards on a weekly basis. Griffin completed 72 percent of his passes for 4,293 yards with 37 touchdowns and six interceptions in 2011. He has also rushed for 699 yards and 10 touchdowns. Griffin won the Heisman Trophy for his dominant season.

Over his collegiate years, Griffin has been a consistent performer who has shown steady improvement. In 2008, Griffin started playing as a freshman. He completed 59 percent of his passes for 2,091 yards with 15 touchdowns and three interceptions. That season he ran for 1,118 yards and 13 touchdowns. He lost almost all of the 2009 season to injury. The year after, he had a completion percentage of 67 percent for 3,501 yards and 22 touchdowns with eight interceptions. He ran for 808 yards and eight scores.

Griffin has a strong arm, and his accuracy on throws deep downfield is truly remarkable. To all levels of the field, Griffin is extremely accurate throwing the ball. He can fire ropes on deep outs, all while making good decisions in the process.

Griffin is a fantastic athlete with speed to burn. He is a track competitor; when he breaks into the open field, he rips off yards in an instant. This season, Griffin also showed the grit to take some big hits and stay in the game.

Griffin is also a high-character individual who is very intelligent. He has the makings of a franchise quarterback on and off the field. Griffin has the toughness to be successful, but will have to be developed some at the NFL level, and learn how to operate a pro style offense. There isn't a competitor with Griffin to be the second quarterback behind Andrew Luck.

Player Comparison: Steve McNair. Griffin's foot speed and running ability is similar to Eagles' quarterback Michael Vick, but Griffin is a much better passer than Vick, and that makes the comparison closer to McNair. Over a long NFL career, McNair was an accurate pocket passer who could make big plays with feet. Griffin has the same skill set where he can sit in the pocket and beat teams with his arm, or he can take off and make a splash play on the ground. Like McNair, Griffin is 6-foot-2 and has enough height to play the position. McNair was taken with the third-overall pick and Griffin is likely to go in the top five of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Projecting Griffin to the pros, however, I see a player with the ability to be a player like McNair.

NFL Matches: Indianapolis, Cleveland, Washington, Miami

The Colts could decide that they like Griffin more than Luck, but that seems extremely remote. After the Colts, the next quarterback-needy team is the Cleveland Browns. It seems unlikely that Griffin will get past the fourth pick. He very easily could go second or third if the Redskins or Dolphins trade up in order to land the Heisman winner.

You better believe it .... somebody is going to go after that #2 pick, and nobody really knows who Indy will take when the clock starts ... they could take Luck or RG3, so, with several other teams needing a QB - Hawks, Browns, Jets, Dolphins, Cardinals, Vikings, Chiefs ... none of these teams have the position totally settled, though some are unlikely to trade up to take the 2nd QB. Certainly Seattle is possible ... the Browns ... and the Jets !! There is a lot of grumbling in the locker room over Sanchez ... and we know how impatient NY fans are .. and how aggressive and unpredictable Rex Ryan is.

For a couple of One's ? I wouldn't rule out anyone .... any more that 2 #1's and that field might narrow some ... but you just can't expect that someone won't leapfrog you into the #2 position and snatch that 1 remaining top 10 QB, because there is no one else there that justifies a high #1 pick.

My gut instinct is he will be better than all on that list.

Randall was a very good runner, but not very accurate.
Vick is the best of the group, Great runner, not very accurate (his accuracy is improving)
DMac, scatter armed. Good runner, extremely erratic passer.
D Williams. Seriously, one 1/4, no matter how great, doesn't make you a good QB.
Batch. Not even worth a comment.

Maybe I am just dreaming but a friend of mine through work, who happened to be a QB for VA Tech; tells me RG3 is the real thing and should be better than Luck in the long run.

If you get a guy like him who will revolutionize the QB position, you can only set yourself up with something that will take time for opposing defenses to game plan.

I see lots of wins with this scenario.

IF we get lot's of wins in the next 10 years and we have RGIII as the QB - MOST of those wins will NOT be due to RGIII

players (and coaches) playing together as a team with desire and attitude do more to determine the outcome of a game
1 great QB doesn't guarantee "a lot of wins" - a good team wins games because they prepare, practice and play together

The media called Cam a bust before he was even drafted. They said he wasn't worth that high of a pick. He wouldn't make it in the NFL.


He brutalized the NFL almost single-highhandedly and eclipsed Peytons record...

If Cleveland wants RG3 there is nothing we can do about it. They have the #4 spot and the #22 (or is it 23), but whatever, they have way more ammo than we do. So if they really want him they will get him.

The Rams could trades with the Browns get any plater they want (probably Blackmon and get another pick in this year's draft. I don't think the Browns will do it though. They have a serviceable QB and a ton of needs! I doubt they will draft up and my guy says its only about 50/50 if they will take him if he is there.

Either way if im the Skins I don't trade up any higher than #3. There just isn't any reason too. Seatle and Miami don't have the juice to get to #2. The Jags could, but won't after spending a first AND a second on Gabbert last year. However the interesting spot for is to trade up to would be #4. The Brown decide they are going to pass on RG3 and offer us the pick knowing they can get the player they want at #6. We move to #4 to protect teams from leap frogging us to #4 or #5. The Browns pick up our third this year in addition to our #6.

Sorry... I just don't see the Browns "passing" on RGIII. McCoy MAY turn into a franchise Quarterback, but that's pretty iffy... If Griffin is there at 4, they take him.
