Brown's guaranteed money is slightly more than 8 million, according to a league source

I'm guessing Jammal picked the Skins as somebody mentioned above he loves the city, his teammates, and the fans plus he really does believe in what Shanny is doing. He didn't pick the bears and the Cards because they have easily the worst Olines in the NFL especially the Bears now that Kruetz is gone. As much as I hated Fat Al remember that play where he pushed the Bears G 5 yards back into Cutler and the G pretty much sacked him? Ya gotta admit that was pretty cool

I agree. Chicago's front office is historically CHEEP AS HELL. And Arizona hasn't had a good line since they were in St Louis. They simply don't care to pay any OL.

Ahh...The Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc argument that always comes up. The problem is the Denver Broncos never won a Super Bowl without Mike Shanahan (0-4 before Mike and 2-0 with Mike). Mike Shanahan never won a Super Bowl as a head coach without John Mobley. It was linebacker John Mobley who batted the ball down with seconds remaining to give the Broncos their first Super Bowl win over the Packers. The Packers would surely have scored and won the game because three of Denver's defensive starters got knocked out of the game the previous play.
I can also equally say John Elway and the Denver Broncos never won a Super Bowl without Terrel Davis. Just pick a name and it would be true because the argument relies upon a false premise. Taken to its illogical extreme , the Denver Broncos can never again win a Super Bowl unless Mike Shanhan is the coach even if they had the best NFL player at every position.

We had people saying that last year (maybe you were one of them?). To me the only thing your guarantee "guarantees" is that you won't be around come December when we've done much better than you could have imagined.
Like I said in another thread. We've heard it all before, brother. Wake me up when there's a negative rant that's actually interesting or even accurate, and maybe then I'll take notice.
Till then, I'll be watching Shanahan work his plan. Hint: if you don't realize that's what he's doing, then you're missing it. We've had nonplans before, and this isn't Spurrier or Zorn.

I realize what Shanahan is doing we are tanking the season the next amazing QB Andrew Luck and I completely behind it! Last year I predicted us to win under 7 games and I was correct.

That was easy. What move would you have made that they didn't make already?

There aren't any moves I would have make. Chester blows and Bowen was way overpaid and will under perform. We should be doing everything in our power to ensure we land the #1 pick. Signing Stallworth made no sense either. He has 20 catches total over the last 2 seasons.

Maybe those crappy signings are to help ensure that we land the #1 pick? The only good signing we made is Josh Wilson.

You can't rate an signing until the end of the season. Only because you don't know how a person is going to be used or if they'll even be here. You also have to look at the guaranteed money. We got most guys on the cheap.

Chester and Bowen will both start. Chester sucks and so does Bowen you will see. I agree about the guaranteed money. It will be interesting to see how Barry Cofield performs as the NT when he was playing DE in the 4-3. He hasn't played NT since college. Also if he reports to camp around 310-315 LBS he is slightly light for a NT.

Cofield hasn't been playing DE, he had been playing DT for the Giants. Someone even found him listed as a NT. Since he played over Center like a NT I can se why he would be listed as such.

Ouch, about three or four mistakes in that post. You should probably quit while you're still (relatively) ahead.

I find this quote at the bottom to be worrisome:
The Redskins' starting unit projects to feature Williams at left tackle, Kory Lichtensteiger at left guard, Will Montgomery at center, Chester at right guard and Brown at right tackle.
Worst part is, it's probably true. The offensive lineman market is drying up. If we go into the season with that offensive line the tackles will be alright, but the interior line will be just as bad as it's always been the last few years. I'm getting pretty worried about our offense with that line in place.

RedskinsRule56 wrote:Rotoworld is right, why would anyone want to sign with this franchise? Money talks and Snyder is notorious for overpaying guys. Why wouldnt Brown want to go a playoff team such as Chicago or KC who were after him?

