So, RiC, you've got me beat by a game; it's 3-1 vs. 2-2. Care to Hognosticate the final four? I say:

France (38 total points in the game)
NZ (32 total points in the game)

I'd love for it to be the All Blacks playing France

they will consider stopping the game at half time

Please, who are you trying to kid, Frenchie?

I agree with the picks.

France and NZ

BUT I will hognosticate different total scores for each. I will take the over by one point: 39 and 33

:-)

I'd love for the All Blacks to play France - they'd be sky high about that down under

BUT .... I'm thinking Wales vrs the Wallabies in the final

The Wallabies are finally going to break the jinx at Eden Park

Just finished watching the Frenchies win the game against Wales, 9-8

I cannot believe the level of rugby is that different between the two hemispheres - the Welsh should have won this game but neither of these sides could beat a Super 14 team from Australia, New Zealand or South Africa

Looks like NBC is giving the semis and the final for N/C

The All Blacks or Wallabies will crush the French - that is not a very good rugby team AT ALL

I was going to ask about that. When is it on, and is it standard NBC or some sub-channel on satellite?

Wow, ugly game. The French would never have beaten England had they played like that last week.

From all appearances, tomorrow's game is the real championship. I can't imagine France having a chance against either team at this point.

I do not know what French team will show up. Regardless, they will lose, the only question is by how much.

Good France ...

Bad France ...

Good Rex ... oh, never mind.

NZ 38 total points

The games were on an NBC channel - USN

the RWC final game is going to be on NBC

The French team is now ranked 3rd -

http://www.espnscrum.com/2011-rugby-wor ... 52526.html

that will change dramatically - the All Blacks are going to make a mockery of these guys

if this was an NFL game the winning team would stop scoring when the game was out of reach of the loser

this is NOT the NFL and the All Blacks will score a lot of points

New Zealand - 60 points

I'll go "over" on your bet, RiC. (Of course, I'll pick NZ too.) Anything 39 and above will have me riding through the streets on my white horse of victory.

What are the Hognostication rules in a case like this one where we've both picked NZ? Let's say France wins ( . . . . OK, OK, I'm serious now) . . . do we still go to the points tie-breaker or do we each just get 0 points for the round?

Btw, by my count, it's now 4-2 Irn-Bru to 3-3 RiC. After a first-day choke my Hognostications rallied and I'm in the lead by one. If you win the championship we'll be tied, so care to make the runner-up game our conditional tie-breaker? The winner of that Hognostication only gets his point if you win the final and we're tied at 4-3.

If you agree, I'll kick it off: Australia will win, with 42 total points scored in the match.

Next time around, we should get a proper Hognostications tourny going. Maybe by then we'll have even more rugby fans on the board. :)

Really? I thought I was ahead by one. Let me check ...

Mmmmmm ...

Wales
France
South Africa
New Zealand

France and NZ

BUT I will hognosticate different total scores for each. I will take the over by one point: 39 and 33

RiC 5 - 1

May I say that I was only two points away in the SA v. Aus game from calling a "perfecto"?

Ireland
England
Australia
New Zealand

France (38 total points in the game)
NZ (32 total points in the game)

Irn-Bru 4 - 2

So, no contest. We both pick NZ to win. I am still ahead by one game. You do NEED an impossible upset call.

So, you get the tie breaker IF there was a tie. BUT, as it stands, there is no tie possible. I win on games but I concede that if it had come to a tie you would have called the points much better than I did.

I stand by my NZ call with a total of 38 points.

I am assuming that good-France shows up, of course.

Ah, I miscalculated. Then why the hell did we do over/under scores for the semi-finals?

Because you were supposed to pick France this week.

The All Blacks are going to show the world how far ahead they (& the Tri Nations teams) are

Even if France plays it's best game & I really hope they do - they will not be within 3 tries (21 points)

the All Blacks will score about 4 - 5 tries - w/about 4 -5 penalties & this without the best rugby player in the world
France may score 10 - 12 points, if they're lucky

Wales 18-21 Australia

Closer than I thought. Hard fought game and well earned bronze medal for Australia. Wales played with a lot of heart, the missed kicks sunk them.

They should have.

Few would have argued against this prediction but NZ almost CHOKED.

The last part was right. France scored 7 but NZ beat them by ONE point.

So much for maligned France. Good-France showed up for sure.

RiC - France played VERY well and the All Blacks very easily could have lost this game - just amazing

France were kind of unlucky to lose and the All Blacks did not play well
IMO the All Blacks really missed Carter

NO EXCUSES - France showed up - WELL DONE

Great Rugby World Championship. Congrats NZ for a great show on and off the field.
