They still don't impress me as signings. It's been getting very tough for me to continue following this team over the last two years.
Yeah, we should go after the big fish, because look how well that's worked out for us. I mean seriously...we got Haynesworth! That's been fantastic for us!

^ Yup. Say what you want about Belichick, this man knows how to extend the value of a player, and you can bet, he has a plan to do that with this clown.

I'd rather see this team build the Right way (big names) and Lose than to build like it appears we are trying to and Win.

I don't think the physical will be the issue.... Now the Conditioning Test might be another thing alltogether. Beliscum is even more anal about that little drill than even Shannahan showed last year.
One of my co-workers was hearing unconfirmed reports at lunchtime that the Pats MIGHT be looking to trade Fat Albert to Philadelphia. Now THAT would be the absolute worst thing that could possibly happen.

First, building a team the way you suggest isn't the right way and only proves your depth of football knowledge.
Second, that mentality is exactly what is wrong with a lot of people today. They are more concerned about looking good than performing well. That is the most idiotic rational to have. It is much better to look bad winning than to look good losing.
I know you hate the salary cap and think that post salary cap football is horrible, but everyone is playing by the same rules and you can build really great teams in this age but you need to go about it the right way. And that way is exactly the opposite of what you want to see done.
You know that is fine that you feel that way. There were plenty of people that didn't want to give up their horses for cars and many Naval Captains thought iron clad steam ships would never replace wooden sailing warships. They all had the right to feel the way they did but eventually things change and you have to move on.
So my advice to you is, move on.

I totally disagree. Realizing that I live in the middle of Patriots Nation... the team that has made a name for itself the last decade plus looking bad while winning. It's DISGUSTING to even consider the idea of giving up on what is RIGHT in order to Win. It's a Philosophical issue much more than a physical one.

How can you build really great teams when you can't even affor to pay a full slate of 24 QUALITY STARTERS under this Godforsaken salary cap? In order to succeed in this league right now you have to be a friggin mathemetician more than a Head Coach or General Manager. It isn't about FOOTBALL anymore. It's about accounting and salary cap management.

Have you ever seen the movie "The Last Samauri" with Tom Cruise? If not, go out and rent it sometime. It's a decent movie and it shows my point perfectly. Sometimes the NEW is NOT the better. Especially when one is dealing with Philosophy. Some of us would rather die or fail doing things the old way rather than succeeding the new way.

So your advice is to simply disregard what I believe in. Nice to know that your values and principles are carved in mashed potatoes; but for some of us that is not the case.

No my advice isn't to disregard what you believe in, because I certainly won't, but what I'm saying is you should realize that this is a game and a business. A such it has certain rules and as the rules change you have change with them to stay competitive. It isn't an honor code or a moral code violation to adapt to new rules of a game. It is unwise to try to build a team the wrong way (the way you suggest).
I wouldn't want you to change a belief or a moral code, but what you should do is wake up and realize the game has changed an adapt to the new rules.
I would agree with you of there wasn't a salary cap but owners just conspired to keep the wages down and didn't field a good product just because they didn't want to. There are still some of those team's out there, but the rules have changed and team's need to adapt to them.
And apparently so do some fans.
By the way, yes I have seen the Last Samurai and it really doesn't apply here at all. Also, the Patriots almost neve win ugly. Usually they win the way you should win. Great coaching, a great QB, and players that fit their system. And if they have a great player that doesn't fit their system they tweek the system to fit the player our they get rid of the player.

Um, Fat Al did do whatever he wanted. Nothing that Shanny did had any impact on getting Big Al to do what the team wanted. I can guarantee you that Belichick will get way more out of Big Al than Shanahan was able to. I also think that things would have turned out a lot better here if Shanny hadn't gone through that whole public "conditioning test" debacle. After that there was absolutely zero chance of their being even a decent relationship between Shanny and Haynesworth. Big Al is a selfish idiot, no doubt about it. But I can pretty much guarantee that Belichick will handle him in a private, non public matter, and figure out a way to get some value and production out of him.

How could MS have cut him a year and a half ago

February of 2010, almost 18 months ago, when Al and Shannahan had their first disagreement... Haynesworth should have been GONE as quickly as the paperwork could be sent to the league.

They didn't have any disagreements in Feb. 2010, Fat boy was on his Ps and Qs until April waiting on that Big Check.

Well at least we can finally say its over and move on.
Bellicheck will not use him as a NT. They have arguably the best NT in the game already. Richard Seymour in his prime could have filled in nicely as a NT if they had to. He did on occasion. So I suspect Bellicheck will use Haynesworth as he did Seymour.
Thing that sucks most is why couldnt Haynesworth give us his all? Freakin A man! All the money we gave this guy and he just up and walks away like the Redskins didnt give him a thing.
Just this teams luck as of lately he is gonna help a perrenial SuperBowl contender get better.
My hope is we avenge the massacare at the hands of the Patriots in due time. In due time.

My understanding what that they clashed the first time they met, in Mike's office, just a couple days after he was announced as the Head Coach. The issue being Haslett's 3-4 defense and Al's disinterest in having anything to do with it.
Assuming you're right then the only thing that changes in my opinion is the timeframe... 15 months ago that he should have been shown the door rather than 18 months.

I do not believe that the fat slob is that talented that he can just turn it on when he wants to
this is going to be fun to watch because fat boy cannot deliver the goods anymore

Agreed. I think he'll do better there, but only because so much less will be expected of him. Lower the bar far enough and he'll clear it. But fat butt's best days are behind him.

Dude still sacked a qb last year with another human beings body.

There is no way this slob can help a defense and play at anywhere near the level he used to
I would be VERY surprised if Bill keeps him for very long when he determines how many plays the fat slob can be in on