I don't know if it's obvious to a lot of fans here but ...
Snyder is NOT a part of the decisions here regarding the players - he is still the owner and (so far) is supporting this FO and the decisions they make
This FO has made some mistakes but they have certainly done VERY WELL recently by not operating anywhere close to the same manner that Cerrato & Snyder did
we are still in transition and the FO IMO has done very well in handling that process

I'd like to sign one more interior lineman as well, but I don't think this line is a disaster. Williams isn't as green, Jamaal's injury wasn't one you come back full strength the next year and he should be back up to speed this year. Chester's an upgrade. I don't think an aging vets going to be much of an upgrade. Unless we get a quality interior lineman who's not too old I say we stay with this for this year.

You have to remember that this was one of the worst FA line classes in recent history. Not to mention most of the guys stayed with their old team. It is what it is. You can't just go out and sign a guy to sign a guy. That's what we did before and it didn't work. Let's sign a guy who's the right guy for the system.

+1
People brag about the 1982 Hogs but let's see how they were built.
Only Mark May was a considered a stud coming out of college
The rest were coached up and fit the system
They were all young except Starke so almost all of them were around for years to come.
LT Joe Jacoby 23 yrs old UDFA
LG Russ Grimm 23 yrs old / 3rd / 69th pick / 1981
C Jeff Bostic 24 yrs old UDFA
RG Mark May 23 yrs old/ 1st / 20th pick / 1981
RT George Starke 34 yrs old / 11th / 272nd pick / 1971
You don't have to go out and get the best linemen. You have to get guys who fit the scheme, can be coached, Buy into the scheme and work hard together. No Me Players! Ithelps for them to be young so they can be there for the future.

Monty will be a upgrade over Casey, Chester will be a upgrade over Hicks which will make the interior of the line better. Kory needs to improve or be replced, not many starting lineman left on the market but they should keep looking for help. The fact of the matter is they can't get any worst than what they had last year.

Watch Kory through out this video
Watch Kory Lichtenstieger on each play. He gets to the second level and he finds someone to hit. If he loses contact with his man, he doesn't quit and reengages. His legs keep driving and they don't stop. He knows how turn his baody and seall off the defender. The guy plays get technique. If he we bigger he would be a stud, but then again, he would never have been cut buy the Broncos. There was one play early on the tape where he doesn't hit anyone on a screen, but if you look closely you will see Will Montgomery didn't either. Playing that over and over, it is clear that Torain didn't follow the wall that he had. He turned it up field.
Not saying that this vidoe proves that Lichtenstieger is so good. It doesn't show him in pass protection, but it does show that the guy can play and because of his motor, he will be even better this year.

Frank,
Come on you're better than recycling crap from JLC or EB from the Junkies. JLC made that statement when it looked like the Nfl would be under the 2010 rules. If that had greg the car then you could make that statement.
There is no way this class is worse than last year! I fact a lot of people said that this class of FA would be one of the best ever.
Almost half the league was either a FA or ended up getting cut for cap reasons. There is no way that making a statement like the worst ever is just a very poor choice of adjectives and WAY off the mark.

Kory is not in bad of shape as some of you WANT to believe.
In this video there are a few shots of Kory's pass protection. Watch the very first play of the video. Montgomery gets shoved in the backfield but stays in front of his man allowing Torain to stop the push Probably why Kory stays at Guard. Kory holds his own. On every pass play Kory holds his own. On

ey's 5 yd TD, the D lineman gets by Kory but Kory holds him off just enough to allow Grossman to get the Td.
All the pressure on Grossman, in this clip, comes from the edges.

Our O line is not in bad of shape as some of you WANT to believe.
Watch the first play of this video. Kory has his man. Trent is looking to take on Osi, but Osi loops and forces Rex to throw early and Cofield knocks it down because Montgomery has given too much ground into the backfield. Note Rabach is free and moves to help Kory but leaves a huge gap for Osi to come in free - somebody screwed up.
On Osi's first sack/fumble, I thought this was the O line -
NOT THE O LINE's FAULT. Cooley was supposed to block Osi. Keiland steps up and gets the blitz.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jugw7ZjyMLs
In this game, the O line got pushed back a lot on pass plays but for the most part they stayed in front of their guys giving Grossman time to hit his receivers. We all know the Grossman fumbles and INT were crucial. Overall the play of the O line was one of their best of the season. ONLY ONE SACK given up by the O line. The other was on

ey. Check out the stats.
