I say if you have negative things to say about the Redskins it shows you're a realist, you care enough about your team that you're sick of the losing and you want them to get better, and you can see. The endless candy-coating is pointless....

Speaking in absolutes and generalities doesn't make your point more valid. Consistently making negative statements about the Redskins simply means that you consistently make negative statements about the Redskins. How that makes you a realist can only be devined in your mind...

If that's your vision of how to follow a bottom tier team as a fan, well, knock yourself out, bro. But, don't be surprised when more optimistic fans, whom also consider themselves realists, take shots at your absolutes. Candy coating? Whatever. As long as we are losing, given the choice of a little candy, versus perpetual bitter... I'll take the former. I take it that you like bitter... hey, your loss, not mine.

You've seen my posts over the past few weeks... I'm not happy with the way the Shanahans have handled the McNabb affair... I wasn't happy that they appeared to be tossing any shot at beating the Pukes... well... I was wrong on the latter... that's not a bad thing, is it? I'm thrilled with the performance of some of the players that they are looking at... and (OBTW) winning with. Candy coating? Maybe... but can you honestly tell me that you don't feel a little better about the possibility of losing MacIntosh next year after watching Riley play?

I hate losing, too... but, that doesn't prevent me from finding silver in the clouds. As long as there are Ryan Torrains and Rob Jacksons, I'll take the nuggets that come along. I don't have to like Mike Shanahan, the man, in order to enjoy the progress he is making... it's there.

I'm sorry that you can't find a way to share it.

Nothing wrong with that. The problem comes when either side tries to "Prove" their viewpoint is correct and the other is wrong. Nobody's opinion is going to be changed, so why do people continue to waste their time trying to change the viewpoints of those of us pessimists (and likewise the othe way around)?

Giving me vinegar and trying to tell me it's soda pop doesn't go over real well. If all you've got to drink is vinegar, tell me that's what you're gonna give me and I'll make a decision on whether I want to drink it or not. Just don't stick it in a Coke can and try to sell it to me as Coca-Cola. I don't think any of us like the bitter, but we'd prefer to at least be honest in what it is we're drinking.

For some of us that Silver Lining never really exists, CT. For someone like me who believes that the WIN is simply the baseline standard and that HOW it's done determines whether it's a Mediocre or Great thing, losing can never really come with any positives.

You might want to google this phrase, "definition message board". If you don't want to exchange ideas, why are you here? One actual serious answer to your question would be no minds will be changed, but it'd be more fun if we had more of the debate on that in smack, an invitation the neggies keep passing on. It's more fun to support your team then bash it and it's more fun to exchange some overt insults rather then veiled ones. Fun's just not their thing, is it?

I'm pretty sure you're right about that; which will just make it all that much more difficult to continue rooting for this bunch of losers.

why oh why are you putting up with this FO and this franchise AND why do you continue to "carry on" like this here? - is it because you're not welcome anywhere else?

please do yourself a favor and just leave this "bunch of losers" to those of us that are hoping things are finally getting better here

HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone - hopefully the bunch of spoiled brat players AND owners will get together on the CBA

I had a feeling this response was coming from someone. Every definition I found (I actually did as you asked) included the word "discussion". I didn't find any that included the word "debate".

Discussion is a free exchange of ideas. There is no competition. There is no Right or Wrong. There is simply an exchange of ideas. That I have no problem with. In a discussion I can choose to ignore the presented ideas which are antithetical to mine and move on with life. THAT is what I come to places like this for.

Debate is a competitive form of discussion where each side is attempting to prove their side correct and either change the mind of their opponent or to have others determine that they've made their case more persuasively than their opponent has. I don't engage in debate in my private life any more than I do here. I see no point in it. I know what I believe and that's all that matters to me. Alternative viewpoints are not my interest and never will be.

Fun is not an important part of life so far as I am concerned. Never has been and I doubt it probably ever will be.

As for debate and overt insults. That's not a road I'm interested in heading down. As a former girlfriend of mine once said to me.... "You fight like it's life or death, no matter whether the topic is pizza toppings or world peace. You go from zero to (child or unwed parents) in 3.8 seconds." So you're "Smack" idea is probably not a good one for me to take you up on.

I'm putting up with the FO because I still have some faith in the owner.

I continue to "carry on" like this because it's about the only even semi-positive means I have for relieving the stress, anger, frustration and rage that this team seems to be so good at creating in me. Oh, and yes it's one of the few places left that I haven't been kicked out of (for now).

Depending on the offseason you might very well get your wish. Especially depending on how the CBA goes.

POST-GAME THREAD!! GOOD LORD!! PLEASE MOVE Redskins Fanatic (anagram = Insane Dick Farts) diatribes to smack thread or a re-named thread - please!

Cooley had one horrible drop but the others had extenuating circumstances (he was slipping on a high ball, a well-defended low ball for 2-yard check down on 3rd and 11, etc.). I was with a guy who started saying he stinks - then he threw the crucial block on 4th and goal. He also made other key plays in the 4th qutr.

Heyer was bad-mouthed a little during the game on this site but I charted him and he played very well. I'd love to see him at guard with Monty at center next year.

When we waggle, Rex should be rolling to his right at least twice as often as to his left.

Gano kicked well. I hope he's all-decade over the next 9 years.

We might have 3 NFL-quality wideouts. I'd still like to acquire one beast - as long as he loves the game and plays like B Mitch.

Have we found a nosetackle?

Didn't Rocky play well? Seems like the body type for a 3-4 to me.

I wish we had never stopped our stunting 9-man fronts that we used in our first 4 games and yesterday. What happened?

I've noticed we've gone back to more stunting in the okie since haynesworth is no longer seeing the field. Maybe because he was demanding to play in the nickel.

I say there is only one B Mitch, and he's called "Bobby".

Watch the Real B Mich against the Browns...the famous short pass over the middle that Mitchell takes all the way to the left, then cuts all the way right, then slips through the remaining Browns. Listen to John Wooten's comment "you could see mud flying up from his heels".

I'm simply talking about playing with heart and either B. Mitch works in that regard. I just don't want another Brian Westbrook or some other guy with loads of talent who doesn't love the game. This past Sunday we had a lot of guys play with heart and it made all the difference.

Yeah....I think Westbrook loves hand-to-hand combat much more than football. Last I checked, he was in some MMA fight league.

I know you're big on the old school, but I really don't think it's fair to discount what Brian Mitchell has done for the skins.

I liked and respect what Brian Mitchell did on the field - he's not a patch on Bobby Mitchell - on and off the field, Bobby Michell was class, "off the field", not much at all, if any from Brian

BTW - we won the game and I'll venture to suggest that they'll try and win this game coming up too - to hell with those that think they were playing for a better pick in the draft
