I am not sure. Did he improve after that move was made? If so, maybe MS is just trying to light that fire. The difference, of course, is that he had a better O-line there. Payton Manning would struggle with our line.
If he were trying to light a fire, why not do it at halftime, before the game even. But with 1:45 seconds left to go??
This excuse is a load of B.S. Why on earth would you have Donovan play a whole game and then say he doesn't have the cardiovascular endurance to finish the last minute 45 seconds? And, to not have told Donovan this yesterday?

All you can do is laugh.
Exactly...Right on Hogster....I think he should have been benched. Not because Rex is better but to light that fire but you have to give Rex a chance if you bench #5. He needs that at minimum to have a prayer behind that line. Anyway, doesn't matter what done is done. We can't fix it but let us not throw MS out of town yet. He goofed maybe he can redeem himself.

I'd be mad at McNabb if he did. Shanahan doesn't deserve a professional like McNabb.

Because of his lie's and stupid decisions, he's all but forced McNabb out of town.

If McNabb wants to win, he will go to Minnesota if they want him. If he wants to have no pressure of being benched, he will go to Arizona.
If he goes to Minny, at least he would have a running game for once. Why would he want to re-gisn here and have to deal with Mike Shanahan's (I'm a brat who got a gig because of my Dad but I think I know more than McNabb) Kid Kyle.
I sure hope Kyle isn't supposed to become our HC in a couple of years. He looks like a confident douche just like his pappy minus the experience and accomplishments.

This is one case where "owner meddling" would have come in handy.
Were I the owner, I would have had Mikey in my office this morning at O'dark thirty, and said ... look, Mike ... you made a terrible call yesterday, and if you don't already know that, then you and perhaps your son are the only two people of the 6 Billion on the planet today that doesn't recognize it.
Now here is my advice that I strongly urge you to consider ... go out there and say you made a mistake. Take ownership of your own bad decisions, especially if you want your players to do so too.
Besides, Mike, we have pretty savvy football fans here in Washington DC, and you cannot pee on the leg and tell them it's raining. They aren't going to buy that nonsense, and I am not going to be happy if you decide to insult their intelligence with a load of crap.
You're a smart man, and I'm confident that you'll do the right thing ... please close the door on your way out.

HE didn't force us to get him. We CHOOSE to get him. And our HC choose to LIE. HE CHOOSE TO MAKE A HORRID DECISION.
THE FRANCHISE IS GOING TO MISS OUT.

Boy, I'm shocked I'm so pissed. I've become so apathetic about this franchise the past 2 years...
I just need to calm down.

My thing is, either be Bill Belichick and be so arrogant that you don't give 2 cares enough to even tell people why you did anything. Or, be Joe Gibbs and be humble and honorable enough to shoulder the public blame and lay down the law behind closed doors.
This straddle the fence, save face, throw your players under the bus, arrogant but dumb enough to think we believe this crap approach is disturbing.
I wouldn't want to play for him right about now unless he really shot straight in the team meeting.

I still lurk, since I purchased the house and got this job, I've been working night shifts and stuff. SMH. Trying to remedy that now tho.

Ray, I hear you but Snyder can't do that now. Supposedly, Shanny and Allen are supposed to bring stability and continuity to the organization. If Danny made a move of any kind now, we'd be all over him again. I say let ride out and give Shanny the rope to hang himself with his own ego. If he continues to operate like this, he will ruin his career and Kyle's as well. I'm sure that those other teams that were looking for an HC when he was available are smiling to themselves now. There was a reason Bolen got rid of him. He couldn't win after Elway and his EGO got in the way with Cutler, Jake Plummer and this zone blocking scheme that wasn't his. Isn't it funny how Alex Gibbs and the other zone blocking coaches didn't follow him to DC????

I guess I'll revive an active participation as well.
Why is today's litany of Shanahan explanations different than yesterday's?

- Yesterday it was McNabb doesn't know the offense.
- Today it's McNabb's injuries.
JESUS! Mike just said that he DOESN'T KNOW IF REX IS BETTER AT THE TWO MINUTE DRILL?!?!?!
He let him run it cus Rex mimicked Peyton with the scout team and did a good job in the no huddle. OMG...

roybus14 wrote:@Ray (what's up Buddy!!!!), we disagreed last year on Campbell but I think we are in agreeance on this. Yes, I saw the progression visual put up on the screen and it's flip-flopped here. So combine that with a make shift OL, and you got what you got yesterday and in weeks past.
But here, IMO, are a few things that I see about how this team is run.
1. Just like Philly got rid of Donovan for a reason, so did Pat Bolen dump Shanny for a reason.
2. What you guys saw yesterday, with Albert, with Devin and with Dock is all EGO and it's to the detriment of the this football team and the fans who thought that change was coming. Remember #56 and how he was handled? How different is Devin, Dock, and Albert. Devin was at one time returning kicks getting pretty good yards and suddenly he's gone.
Dock, I don't know what happened with him but Lichenstieger is not the answer. Dock's a veteran and would at least give you something based on experience more than Cory.
The EGO allowed Haslett to take a defense that was consistently top 10/20 for the past several seasons and turn them into bottom 10. You stay in a 4-3 not to appease Albert but this is what this group of guys have been very good at for the past several seasons. Staying the 4-3 would have stopped the Albert drama or would have put everyone on Shanny's side had they stayed with the 4-3 and Albert did what he did.
The EGO goes into games with only 2 running backs, a serviceable veteran OLman in street clothes and the thought that REX could win you a game after sitting for 58 1/2 minutes and no protection because you think he knows the terminology.
What's up Roy!! Hey, it looks like we have a complete and total agreement across the entire board on this .... and as I said before .. when does that ever happen? 100% agreement? Unheard of.
What troubles me even more ... (my wife made this observation) is that what happens if Kyle Shanahan's offense is a total flop? Would Mike fire his own Son, considering what that would do to his career so early? I mean, what a terrible indictment of your value if your own father fired you!! Think about that one!
Look what has happened in Denver with the juvenile delinquent from New England .... he alienates and gets rid of their QB all for Matt Cassel ? and then does the same thing with their #1 receiver .... all before training camp started last year?
There is a reason why 30 year olds aren't usually seen at such high levels on coaching staffs .... they simply don't possess the maturity and wisdom of the old guys ... even some of the old guys don't .... and it's starting to look like Mike Shanahan is one of the latter ...
A complete side issue that is not very logical or scientific is that I don't trust people with smirky looks and beady eyes ....
WHY ... I ASK .... WHY .... is this team destined to be cursed with nincompoops running it?

Sports Reporters just threw him some softballs. Czabe threw in a couple of semi-tough questions. Some sarcastic ones.
Asked if they could use Flash Cards to help McNabb learn the 2 minute. (Wow)
Asked if he expects McNabb to be our QB for the next couple of years. Shanny said "I hope so."
Then it was mostly sh.ts and giggles for 7 minutes or so.

Ray, that might have been what happen. I haven't heard the presser yet so I can't say for sure but maybe there is pressure on him today and hence the contradictions. Mike has said already that the DC media is more than he has ever dealt with. He might not be able to deal with the pressures here.

They couldn't grill him because Bram Weinstein doesn't work there any more to clean up the mess -- the last time Andy and Steve had a Redskins head coach on their show.
