1st round - QB
2nd round - LB
3rd round - WR
4th round - G
5th round - LB
6th round - RB
7th round - D-Line

I would go:
1st - OL - C or G
2nd - OLB or Nose Tackle
3rd - No pick
4th - No Pick
5th - 7th best available
You have to remember we will not be picking 5th overall this year. We will be middle to late in rounds, because of our record.

I hope not. With all the talent at that position, why would you ever pick one up in the first three rounds?

I have to disagree. There is a misconceived notion that running backs can be plucked out of thin air and they will turn into stud rb's. That's simply not the case. Sure, there are always instances each year of some late rounder or undrafted guy that put up some big numbers, but if you look at the rb's that year in and year out put up big numbers these are guys that were drafted at the top of the draft.

Take 2009, for example. Of the top 15 rushers last year, 13 were drafted in the first 3 rounds of the draft. 9 were drafted in the first round, 2 in the 2nd round, 2 in the 3rd round, and 2 were undrafted. I bet if you looked at other positions, such as wide receiver, tight end, and qb, you would find a lot more players in the top 15 at their position that were drafted outside the first three rounds.

We obviously have other holes to fill, but at some point soon we are going to need to find ourselves a play maker at the running back position.

*eh*.. its whatever folks. CP's blocking will be missed the most. I think Torain and Williams will be fine in our offense and we won't be seeing the other 2 backs at all unless there's another injury. Don't worry about next year's draft, plenty of things will change over the course of the season anyways and maybe Torain and Williams will be studs and we'd keep them. *shrug*.. we won't know any of that since its only week 5 coming up. Have patience friends.

From what I read today, it's Simpson is ahead of Williams.

Yeah, I'm not sure why Joe thinks Simpson won't get playing time. I'm guessing he will be our 3rd down back on Sunday.

Couldn't have said it better myself. A lot of people think you can just throw anyone in the backfield, but year in year out you look at the leaderboard among RBs and most of them were top draft picks. The best thing for us to do in next years draft would be to trade back to try and aquire some of the picks we traded. The only RB I would use our 1st rounder on is Ingram, who I think is a beast.

99% of the coaches can't pluck a RB out of the air.

But there's one that has proven that he can and that his system is very RB friendly. That HC is here with us. We don't need a HOF RB, we just need one of his random guys to excel within the system.

The offensive line he had in Denver had a lot to do with it, and he doesn't have that here. Besides, he constantly tried to upgrade that position post Terrell Davis. He had a number of 1,000 yard rushers but most of those guys didn't last for more than a season or two.

The line always has a lot to do with it but our line may not be THAT bad. They will improve as their comfort improves. The WR blocking will improve. The coaches dedication to run the ball has to be there, as it was last week. And quite frankly, Torrain showed that when it comes together, Mike can still grab a practice squad guy and make him look good.

How long will CP be out? I should drop him from Fantasy for a few weeks.

Which is why we should draft another o-lineman early in the draft before a running back.
It's just a game.
