Shanahan drafted Maurice Claurett in the third round and signed Larry Johnson last offseason, and both of those guys have more greater character issues than Young.
Larry Johnson was brought in with a snowball's chance to make it, there was zero gamble. I don't think that's the same sitaution as bringing in Young. He's going to want money.
And? Young has a pretty pathetic hand, at the moment. His name is trash. He in not in a position to demand much. He is in a similar situation to the one Mike Vick found himself in... take a deal with lots of contingencies, escape options for the team, and cash incentives for Young... and prove he's not just a walking temper tantrum...
If Shanahan/Allen are considering him, they will get to set the terms... not Young... if Vince doesn't like it, he can go find another team... but, unless he's dealing with a GM who is an idiot, he's going to find the same thing pretty much wherever he goes... Cerrato isn't in the business any more.
The risks are actually pretty low, with the primary expense being to other possible Quarterback options... the contract gets structured in a way that, if the player misbehaves, he's gone, with minimal cost.
But, even with Shanahan's propensity for taking on players with behavioral issues, I still don't see it. I think they are going to focus on the foundation this year. I don't see Young in the picture. He would be a distraction from the work that needs to happen.
He does have mental and maturity issues, but I don't see him in the same situation as Larry Johnson, b/c he has to potential (and the youth)to turn around. Larry Johnson was run into the ground and was in decline.

The National Anthem sucks.
What a useless piece of propagandist rhetoric that is.
remember this is a guy that asked to be taken out of a playoff game that they were winning at the time (ended up losing). started pouting week 1 b/c he got booed and refused to go in before being made to go in and getting injured. had a blowout that night and skipped the MRI. while he was sitting the bench had an interview where he said he wanted to be int he HoF and the next black QB to win a SB. gets his starting job back b/c the owner forces it (at which time he say something about being an elite QB) then gets hurt the next year and doesn't even try to practice or start even though it was a mild ankle sprain and he had the bye week... then is forced in b/c other QBs are injured and looks perfectly healthy. then has another blowout when he's hurt and can't go in. throws his pads into the stands and walks out on the team after yelling at the HC
and on top of that has an interview where he says "can't nobody teach me nothing." after 5 yrs he still can't make the right line calls. even after the coaches make it known that they want him to come in on monday to watch film (normal day off but most QBs come in) he rarely shows up. he's not a hard worker but already thinks he's elite.
they have to drastically simplify the reads and offense for him too b/c he's dumb as a box of rocks. they've got CJ and teams are stacking the line against him... average QBs should be able to take advantage of that... we just didn't have any average QBs. We had VY and an ancient KC
yeah. his problems are all the mental side of things and the emotional side. he's emotionally fragile and mentally handicapped (the 6 on the wonderlic was well deserved) and isn't a hard workerthey even drastically simplified his college offense b/c he couldn't get it. ended up running that 1 read and go stuff. simplier stuff than Cam ran.. VY was just better at it.

I do not want that guy on my team. Why as fans are we even talking about it? Thanks Vet for showing me how fans see him.
